Sten is garbage. I've never had such an unlikeable person in an RPG. He reminds me of Jaheira, except not as talkative.

I already decided Alistair IS gay...just from talking to him...
Of course since I'm "good" and trying to max all the approvals of him and always picking the super nice options...I've also decided my main is gay :|
I mean he had a conversation with Leliana about shoes for crying out loud...
I know what you mean. At one point he said my main (a guy) got all cute when he was defensive (or something to that effect). Seems an odd thing for a straight character to say to a same sex party member.

On ostagar, during the final briefing with duncan, when he spoke about dancing, i said something like "i want to see this" and he said "i could dance for you, but i need a cool dress". I don't remember all the speach, but anyway, it's not what you say to a guy if you're not gay. Or totally drunk, im mean, totally.nimzar wrote...

I'd totally go for Alistair.
He's cute and sweet.
At the end of the day, he's a whiny, petulant boy though. There's nothing manly about him.

I'm totally not seeing the reasons we were given by bioware why the male romance options weren't all gay as well. I think it be perfectly believable that Alistair could be gay. I just don't like it how the only gay guy in the party is bloody obvious beyond belief. I mean did we really need the leather loving skimpy elf in a dress sterotype to be the only option?
If I was gay, I am pretty sure that I would not be attracted to an Antonio Banderas wanna be, YMCA card carrying Village People reject in tight leather.
Just saying....

I dunno, if the guy who was like a father to me died, and my best friend later spared the man who basically killed him for the simple reason that the guy's good with a sword?
I'd get pretty pissed off too.

I am almost to that point in game, I so hope there is an option to let Alistair behead a certain someone.....

Yeah, my PC just lost both her parents, her sister-in-law, and her nephew. Her ancestral home was taken from her and the entire castle murdered so Howe could take charge of Highever. She had just as much reason to want Loghain dead, if not more so.
Alistair can be pissed. No problem. What he can’t do is leave the Grey Wardens during a Blight because his feelings mean jack when compared to the lives of thousands.

I am not too sure about that. Talking to him and learning his history I felt that he was a product of his past. I mean, he knows he's a bastard that no one actually really want around but because of his parentage people could or would use to thier advantage hence his aversion to anything that seemed to put him into the forefront. I remember the one part when he mentions how while in training the other templars would ostracize him, the commoners feel that he's putting airs be it true or not, wihle the noble born thinks he's acting above his station.
Which is why oddly enough for me, Allister doesn't seem whiny or petulant, but came across as someone who isn't sure who his real friends are, with the exception of the other wardens, and has been for his whole life trying to escape the one thing he cannot change. His birth.
Kinda sad really.
Still he has a strength of character of his own and it shows right at the end when you had to choose what to do with Loghain and right at the end, though in many ways I think part of the reason why he choose to sacrifice himself was to again escape the fact of his birth.

He can be a bit whiny, sure, and he's intensely angry at Loghain with an almost uncharacteristic lust for vengeange, but he is the guy in the party with the most lost and the greatest reasons to be angry and out for blood. A moment of weakness isn't enough to condemn a person in this game, especially considering that he does redeem himself when he finally does take the throne. At least, that's how I see it; even Loghain and Jowan were essentially decent people, underneath their less-than-decent actions.
Howe, though... Howe deserved every strike from Thorval's Luck that DapperDan dealt him.
And whoever was talking about how awesome Gorim was: they are absolutely right. There were many imagined brofists between him and Kylan Aeducan.

I fell in love with Alistair, for real. Head over heels. I was so upset when I messed up and let Loghain live, that I couldn't play for a couple hours afterward. I of course reloaded an older save so I could execute Loghain and keep my man. My first play was an Elf, so I couldn't let Alistair become king.. I couldn't lose him. And I convinced him to sleep with Morrigan because I couldn't bear the thought of not having a happily ever after with him.
I haven't felt like that about a game character since Carth Onasi.

Alistair, though, is a very well done character. Hell, most of the DA characters are on the level of Morte and HK.
Now, I just need to wait for someone to mod Deekin into DA:O...
