This is exactly why I'm afraid of joining. Not because it's a bad game(it's great from what I see), but because I'm afraid of the people. Either way, it might be a little bit like WoW in the sense that if you just stick to your own people and try to ignore everybody else, it shouldn't be a problem. I really hope that's the case. And I really f@cking hope I won't play online without at least a friend or two from here.
Maybe we should post a designated Bioware Social server when the time comes.
That would be nice. I don't want to be slammed by fellow Star Wars nerds. A fan once told be that "fans are the worst part of Star Wars". Personally, I think he was right. So, I'm adopting what some people do on WoW to avoid getting bullied by other people which is the thing I just stated above. I love Star Wars. I watch The Clone Wars series(don't laugh), I've watched the Original, I've read some of the books and even when it got bumpy, I still liked it. But I do notice how in the SWTOR forums(I generally hang out STAR WARS Discussion to avoid some of the chaos that goes on) it's just filled with complaining. Everyday it's about "Stop Lucas, he's ruining Star Wars!" or "This contradicts what was said in the EU! Lucas doesn't care!"
Well, you know what(be prepared guys, I'm about to start ranting)? These people should at least be grateful that Lucas and his team include material from the EU. The Star Trek EU existed longer than the SW EU. In terms of Star Trek, the EU was always a seperate universe. And that was fine with me. When I read Star Trek EU, I was OK with it not being canon what so ever. That's how George looks at. He even said himself that,
"When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one."
The Star Wars EU gets way more attention then it should have. That itself should have been enough. But no, fans aren't content to the point that they say "Lucas HATES Star Wars!". Jesus, what else do you people want? Remember when you wanted an other comedy-oriented series by made Seth Green based on Star Wars? Well, you got one. Remember when you wanted Mandalorians in The Clone Wars? Guess what? You got just what you wanted. Want more live-action? They're already making one. Want the both trilogies on Blu-ray? They're making it.
Gah, I'm so angry!
