Maybe it's not a bug, but it feels like one for me. When you summon an animal then go into another section of the map or w/e, the creature is unsummoned. Its rather annoying and if that wasn't the original intention i would like it to be fixed.

Bioware games have always been like this. When you "zone" summons leave.

Yes it is very annoying and surprised more ppl havent moaned about it since you have to wait until you can summon again and for intance if your in Orzammar your constantly moving from area to area.

other Sustained powers shut down between areas also.. like Miasma... which is worse, at least the Ranger summons you have three you can do.

Same for the Xbox. I get the feeling it is not a bug, but I think the cool down before summoning is a high penalty to pay for just zoning out. Fair enough if they have problems coding summons between zones but the cool down is total BS.

Its not a bug. Also happens if your mage uses re-animate dead sustained. I tried to have Leliana summon a wolf and then my mage to use re-animate dead when I was playing for extra tanking muscle, but when my zombie warrior appeared the wolf summons "died" and vice versa.
