I recently purchased the disc version of Awakening for PS3, and despite me owning Origins and having game data and save games on my HDD, Awakening won't work and just displays a message saying it needs Origins data whenever I try to play it.
Does anyone know how I remedy this situation, I can't think of anything.
Awakening PS3 refuses to work.

you need to download the latest update for dragon age origins for ps3 to be able to play the awakening.

No need to download anything: the required patch is on the disc and shows up on the XMB bar. Try installing it.

Make sure you've installed the patch for Origins.
Are the regions of Awakening and Origins the same? (there should be a symbol on the case somewhere that tells you what region they are).
I had exactly the same issue and found out that both games have to be from the same region (mainly thanks to these forums). I contacted EA's technical support about it and they said it wouldn't work and offered me a full refund for Awakening.
