Well, if their games sell well I assume it's more likely that we will see more quality games from them in the future than if they sell poorly. Who knows how much patience EA has? So if those numbers are correct I think it's awesome!

Why does Japan get a good cover?
you ever notice how so many games have different covers depending on western/eastern releases? lok at all the Metal Gear Solid cover art. they always use really awesome Shinkawa art for the japanese releases but completely change them for western releases. a lot of games do this.
japanese covers tend to be much more artistic and minimalistic, whereas western game covers tend to have a lot of stuff on it that "gives you an idea of whats in the game"
its all about the difference in cultural ideology. different cultures can have a vastly different approach and interpretation to the same visual image.

Really? Weird. Why was it spread so much they were units SOLD? IGN, 1up, Destructoid,CVG, they all said it would be SALES. But it would make more sense, 2kk on first week is somewhat doubtful, but actually belieavabe if you think about total 6.6. I can't see any numbers more believable than internal, as most don't take PC sales or any digital copies.OSD wrote...
First of all, the press release regarding the 2 million number was how many had been shipped, not sold. ME2 sold around 500,000 or so in it's first week on the 360. I find it hard to believe that 6.6 million units were sold, especially considering it sold somewhere around 2-300,000 copies in February IIRC and didn't even make it in March's NPD.

VG and NPD aren't accurate. Like, not even a little bit. VG routinely "adjusts" their numbers because they realize they aren't right, and NPD only covers the U.S. and even then they only cover about 60% of the retailers in the U.S., and they don't cover some of the larger retailers at all like Wal-Mart.
So long story short, I'd believe Bioware long before I'd believe either VG or NPD.

Yup, I remember that news release as well when it happened so I really suspect the 6.6 (notice I didnt use a comma) million to be some fanboy creation number.
Sales slow down after initial month, not speed up as this story claiming in their numbers.
Plus I saw a totally seperate article that stated DA:O has outsold ME2 and last count for DA:O was 4 million sold.
numbers dont add up!

I'd like to know if console that exist only for marketing reason are still doing better, or if poeple started to realise that the whole console buiseness is only there to abuse them.

Anyway is the Japanese release of ME 1 pretty much the same as it was when it was released in the Western Territories or did they adjust the interface/clean up the engine so it would run properly?

That number is very much possible, given how much it sold in those first few weeks, and that it still appears in top 10 charts quite often. It has been roughly two and a half months now since then after all.
if it's combined me1 & me2 it's easily possible - you'd expect the sequel (if it's any good, and of course it was exceptional) to do double the numbers. if it does refer to me2 alone i am surprised but delighted, however "shipped" =/= sell-through.
and: vgchartz is a joke.

It was the least they could do for releasing the game 1.5 years after the North American release.

6.6 mil? Thats how much money they got. But if you remove the expenses of making, you will end up with 500000-1mil $.
Compare that to 1.2 billion dollars that Call of Duty MW2 got.
Dude if the Game would just make 1 Million $ then EA would shut down all MAss effect stuff IMMEDIATLEY! And fire A LOT of employes! Maybe even shut down Bioware...because that would be one hell of a flop!

Well I sure hope they made that much and actually really think so because the game was pretty much hyped, got a lot of good reviews and had more mass crowd appeal.
I also hope that the pc sells are strong, that EA doesnt loose to much faith in us pc gamers

Judging by the fact that the PC Collectors Edition is still widely available in Brand New condition for $60, I'd say that the PC sales must've been terrible.

Not really, I own Halo 2 Collectors Edition was easy avaible YEARS after it was released as the normal edition was long gone.
Collectors Editions do not really sell.
