Also if you recruit a character and then you try to return that character to prerecruited status by unchecking boxes the game will still think you have recruited that character even though it will let you begin their recruitments again. In Jack's case I landed on Purgatory and walked up to the Blue Suns guy to start the cut scene but he wouldn't talk to me.  I have a theory that this is tied to upgrades and I want to try recruiting a character but leaving the upgrades and then unckecking the boxes to see if I can re-recruit .  This might be useful for people who missed upgrades if it works.

True. I figured that one out, when after getting Mordin, Legion wanted to speak with me about his loyalty mission, so then I realized....gota load a prev save.

So now I do it like Darth said, put him in enjoy 1 miss, then mod him out so it erases the count towards "loyalty" mission or what not.

Here's a question for... people. I've tried out the "minigun" weapon with Shepard, and it's definitely... uh... distinct from the revenant. I'm curious before I go through the whole modding process, and have to mod it back if it's bad.... how do your squadmates handle the minigun.

The huge clip-size is a defining feature, but I'm not sure if it would matter. The start-up delay as the gun spins up can get you killed on insanity, and I was also curious how that would work squad-wise. Does anyone have numerical stats on it like you can find at the wiki for the others?

YOur squadmates die......anything that is not a pop shot feature for them is suicide. on Harcore or Insane. ON Veteran and bellow is actually .....fun.

Unfortunately, I dont know what code tells them when regarding shooting...couple of burts or time out of cover then go back into cover I duno.

My guys, usually, pop out, rev up the mini, shoot a very short stream actually, then go back into cover. few times, they stop, and they rev up again and shoot another stream while outside of cover which is stupid.

overall I dont give it to them....rev up time is bad.

I mean today we dont have to rev up a mini gun, a military grade mini gun is more or less like......ever seen Lock and Load? history channel....wait no better yet, MW2 that mini gun on the humvee on the afghanistan lv, as soona s you press the buttons it starts shooting.

Duno why in 100 years mini guns suddenly would go back into reving up then shoot time, if today we got, press shoot already :P.

Dont got numerical stats, but they suck most of the time with it, if is in hardcore and insane....otherthan that is fun to watch, not... smart but fun :P

Regarding Legion:

You can use Legion for the whole game without affecting continuity provided you only check the selectable box - so this is the same as the other three late squad members.  Legion may try to give you his loyalty mission before TIM gives you the Collector ship - don't do it - don't even let him give you the mission.  I actually took Legion on the Collector ship (which triggered on it's own) and he had dialogue (which I'm sure some people already knew).
After the collectorship mission simply uncheck the "selectable" box (my "aquired" box had a check too even though I didn't check it so if that has happened uncheck that too).  Reload and the IFF mission is there ready to go.
So the bottom line is that Legion, Tali, Samara and Thane can all be used for the whole game without any plot problems provided you just use the selectable box and no others.  Uncheck the boxes when you want their respective recruitment missions to appear (but this must be after Horizon for Tali, Thane and Samara - and after the Collector ship for Legion) on the map.

I took the patch off - never use live that much anyway.

The "acquired" box checks itself at some point too and I'm not sure what triggers that. In the game you mentioned above where Legion was asking to speak to you - you could have just ignored that until after the Collector ship and then deselected acquired and selectable and the IFF mission would have appeared on the map and then you could have just gone on from there.

I had Legion from the first time you board the Normandy until the suicide mission, and having him with me never created any continuity problems. I even did his loyalty mission when it popped up right after Horizon because I like his alternate costume better. I got the Reaper IFF mission without having to uncheck him either. I wasn't brave enough to take him with me on that mission, but after it was finished I went back down to the AI Core and there he was, just like normal.

All I checkmarked was the Selectable box, as someone on the first few pages experimented with.

This is great news......I'll have to get to wor on a new playthrough then. THanks for all the info. I'll have to put something about this in the opening post when I get around to it.

What's up with Modio? Their website seems to be completely down and it stops responding whenever I try to sign in or use any of its online features. Is anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: nevermind, I rebooted my modem and now it works fine.....on the website I appear as automatically signed it....as I told it to keep me. That was strange.....I wonder what got screwed up?

I know I did that too. But as soon as the IFF mission became available. The game crashed often. I didn't speak with him though, but the quest "a house divided" appeared already in the journal.

I just did the IFF mission with Legion. He has no dialogue other than his combat lines. The first time you meet him there is nothing out of the ordinary except that he's both in your squad and looking at your squad through his scope. When you meet him in the core the cut scenes play as normal. But when you get to the final scene he isn't there - you and your squadmates are carrying an invisible person and when you throw him to the Normandy again, no one is there. So nothing happens to the game - and nothing all that exciting happens either but you can take him.

I saved beforehand and am going to play around with some of the checks to see if I can learn anything.

Hmm, it would be nice to find out what was causing that.  Legion is definitely a little more funky than the other squad mates when it comes to the flags.  Hopefully we can figure it all out completely.

Been trying him out more and more. and it just weird.

If I activate him before getting anyone, his loyalty quest becomes avilable after just one main mission. or 3 side ones.

if I get him after modrin and garrus, it takes all the way after horizon for him to want to talk to me.

If I activate him after horizon, he does 2 things:

A. works like a charm nothing wrong.

B. Some chance that after 3 side quests he just dissapears.
When I checked the boxes, they were unchecked, apparently the game unchecked it on its own duno why.

Still  love to see, kal Regaar say "....there is a geth right behind you" lol right as if I didn't notice :P

BTW. ON the tali recruitment when she freaks out.

When:

Shep: He is with us tali he is not from the ones that revered soverign.

Tali: oh so he is just from the ones that drove us from our homeworld.

I would have loved to been able to say :

Shep: your right he is from the one that didn't want to die in mass executions at their creator hands, now this is not time for pointing fingers, we can talk about this when we are safe.

god that would have felt a nice comeback...

Depends on the mod....minerals, swuad points, ammo and such aren't likely to cause any problems but TIM's eyes, NPC hairs and such can cause problems as the game won't expect your character to have those and ME3 may not know how to read those values.....easy to fix though....just mod the file again and import a normal face on your shepard and it should be fine again.

These mods are amazing and have kept me playing the game long after I would have normally.:D

2 unrelated questions...

Can you carry more than 1 Heavy Weapon at a time?  Just finished Garrus recruitment (as soon as it became available near the beginning of the game), wrote the NukeLauncher over the previously-equipped GrenadeLauncher and wrote the MachineGun over the AutoPistol.  Just get a blank screen when loading the save.

2nd question:  Have tried to activate Miranda and Jacob's loyalty powers before their missions by checking "Is Loyal" and "Specialized".  It never works.  Can you actually upgrade their loyalty powers before doingtheir missions?  Which boxes should be checked/unchecked?

Thanks!

You can only carry one heavy weapon.

Overwriting the grenade launcher with the nuke launcher should have worked (remember you have to mod both the "weapon" and the "loadout" sections under the raw tab) so if you did that then something else has happened.

Overwriting non heavy weapons is always the same. If you want a weapon that is in a family of weapons that you have access to then you need to paste over the same family weapons (widow over viper) but if you don't have access to the family of weapons you want than you have to paste that weapon over a weapon you do have access to. So your question above regarding the revenant depends on whether your character has access to assault rifles. If yes the rev goes over the assault rifle you have, if no, than it goes over any other weapon you have access to.

You access loyalty powers before characters are loyal by changing the "loyalty requirement" number from zero to one under the raw tab not in the plot flags. Darth has instructions in the OP on this as well as some of the other stuff you touched on.

Thanks David, have used Darth's OP to do all my modding, just missed the loyalty requirement part somehow.  This begs the obvious question of what do the "Is Loyal", "Is Specialized", "Is in Party" (remembering off the top of my head, know these are not exact), etc. do?

And if I change the loyalty requirement before doing their loyalty mission, will the mission no longer be available?

The loyalty mission will remain unaffected and will trigger on it's own even though you already have their bonus power working so you have nothing to worry about there.

Also, when a mod isn't "taking" but you are pretty confident that you did it correctly just let the game progress a bit and try again.  I tried to change my widow ammo on a mission recently because I mistakenly did something that reset it and 3 times in a row it didn't work and I know I was doing it correctly.  I let the game move forward to the next enviroment and then tried again and it worked on the first time.  So I think sometimes, for whatever reason, you may be doing something correctly but the game just isn't accepting it.

"Is Loyal" means you have finished the loyalty mission successfully - as opposed to just flipping on their bonus power that completing the mission would have also  triggered.

"is specialized" I think, only refers to the suicide mission special status designations like  "fire team leader" "tech specialist" " biotic barrier" etc.

"is in squad" means you saved on a mission and they are with you.

I'm not sure exactly what "1st appearance" means though, nor am I entirely sure what the difference is between "selectable" and "aquired" since when you make them just "selectable" they will talk to you on the Normandy and even give you their loyalty missions.  I have a theory that "aquired" means that they are ready to give you their loyalty mission which is why it self checks after a little while even when you just made them "selectable" but I haven't tested it yet.

Is in the first page I think.

It has nothing to do with the henchmen status.

You have to go to raw tab>squad>henchmen>powercollection

In that lil screen with all your henchmen. each have a small tab on the right window

There you have to change the "Loyalty Requirement" 0(0) to 1(0). Change the first 0 to a 1.

That will enable the loyalty power to be used.

Dont forget to also give them additional squad points to fill it.
