I prefer to play on 360, but my dad plays the PC versions. It's not that I have a problem with the PC version, I just feel more comfortable with it on 360.

So I hear... not to derail the thread, but how bad are the console versions? I kind of want to get it, but I've heard bad things about the dumbed down combat system...

Basically the console version is much easier to the point of not having much challenge, and there is no overhead view to help with assigning commands and other micromanaging (which is way they made it easier I assume since if I couldn't zoom out on PC I would get destroyed).  A lot more hack n' slash and less strategy to put it in a nutshell.  BUT it can still be enjoyable because it is a great game, it just lacks the strategy and tension in battle that I couldn't live without but others probably can.

How quick are the loadinbg times? On the 360 for me they last less then 15 seconds (thats not counting if you have it downloaded to the HDD which results in faster laoding)

On PC my loading times between different levels of the Normandy are less than 5 seconds, which is pretty nice when doing the rounds to talk to all the squad members.  Outside of the Normandy are a bit longer for some reason, probably around 8-10 seconds.

Okay... thanks. I do like my games to be challenging, so that's kind of a problem.

Yeah a few seconds isn't really a big deal.  I don't think either one is really superior.  I have played on both and as I said before they are pretty close to the same experience I just prefer being able to play anywhere on my laptop.  Plus I don't have to hog the TV either.

Ya some PC users kept bragin the loading times where so fast, just wanted to see the real facts. Only 5 to 10 second diffrence is not that bad. Thanks for that clear up.

No problem.  I do have to mention, though, that I was playing ME2 installed on the 360 hard drive.  I am not sure how much slower it would be when loading from the disc.

My loading times take ten to 15 mins and I don't have it downlaoded on my hard drive.

Yeah, then I wouldn't say loading times are really a deal-breaker at all.

Loading times are only 2-3 seconds here.

ME2 is pretty similar on PC and 360, but I prefer PC because it's a shooter. Shooter = mouse and keyboard.

I've noticed that a lot of players (such as ThatAverageGatsby and Sinosleep) play on the PC version. Do the majority of players play on the PC Version or is there about an equal amount of people who play on the systems. Also which port do you prefer?

i like playing on the PC for ME2 because it looks really nice and crispy with solid frame rate. i use pinnacle with x360 controller since i absolutely hate using a keyboard to move/walk/run

but for anything multiplayer or co-op i always get the xbox version cause i like playing with my friends online (very few of them have PCs for gaming).

My 360 died six months ago (and having heavily favoured my PS3 since mid 2008, I haven't felt like replacing it yet), so getting the console version of ME2 was out of the question.

In any case, being able to run the game at 1920x1200 with 4xAA, 16xAF and ~60 frames per second does make a noticeable difference in the graphics department - even if I'm otherwise often willing to compromise a bit on graphics quality and performance for the chance to park my butt in a comfortable chair in front of a larger screen, and relaxing with a gamepad instead of mouse and keyboard.

I actually tend to prefer playing shooters with a gamepad, but given the more complex controls in ME2, I do find mouse and keyboard quite useful here (haven't tried the 360 version of ME2, but I played both versions of ME1).

gameplay is better on the xbox. what normally takes a single keystroke on the xbox controller takes 2-3 clicks of a mouse and i have to drag the mouse pointer to the location on the pc version. it does sound like much, but it has a noticable feeling of detachment from the game. pc feels sluggish compared to xbox version and subsequently, the xbox version feels smoother and more cinematic.

i will agree for the most part with navigating the interface on a controller, but none of what you are saying here has anything to do with gameplay or cinematics. since neither version require this type of interfacing during the actual game or cutscenes.

the only time the mouse pointer comes out in the PC version is during bypass circuitry and the menu screen. neither of those moments have any gameplay or cinematic relevence. about 98% of the PC version can be played on a controller.

yeah, i meant to write "it doesn't sound like much" because ultimately it is a very very small detail. and it is pretty exclusive to the interface, but i still find it makes the entire game feel a little more clunky, awkward and subsequently, less cinematic. just imo

I played ME1 on xbox before I got it for PC, and liked the setup so I still play ME1 on my Logitech controller. However, with the new combat in ME2 I switched to mouse+keyboard.
