I don't think any of it seemed out of place. And there isn't that much swearing unless you talk to Jack, which I think is appropriate for her. There is just the occasional "b-tch" here and there. And of course the notorious, "Don't **** with Aria."

May I join in the go fugging?

I didn't say swearing was paticulary bad. It's just in ME2 in was incredibly out of place and occasionally overused.

Looking at the coalesced file, there is a switch for "language filter." I haven't experimented with it to know if it does anything, but it's interesting that it's there.

I liked how they handled language filters in Brutal Legend, though that was too silly to be used in Mass Effect. A pause in the beginning of the story just as Eddie says "YOU STUPID MOTHER--" "Brutal Legend has some strong language, if you are offended by this, choose the censored option, if not, choose the regular option...

Censored option

Regular option"

Zaeed yes, but then I don't like Zaeed. Everyone else seemed fine to me.

There was a lot of swearing? i didn't think there was a lot, maybe if you ****** of jack and keep talking to her when she says **** off, that might make it full of swears

I thought that was pretty f*cking hilarious myself.

I would hear about at least one swear word a fortnight if I didn't use electrical appliances.

For some strange reason, I got an image of a microwave telling someone to f*** off when I read that...

That aside, as people have pointed out, swearing is common in the military, and I guess mercenary groups by extension as well. People have been criticising foul-mouthed soldiers for centuries, so I doubt it would have changed much in the future, and I actually preferred the increase in swearing in Mass Effect 2 because of this. Plus, as Captain Bailey says: 'this isn't the Presidium!' We're no longer mingling with galactic high society - t'is 'wretched hive of scum and villainy' time for us...

If I wrote the dialogue, every line would have the F word in it.

I like it that way...

I hate Aria's line. It sounds stupid...maybe it's the delievry or the creepy close up. Everyone elses rampant swearing is fine and if I was Sidonius I would have said worse.

This is coming from the viewpoint of someone who was a fan of Mass Effect 1. I mean, I liked that game because it was epic and retro and was funny and yet it had little swearing. Most games nowadays swear waaay too much. Gears could get away with it at some points but mostly it was stupid. The Call of Duties are also going down this path. In fact, the only 15-rated games (M in America) I haven't seen doing this now are the Halo games but even they over use the B words slightly.

And also, the use of language in ME2 was rediculous. I mean, the only two characters who got away with it were Joker and Jack. And none of it came out right to be honest. I was expecting Miranda at the start to say a more appropiate "abloodyhero!" which would suit her accent more. But her saying it slowly didn't really work. It's the same with the Physics obsessed Marines outside the Citadel.

Zaeed's language just seemed stupid. I mean, he was British. Most of the diolouge he was given was written as though an American was meant to say it. I mean, you don't hear very many British people saying "sonofa****" and this is coming from someone who was born and lives in Britain.

I NEVER said swearing was paticulary bad. It's just in ME2 in was incredibly out of place and occasionally overused.

You know, I'm just going to respond to this whole post with a word I've never used before, as I don't normally approve of its usage and generally find it excessive of people to say.

WAH.

Most of the swearing I heard was coming from me... usually when I ended up surrounded by husks/varren/klixen or when I charged into a geth hunter without an exit strategy.

Didn't mind the amount of swearing. But I did mind how the swearing was used. A lot of times, I thought it came out contrived and forced, not realistically. Normal people don't swear like that.

Too much? Not really. But when it was used, it was really awkward. I blame poor writing. I'm ignoring when Jack does, because that's just her, but the other times in the game, they felt forced and a bit weird.
