I'm having an issue with modding and freezing. I've noticed that whenever my save file reaches a size of 1 MB the game freezes and I won't be able to start it up again until I remove the save file from my hard drive. Rehashing and Resigning doesn't seem to solve this issue. Does anyone know of a possible fix? I know the obvious solution would be to not make that many saves but if I can solve this issue I'd like to.
EDIT: My problem is exactly the same as the problem ImplodingGoat and a few others have had earlier in this thread. I've gotten this freeze/corrupted issue on two different modded careers. The thing is I've only modded credits and elements so I don't think the actual modding is causing this problem. Most of the people that have reported this problem all mentioned that they completed a good portion of the game, so it's more than possible for them to have 1 MB worth of save files in their careers. So has anyone who's modded been able to make it to 1 MB without this freezing issue?
Deleting the Corrupted Career...
METHOD A: Done through the 360. Get into the memory settings on your 360 (its under the systems menu) and manually delete the career save, they should have dates and names to distinguish them and the one you want will be the last one you played (ie the most recently saved) which is the file the game is getting hung up on since the game tries to access it so it will be ready at the main menu under "resume". This will entail losing the entire career, not just your most recent save. But the next time you try to play ME2 the game will go to the main menu and you will be able to start a new career or access all your other careers aside from the corrupted one you had to delete.
METHOD B: Using Xport 360 software.. Plug the 360 harddrive into your PC open it using Xport 360 and delete the most recent saved career. Plug the hard drive back into your 360 and fire up ME2. The Main Menu should load.
Attempt to Salvage the Career
METHOD C: Done through the PC. Put the career file you last accessed on the 360 on your PC and open the career using modio and manually delete the most recent save in the career. Rehash the file and Resign. Delete the career you most recently used from the 360 and Inject the modded career back into the 360 hard drive. Start up ME2 and see if you can get to the main menu screen. If you can, click load save and pick the most recent save in the career that you were last playing. It it loads then you got rid of the corrupt save and the career should be playable. Be advised though the time I did this the career I reverted to an older save on also became corrupted after I played further on and saved a few times, so it may be necessary to mod the save file back to a less modified state by taking out things you may have added to your weapon inventory or the like.
Hope that helps.
PS: I still had the career that became corrupted saved on my hard drive for reference and I noticed it was 972 KB which is much closer to 1MB than most of my other saves. Its possible that if you cross 1MB the game can no longer recognize the save which would make since because after I saved a few more times on that career that had been corrupted, that might have pushed the file size over the 1MB threshold. If that's so you might need to revert to a save file that is considerably smaller start playing again then hope for the best.
