How the heck do you kill Flemmeth? She transforms to a dragon and my characters die almost instantly.  I'm using Shale with fire weps/armor level 7
PC Warrior w/ Blood Dragon armor level 7
Leilana with crossbow (but she keeps running into melee range)
Wynn healer

when battle starts i move my warrior and shale to do melee damage and they die in every scenario i try.  please tell me tips or Tactics to use. i actually got tired after 7th wipe and let Flemmeth live but still got Grimorie, I lied to Morrigan about killing Flemmeth.  anyone know if there are side affects to letting Flemmeth live??? Otherwise ill go back to my save and try to kill Flemmeth for the umpteenth time Posted Image

Tip 1 - Remove weapons from Lelania's swap.

Tip 2 - Use ice weapons for Shale, not fire.

Tip 3 - Control Wynne for the fight, and carry lots of lyrium potions.

Tip 4 - Level up some more. :P

For your tank:

When health < 75% drink lowest health potion

Carry a lot of the small ones and he will chug one every 5 seconds when it comes back off cooldown.

Copy/paste my reply from another thread:

Bring Shale, a healer and two ranged (important). Put a fire resistance crystal on Shale. Spread party out at range (including Shale). All she does is stand there spamming fire spit at Shale for a maximum of 30 damage. When she breathes, move him into melee, back him out afterwards.

Right click flemeth, wait for her to die.

Dropped her on Nightmare this way. No melee is the key.

What difficulty settings ? you are a bit low level honestly. The best would be to have a real tank above at at least level 12 so you can't be knocked back but you can do it earlier.

You didn't say what type of warrior you were or what type of talents shale has so it is hard to give you any strategies. If your character has blood dragon at level 7 than he must be almost pure str which means no con and thus bad tanking.

Dragons are straight-forward fights. have a tank go up-front and keep him healed, if you can't keep him alive you are just too weak, come back later.

Try to avoid having more than one melee or you will die from AoE

yeah my str is at 42 and con is like 22. i maxed str for the blood dragon armor :-( i have no specializations for my warrior and mostly have shield talents (shield bash, pummel, etc.) wynne has group heal, the problem is i use morrigan for ranged dps and now i cant use her. this is the first time i've ever died in the game on normal and refuse to play on easy. shale kinda sucks but i do have the chipped fire & ice wep/armor crystals

i have an antique crossbow that i can use on my warrior, but i dont even know how to view the dragons stats/level. is it just me or do you guys feel the game is broken in parts? i mean i level up often but my stat points are so much lower than the next set of armor that would seem like a natural progression for my characters. it seems if you dont max your character in that stat (str for warriors armor, helms, etc.). i guess i mean the armor and weapons are so far outpaced that you have to aimlessly level on random encounters, however i thought enemies scaled to your level? so why the skill restrictions on weapons and armor??? next why are all the items so ridiculously overpriced??? i mean i have done almost all the side quests in the wilds, soldiers peak, shale's town, lothering, mage tower and denerim but im still broke. money is really hard to come by, and buying flasks to make potions and weap/gear is crazy expensive. any ideas why crafting is so overpriced?

Well if you can kill high dragon and get the armor flemeth will a breeze (killed her on nightmare with leliana/wynne and me)

A good idea is to be kockdown immune, can make a huge difference as you can't use potions when you are knocked down. There is a level 12 talent that gives your shieldwall this immunity. Personally I only went for dragons once I got it.

Also, going with 2 melee against flemeth is generally very bad as she seems to enjoy using AoE attacks, thsi is why I 3maned her instead of bringing alistair as he was just dieing way too fast and wynne couldn't keep both healed.

Well the max level is 25 and you are 7, by the time you reach about mid 10's you will be able to wear everything. I agree there is a part where you have all thsoe high level gears you can't wear but eventually everything will be alright.

And the very expensive items are generally some of the best in the game, for example the axe you can buy in your camp is actually the best 1-handed weapon in the entire game, so it makes sense they are expensive.

yeah i figured the insanely expensive was really good, but 131gold for a weapon seems ludicrous. i mean i doubt i'll make that much money in the game with buying stuff for my crafting. but who knows :-)

maybe its that expensive cause you get to keep playing like in Fable for the 360. (crosses fingers).

Actually you can only play DLC at the end of the game, this is why I'm starting over, I will stop before the landsmeet and do every possible quests and wait for DLCs to come out so I still have acess to all the shops... and morrigan.

Flemeth can be defeated, with much difficulty, at level 12 assuming you have enough pots and everyone has enough arrows to fight at range.  YOU DON'T want to engage Flemeth in a melee brawl unless you have level 20+ characters or set the game to easy mode.

At level 12? I beat her at level 9, with one melee (Alistair) and three range. It's all about micro-management.
