Okay, so right now I'm looking for a way to mod the squadmates. Obviously, I cannot accomplish this by only editing the save file. So, I might have to install the game and then find the c.ini file, then proceed to edit it (Blonde Miranda or Scion Gun, anyone?). The problem is, the game is split into two discs. That means I would either have to mod both, or see what the heck the file composition is like. It's worth a shot, but I'm a bit scared, myself.

It has been tried before. The 360 version will not recognize the .ini file unless it is the EXACT same size as the original.

Ok im at the part where i have to use a really big biotic field to keep out the seeker swarms, liara is in one cut scene when you save your crew. When you go to pick your specialist then your squadmate  she is still in your squad so i think i can take her all the way to the end. Now for the bad you cant die at all or reload any saves instead you will have start all the way from when you first get to the collector base but that's just with my four man squad i don't know about three i think i can save it and mod either tali or garrus out so its just me xxxxx and liara so i can keep full control of her or not die at all( not likely ). . . i tell you how it goes.

How does the four man squad play?  Do they all give their battle lines and is the AI the same?

The next time you try a three person squad with Liara see if this works:

I got a black screen moving a non Liara squad so it's not Liara that makes the screen go black it's using the location fields.  So far all of the missions that have worked perfectly for me were missions where the location information I entered in the Liara save was the absolute beginning of the mission.  So for the collector ship (for example) I saved before I even took a step forward.  I am wondering (hoping) that if this is followed on other missions where I/we got a black screen it fixes that.  If not, my other theory is that an auto draw of your weapon will fix the black screen since that is what seems to have fixed Thane's recruitment for me.  I am goig to play with both of these ideas today.

I just saved with Liara on Korlus and everything is perfect. I used a Korlus save where I did not move after the level loaded. Hopefully this will remedy the black screen everywhere.

...Yea no enemy's are here and i cant get to the part when i first see tali. . .time to go to the collector base instead freedoms progress, I think i need jacob or miranda in my squad with liara i had garrus instead i think thats where i messed up at i will try to re-do it with miranda an liara and see what happens.

I missed this before.   The most likely reason there were no enemies is that you had done that level already.  The game knows what's been done regardless of the plot flags or "teleporting" with the location field.  I would assume that the save you used that had Liara in the squad was from a game where Freedom's progress was already cleared.  So when you loaded it with the new location you were returning to something you had already completed.  If you do a recruitment mission and then uncheck the box and try to do it again it won't work either.

I think you have a point because now that i think about it the mission where i get the black screen is the ones where i moved around then tried to save it,  like at the collector base the very first moment i could save it that what i did no movement at all but on jack loyalty mission i moved first then tried to save so i will go back and re-test jacks mission but this time i will save with out moving hopefully your theory is ( i think it is ).

Oh and to finish off the collector base liaras in all the cut scenes so far its just shes just standing there also she immune to seeker swarms and samara is dead i have morith on my team( bad idea not my choice) but i tried to take out either garrus or tali so i could have a three man team with liara and who ever and it worked every body says their normal in battle stuff but liara is telling me to watch out for an asari after i finished the seeker swarms part i moved to where you have to fight on the floating platforms so i picked my squad tali, garrus and liara and who would have guessed it i am once again back at a four man squad( i have control over liara the entire end game mission so far ) this time tali is the one i cant control i don't really care so much over control over her just garrus an tali but not to say the least we raped them all it was really easy even though i had it on insanity now i am about to go in the part where i fight the human reaper.

I just did the Reaper IFF, Samara, Thane. The IFF was easy since you auto draw your weapon the instant that you appear in the level. There seems to be no problem when those two conditions are met. For Samara I saved just behind the two officers as you are heading into the crime scene because there is an auto draw as you enter the next area - but I didn't need it because there was no black. Thane's mission is still a bit of a problem though since you can't save at the very beginning of the mission and that one does go black. I just saved standing in front of the Salarian and then X through the convo until the game auto draws your weapon and the lights come on. There is no other way it seems to get that one to go.

I'm pretty happy now though, I have Liara in squad saves for a lot of my favourite missions and they all work flawlessly once you have the save to start them from so it's all gravy from here.

The PC guys have replaced a squad member with Liara ( much better solution ) and apparently if you pick Zaeed you end up puching Liara in the face during his Loyalty mission.

No problems so far after all the credits and stuff i went to talk to
people a it turns out i have to do grunt, jack  and jacob's mission even
though it says their loyal already im going to retry bringing liara to
jacks mission i let you know how it goes.

i wish we could get replace team mate i would get rid of jacob .

hopefully we still can replace one or come up with something a little more elegant than this in the future. I wonder what would happen if you inserted her on the Normandy.

If Jacob's mission starts off black make a save right before you talk to the girl before the first fight. If it's the same as Thane's you'll be able to talk to her in the dark and at the end of the convo when the game autosaves and draws your weapon it should be fine for the entire mission.

I started a new career and I am having no problems at all now. My old saves had been modded about a hundred times for hair, eyes, lipstick, and so many other things they just got buggy.

If Jack's mission is dark - I just tried to load it but it was already done in the Liara save I'm using so there was no one there to fight  it did load fine though.  If it's dark I would move the save to right in front of the cell by out processing so that when you morph in in the darkness you can just hit A to trigger the cut scene.  The game saves there and you auto draw your weapon so you should be good.  Liara probably won't be in any of the cutscenes at the beginning anyway - you never know though she is in some of them.  I actually noticed her standing in the distance in some of them too, she's not where the missing squadmate should be but she is there sometimes.

Is there anyway to "create" a new Shepard with ME1 plot choices just for ME2? Or do you have to edit an existing ME2 Shepard and do a new game+?

No you can do a new one,  save as soon as you get off the table in the med lab and then mod the choices, reset the end game state and then import that save with your choices.  It doesn't take long, you do have to sit through the intro twice though.  You can mod one that's going too.

Also, is there any way to delete old ME1 transfers that you don't want to use? I have several with the same name that can make things confusing sometimes.

You can delete the careers from the dashboard under the memory tab, you might even be able to do it from one of the main menu screens in game. Mine are all on USB so I can mod quickly so I just delete them on my laptop - if your going to mod a bit you might consider saving the game to the usb instead of the hardrive the game will play fine right from the USB.

Finally got tired of playing through the game over and over and looked to mod my saves now.

I started a new character with an import from ME1, saved right at the beginning and modded that save. I made the character level 30, upped his Paragon and Renegade (Nearly maxed Paragon), added some minerals and added credits. My question is if this will adversely affect my playthrough in any way and if it will void that character from being imported into Mass Effect 3?

Also, is there any place to get ME1 saves for the 360?

It won't effect your playthrough other than you won't have to do those things - which I'm sure is the point.  No one knows for sure about importing to ME3 but I would feel very safe doing what you have said.  On the other hand if you have 75 squad points, modded white hair, the Illusive man's eyes and 7 bonus powers you might run into a glitch or two.

I think there are  places to get saves on the net - if I remember correctly though there aren't any on the big save site because of fears of Microsoft lawyers.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Need to search around a little harder I guess to find a 360 ME1 save.

So you mean LivedToFight again and set the me1 flags and start a new game import me2 to me2 and select the game that's actually barely created ?
Is that it and also, what is the blazeofglory setting as I assume it's one where you die
What fun can be done by messing with that setting?

but if you do his trick it's better
just don't tweak hair and things like the levels but i really don't tbink levels will matter at all. They will be looking for plot flags and the power system will surely be so changed in me3 they might only care if you an adept or vanguard but who knows.
I have my legit games and my modded ones just in case

but i'd just do what david said as that's really the best way as you're not changing profile or device ID's from 'someone' elses save

Yeah that's the fastest way to create a new game with customized choices it only takes about 15 or 20 minutes and most of that is the intro movie twice. I've never used the blaze of glory setting, I don't know why Gibbed put it in.

I can't seem to get Gibbed's Save Editor to work. Is the download link on the front page correct? It is not an .exe file and is defaulting to Microsoft Visual Studio.

Also is there anyway I can tell the game to give me the right import bonuses (credits for being rich and stuff)?
