Anyone here find out how to replace Shepard's head with another character?  Someone here I think did but when I tried to do it, it didn't work.  social.bioware.com/group/1932/discussion/6852/308658/#post_308658

First I put [ BIOG_HMM_HED_PROMorph.JAck.HMM_HED_PROJack_MDL ] in the hair mesh thing
but that just made my shepard bald. Then I tried replace the textures
but then my she had this very strange android looking face....I am very
confused.

Have you also
changed the loadout?? And what in the world are you doing with the
ammo??? Why do you have a negative number in the used ammo count for
something that isn't a heavy weapon??

Ah so no negative number other than heavy weapons?  Didn't know that.  I got it working now though..I was trying to do the ammo thing by memory and I remember someone saying putting a negative number there just didn't realize it was ONLY for heavy weapons.  Thanks.

Cleary not.

So is there any additional hair style in the save editor or anything like that?

We have male hair codes but as far as I know they don't work yet. Aside from that the opening post contains info on modding female shepard's hair styles and male separd's facial hair.

i just found out that it's possible to install the whole game to a usb drive so i did it and when i looked at the files, they're all 169mb. anyone know how to get individual files out of the larger files? someone said they extracted the 360 c.ini but i don't see how to. any tips? thanks in advance.

We don't know how to do this yet. Even IF someone figures out how to extract them that won't be much help unless someone makes a piece of software that reads and interprets those files into something meaningfull that we can understand and change. If somehting that works well comes up I'll add it to the opening post but as of now we can't really screw with the .ini files.

are we sure there's even .ini files for the 360 version? it uses its own file system. it's not fat32 or ntfs. who says the files even have extensions? do we know for a fact that there sctually is a coalesced.ini file hiding in there somewhere?

They may be called something else on the 360 but I am mostly sure the 360 has an equivalent to the PC's .ini files.

what kind of file grouping methods do you know of that don't necessarily involve compression that can make a bunch of files into one big one? as far as i can tell by the overall size of what's installed on my usb drive, the files don't seem to be compressed, just grouped somehow. any ideas?

Quick question: Does anybody know how these modded saves will affect loading the character into ME3? I mean is it possible to know that? Ive seen some very cool outfits and hair styles, particularly a beret and some white hair color and I would love to get into modding, I just want to know how this could affect my game in the future.

In the grand scheme of it, I doubt it would be any concern for most users.  It takes roughly 35 hours for each playthrough for me personally.  I think I can put some time off a week before ME3 is released to make a new character for import if there are any problems with my modded saves.

No way to say for certain; but if the import from ME1 to ME2 is any indication then it shouldn't be a problem since all that really carries over is you choices and your appearance.

The only exception I can think of would be using some of the appearance mods to alter your character's hair, eyes, etc.  Since the game doesn't expect you to have the Illusive Man's eyes for example it could get confused if you tried to import a character that did.  Of course if that were the case then you could always just mod your character's face back to a face using the standard features and it then you could import it without any problems.

Aside from that I've beat the game a couple times, so just keep at least one completed save unmodded so you'll definitely have one to import when ME3 comes out.

The installation on the xbox is actually almost exactly the same as on the pc, there seem to be a few pcc files missing, and their labeled .xxx but they follow the same naming conventions, I haven't tried changing the extension to pcc and extracting them to see if their actually the same files but it seems likely.

The only other advice I might have to make sure your saves will import to ME3 is to think a little bit before you consider editting the choices you made in ME1.  If you want to change a decision from ME1 it will be fine, just make sure that you don't mark decisions which your other decisions dictates you shouldn't have been able to choose.

For example (Spoiler for ME1, although if you haven't played it you really should since the story is better than ME2's even though the combat isn't nearly as good).. if you choose to rescue Ashley on Virmire don't try checking that you rescued Kaiden unless you uncheck the box next to Ashley since you shouldn't have been able to save both.

Alright since my last post I've run into a big problem with ME2 and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. The game starts up and goes to the "Press Start" screen; but after I press start the screen goes black the audio cuts out and the 360 freezes. Out of curiosity I tried playing under a different 360 profile and I was able to start the game, start a new career, save, exit and restart the game and successfully load the save I made. Furthermore I started up another game with my normal profile and I was able to load the save and play normally.

This is really weird cause I've been playing for the past week with a game based on a modded save with no issues and I was even doing so last night so it doesn't seem like a corrupted save issue and even if it were wouldn't the game just tell me I had a corrupt save when I tried to start up, not freeze the game before I can even get to the main menu?

I have no idea what the hell is going on, so I'm emailing back and forth with EA support right now hoping to get an answer; but I figured I'd check with you guys to see if anyone here had heard of anything like this, cause I'm stumped.

i've lost audio and i've had the 360 freeze but i haven't had the screen go black. and when i did have problems all i had to do was either restart the game or the console and everything was fine after that.

did you maybe forget to rehash and resign? maybe that's enough the mess the game up when you load it but not enough to show a corrupted save...

Just wanted to post that last night I followed the front page link to the megaupload site and downloaded the ME2 editing package. I unzipped it into a folder in my hard drive, and almost immediately my anti-virus software started going crazy.

I hope no one else has experienced this, please beware of that link, it seems something has gotten into the file. Funny thing was, I downloaded with Firefox and it scanned for viruses but didn't detect anything. I haven't checked this thread or the forums for any reports of viruses with this link, so shame on me, but I'm going to search now.

Nah, thats not it.  The last time I modded a save was 2 or 3 days ago and I've been playing with no problems with that character since then.  I was even playing last night, made a save, shut down the 360 and then when I booted up ME2 this morning, I ran into this weird problem.  I was checking in here to see if anyone else who had modded was suddenly having this issue since I figured some new update I didn't notice could have either blacklisted my gamertag or made modded saves royally screw the game.  But it doesn't seem to be the case since EA didn't tell me they'd suspended my account or anything like that.

The EA support staff seems mystified by the problem too and they just sent me a message stating..

"It looks as though the issue you have submitted is more complex than it
seemed initially. We require more time for investigation, but rest
assured we are working hard to resolve your issue in a timely manner.
"

I have no clue what the problem could be.

That happened to me exactly as you describe and in my case I think it was a currupted save/carrer.  I went into the dashboard and removed the entire save and everything worked fine again.  Of course I lost the carrer but I have a ton of different saves so it was no big deal for me.  I'm not sure if that is what is happening to you or not.  My save was working fine up until the black-out too.  I suspect the problem was that I had modded tons of stuff relating to plot flow - then unmodded - then remodded etc etc etc. I didn't get a corrupted save message either but since removing the carrer fixed the problem that is what I think it was in my case.

Edit:  If you have other carrers on the go you might try moving the modded save onto a usb from the dashboard like you would if you were going to mod it again and then try to start the game up and see if it works when the save has been removed.

Thanks man, I was considering deleting the career and trying it again.  So I backed up the career I suspected to be the problem on my PC, deleted the career from the 360 and tried the game again and it started up properly.  I find it odd that it would have gotten so corrupted though since I had only modded that career twice.

For reference, the mods I had done weren't very radical and included....

Giving myself lots of credits, minerals, heavy weapon ammo, paragon and renegade points, changing my loadout to equip the Widow on my soldier with Revenant training and to equip the Tempest in place of my pistol, giving Garrus a Widow in his loadout, and giving Zaeed and Grunt a Revenant in their loadouts.

I'm going to try extracting the individual saves from the career using Modio and deleting the most recent save then loading the career back onto the 360 to see if it was just that one save that was the issue or if it was the whole career.

Still it seems odd that having the game be unable to load a single corrupted save or even a corrupted career would cause the game to crash so profoundly.  They really need to patch this so that the game can still get to the main menu regardless of whether the last save was corrupt or not, since being unable to do so prevents you from loading any other career, starting a new one, loading or deleting saves, or playing the game in any way untill you delete the career.  Not to mention being able to access the main menu might allow you to salvage the career simply by deleting the most recent save and loading an older one.

Glad that i see someone else had the same problem. The same issues I had, and also I used the same fixes, i.e. using another Career File

Not yet. I like to maintain hope that gibbed is still slowly working on this since that's what he last said and he also indicated it would likely take him a long time.

I have to say, the game has become slightly too easy for me on insanity after equipping Grunt with a Revenant. I haven't even acquired 2/5 AR upgrades yet and he is just tearing through enemies like butter. Horizon (along with Kasumi's FB) was so easy I had to reload and double check I was actually playing on insanity.
