Is this because of a proxy server problem (yes I do have to go via a proxy server) and if so can it be fixed? Is this game a MMOG? I am using an EEPC which works fine with games like "Medal of Honour" but I haven't even got to the stage of testing to see if it will run this game.

I have the PC version. I can access the Mass Effect web sites but I can't start the game because every time I try to do so it says I am not connected to the internet and I need to be connected to activate the game. Proxy server might well be the problem, but the fans around here generally don't know the ins and outs of EA's DRM, so I'm not sure you'll get much advice here. I'd recommend contacting their tech support.
