How to mod ME2 for the Xbox 360 - updated 5/3/2011-

now I might do what I did to my soldier and adept with a sentinel now that I see it has a shield bonus in it's main power.
So instead of 4 you put a 10 ?
I want to add fortfication and barrier. Now, can you overlap the two. Fortification lasts up to 180 seconds so if you enable it and then enable barrier will both actually work and if power armor is on wtf happens, lol ?
Basically can you stack these type of powers. Same would go with the soldier but you only can use one ammo type at a time so I am guessing this applys to the shields ?

You can stack those protections on top of your Tech armor - I've had mine just below 1000. Barrier is the best because it has no in game animation which means you can trigger it while you have been stunned - the others including medigel can't be triggered when you're stunned so barrier is by far the best Oh **** button.

Well I have found the "in squad" flags in the hex editor and I am able to change squad mates without using Gibbed so I know I'm in the right place. But there is no value for Liara in that location when she is in your squad on the DLC mission so I'm stumped at the moment. The only value present is the value for the single squadmate you selected to bring along. So right now all that I can do is remove that squadmate and play the DLC alone with Liara. You can do that with either the hex editor or with Gibbed flags.

When it comes to shields, is different and is tricky.
You can use as manya s you want, tried it on soldier, vanguard and sentinel.
The problem is, the only one that will come back after your shields recharge is whichever the animation is playing., or whichever is the one "on top" of the others.
Example:
Soldier:
I had a soldier, with fortification, gsb, and barrier:
when I apply fortification, the animation kicks in, showing bright hexagons, when Ia pply the barrier the barrier takes over the animation, and the same goes for the gsb.
So in the end, all shield powers apply to the statistical value of my shields, increasing them individually as their rank dictates, BUT. When my shield goes down, the only shield power that will remai active is whichever you are seeing visually.
The one that stays on top for me is i this order.
Fortification gets overlapped by Barrier
Barrier gets overlapped by GSb
GSB gets overlapped by tech armor.
So for a soldier with 3 shields, when they go down, the shield values only keep the gsb because fort, and barrier end, no matter their timer, or how strong they are... bummer i Know.
With tech armor, is worse in a way since tech armor is weaker, last less, and overrides visually all other shield powers, when your shields go down, technically the one on top visually was the tech armor, so everything else, ends immidiately, unfortunately, tech armor also ends there.
So, yes you can use many shield powers at the same time, but just remember the only one you will keep after your shields have poped is the one that was visually active. This is not to say they all weren't active, they are, you can check the shield values and they will be pretty high, but the shield powers will expire when the shields are destroyed, with the exception of the one visually overlapping all the others.
Now, for my Sentinel..... and others with "quick recharge" is sort of fun lol.
because you can raise your shields so high, that you actually get time to react before they are destroyed, which means you can take cover, and allow them tor echarge naturally, and thus not loosing all your shields.
My sentinel, had fort, barrier, gsb, and techa rmor, and it made it fun in insanity... not so much because of the timer things, would be nice if I found a way to reduce cooldown timers, or at leas tmade them individually

Ok I have an adept tweaked with my extra powers but I don't want to redo all of that and just change a save to a sentinel and play that
Now once i get to the collector ship will it lose the assault weapon it has currently?
It was a ME2 to ME2 import as an adept and the rifle carried over in the import.
Now will there be a problem once I get to the ship ?
I looked and see I never beat the game as a sentinel so importing a old play is not possible but modding an adept save seems to be the easiest thing for me especially to get all of the ME1 flags triggered just as I like them.
I want to try stacking all of the shields under the tech armor plus I never really gave the sentinel a chance. I have beaten it as a adept or vanguard and engineer but I don't think i got half way with a sentinel
Anything bad likely to happen ?

That be interesting, first time
hearing modding on the 360. I know they been banning people for it from
what I heard. The instructions and site are here?
Dont pay attention to apocalyptic dooms day sayers. All that are lies, who is "they", who is "people getting banned", and who did you "hear it from".
until now, I have not heard, or saw any document or official website, stating that people are getting banned for modding ME2 saves.
heck, people have been modding, Oblivion, fallout 3, and plenty of other games for simple self amusement, and the onyl time I heard of people getting banned, were in Gears and Call of duty, for increasing their rank, or modding their consoles, to make it easier to play multiplayer.
You wont get banned, it takes more money to file a lawsuit than anything they can get out of you, so chilax, your not profiting from it, so is not a big deal.
Simple, your not suppose to mod your games, anywhere, it breks the law, yet there are hundreds of sites, with mods for most games I can remember. As long as your not profiting, there is no profit, for the company in a lawsuit, so dont worry.
Now, if I get it right, your doing this.
You have an adept, which is changed to a sentinel in the gibbed editor, because you dont have a sentinel in ME1.
I think is the same as to what I did, since vanguards were completely an utterly butt probed in ME2, and ME1 vanguards, are really sentinels in ME2.
I took a soldier, played it, pass the game, then decided to switch the save to "sentinel" and start a new game, the soldier changed to a sentinel.
The "specialization" of weaponry, I have no idea, my sentinel was never able to choose an assault rifle, for somer eason, even though my warrior chose the revenant, so I am not really sure what happended. the game didn't crash, but I never got to the collector ship, and never had a chance to have my sentinel meet that specialization "option".
In the end.... does your sentinel is able to choose the assault rifle? since your adept had assault rifle spec? or he can't choose assault rifle?
Also. Again, dont worry about modding saves.
When you "mod" it automatically makes it easier to get an achievement, but most of us, get the achievements before even modding the game so dont worry; if your not profiting from it, there is no profit for the company in a lawsuit, so mod away.

I read through about 40 or so of the thread pages (20 at beginning and 20 at the end). I hope it wasn't somewhere in the middle.
My question is:
Where in Gibbed's, or rather how, can I change whether all my crew lived, half of them lived, or all of the crew died after rescue during end game. By crew, I don't mean henchmen, I mean Gabby, Chambers, and Rupbert, etc. I screwed up my mission order towards the end (by forgetting about doing everything before acquiring the IFF).
Is this even possible? I couldn't seem to find where to change it in the program under Raw (but I only spent like an hour with it). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HxD is a good free hex editor for anyone who wants to play around inside the save - outside of Gibbed.

regarding Crew, as in normandy crew, I have no idea, how to do it in the gibbed editor.
Maybe with hex editing, or other form can be accomplished, but not that I know of.
If is henchmen, although you said not about them, their flag is checked as "garrus is dead (x)"
just uncheck it. This was just in case you wanted to know, if you alread know then disregard this

It's official, the PC gamers now
have a new squadmate available for all ME2 missions. They did it by
overwriting an existing squadmate. I'm still hopeful that something
similar can be done with the Hex editor and a game save but we can't do
exactly what they did. On the bright side, at least we know it can be
done and she works outside of her DLC. If anybody's got an idea throw
it out there.

I hate hex editing....
hate it.
I hope, wish and pray that in future consoles, the xbox, ps3 etc will be no different from a PC, except that they dont run word, or powerpoint. A nice, option of plugging in a pc keybord, press a button for console command prompt to just pop up..... sigh one day it will be so, hope it iwll be not so long

And all you need is Gibbed. Liara's weapons and powers seem to be working perfectly but I haven't finished the mission yet.
All I did was make a save right after the car chase in the DLC when Liara first appears in your squad and just keep it available. After you complete the DLC (*edit* you actually don't have to complete the DLC for this to work you just need the save) - I got the collector ship call - start another mission and save at the first chance. Use Gibbed to open your Liara save from the DLC and open your new save (that's 2 Gibbed windows you should have open now) and change everything in field 3 (which is the location field) of the Liara save to whatever it says in your new save. Save and rehash (and all that fancy stuff) and your Liara save will open in the new location with Liara. Don't save over the original save though make a new one so you can reuse.
The fields you need to change are
Base level name
Position (expand and cut and paste all 3)
Rotation (expand and cut and paste all 3)
This won't allow for a continuous playthrough though for obvious reasons but it's all I've got so far. Hopefully we can eventually come up with something better than this duct tape solution but I'm a pretty happy
camper at the moment.
Edit September 12 - Major bugs have been figured out (see next several pages) and Liara can be modded into any mission - including the suicide mission (with some strange twists). Placement of the save is important in some missions because of an opening dark screen but workarounds seem possible for all of those. Liara can be a third squadmate you control in a regular squad or she can be added as a fourth to an existing squad that the AI will play.

I'm wondering now if you can manually go anywhere in the game anytime by using the location field in Gibbed regardless of where the game thinks the plot flow is. I'm going to experiment with that next.
Edit: Doing Overlord now - no problems or bugs.
Edit 2: Wow! Sentinel + Energy Drain + Liara = very bad news for Geth

I am not sure what is going to happen when I get to the collectors ship :/
good news on the liara stuff david. So location codes and a save are what's needed but PC gamers really have the best of both worlds :/

Nothing should happen when you get to the collector ship - as far as the game's concerned you've already got your weapon it won't try to give you another even though you switched classes.
I'm envious of some of the PC mods for sure, but it isn't all sunshine and butterflies for them. A lot of the really cool stuff you see can only be loaded in certain places, some things need to be reloaded multiple times per level, Text mod gives some player's computers ME1 frame rate drop, and they still can't add non bonus powers to a character which, after the things you can do with Gibbed, is really the next big hurdle. They do have us beat though - just not by as much as semms sometimes.

I just have a quick question. I am new to modding, and the entire forum for that matter and currently don't have the time to read through all these pages as i'm in the process of moving. During my playthrough while i was on the collector ship i chose the M-76 Revenant and i've regretted that decission ever since. As i understand it, my save can be modified to change the chosen weapon to the M-98 Widow. I'd much rather have this weapon for any future DLC. Would altering my existing save to change the weapon i aquired on the collector ship cause any bugs to appear?
Thanks for your time.
