hey guys and gals. what do you think would best fir my engineer, the flashbang bonus power or cryo blast? they both basically do the same thing but flashbang has a 1.5 sec longer cooldown but also has a much larger AOE and better side effects. So, what do ya think?

I think the FlashBang is one of the best powers in the game! You can also outfit your squaddies with Cryo powers. I guess the same can be said about Flashbang though. I guess go with whichever one you enjoy using most, and bring along a squaddie to operate the other.

It really depends on how you play the Engineer. I like my Engineer to be a heavy hitter, so I ignore Cryo and AI Hacking and go with Frag Grenade, which is probably inferior to Impr. Flashbang.
But I think Flashbang has better CC if you're prepared to stick with the cooldown

i think im going to go with flashbang. it has a much greater AOE and the cooldown difference isnt big enough to make me choose cryo blast over it.

Mechanic would work better with a Flashbang Engineer right? What with the increased power duration. I guess that would apply to a Cryo Blast Engineer as well.

Cryo only really needs 1 pt. Flashbang needs 6, preferably 10, and takes the bonus talent slot. That's a big win for Cryo imo.

Funny that no one has mentioned that the flashbang works even when the enemies are protected. Way better than cryo... actually it doesn't serve the same purpose at all, since cryo is supposed to incapacitate unprotected enemies and make them vulnerable to more damage, while the flashbang is supposed to incapacitate protected enemies so you can strip their defenses.

You can max out Flashbang and still have that 1 point left over for Cryo.
