I played ME1 on xbox before I got it for PC, and liked the setup so I still play ME1 on my Logitech controller. However, with the new combat in ME2 I switched to mouse+keyboard.

out of curiousity, im wondering what aspect of ME2s combat system requires more than what a controller is capable of?

im only asking because i play ME2 on a controller on PC and havent found anything lacking in terms of gameplay function. seems about the same as ME1 to me.

I enjoy it just fine on the Xbox.360.

But now i'll leave because I already sense heavy PC fanboy-ism incoming.

"Look, ma! No fanboyism yet!"

"That's because people with pc's have better things to do with their time, son. Now run along."

 Didn't want to dissapoint.

360. ME and ME2 where built for the 360, while PC version is a port. I have seen that there is alot of bugs and while the PC have the mods (no longer a big deal since it is poseable to mod ME2 on the 360) I my self perfer the controls on the 360.

Also why do people say the 360 is a port version? Did you guys follow dev? The PC version is in fact the port..........

ME1 for the pc was a port of the xbox version(and a crappy one at that). The pc version of ME2 was developed side by side with the xbox version though. Neither are ports.
I've played both versions of ME2. If my pc was lower end I'd prefer the 360 version honestly. The extra hotkeys and faster load times are nice, but hardly a deal breaker. The game does feel at home on the xbox. Never dropping below 60fps with everything turned on at 1680x1050 is hard to pass up though. I can't go back to the 360 version after seeing how the game runs on my laptop.

I prefer PC, its better for optimal performance in gaming/graphics/mods in my opinion. Another reason, and i know others might find it weird but I just really prefer the keyboard and mouse over a controller.

PC by far for both versions. Aside from being far easier to control, ME1 on PC had additional stuff, a better interface, better inventory management and a Mako that wasn't a dog to control. Far less texture pop too, and a smoother framerate. Better decryption minigame as well.

ME2 is easier to control on the PC and has the quick keys there. On top of that, I can get some alternate outfits thanks to modding files that are decent and not pro-Cerberus.

Having played the games on both Platforms, i think i still prefer the 360 version.

The PC version does have some advantages it is easier to Mod, better frame rates, and slightly better graphics in some areas, my dual 8800gt's are getting a little long in the tooth and I can not justifiy an upgrade at the moment.

I have not noticed any difference in load times between my 360 and PC. I just  prefer most games on console as I know they will play for the most part right out of the box and there is no question as to if my system can handle it even if I meet the specs.

PC.

This has less to do with preferences in control schemes, visuals, modding, etc. (Though they make a compelling case), and more to do with the fact that my XBox overheats unless the room temp is 50°. Can't be assed to open the thing up and do something about it, not when I've got the PC sitting 5 feet away.

I've never played the PC version, but from Youtube videos I've seen and stuff people have said here, apparently you have more hotkeys, so you can basically do everything without pausing. Playing as a Sentinel, I did find that I often had to pause the game because I could only hotkey one power per squadmate, and it's a bit annoying. Not a huge issue or anything, but that's the difference.

I play on PC and rather pause the game to use powers than use hotkeys, also applies to Dragon Age. Just a personal preference really.

I play and work on PC, Microsoft gets enough of my money from it, and i'm not rich enough to buy a PS3 :D

Though those Slim models would be in my price range.

Try dusting it out. My 360 was doing the same thing. I brought out the air compresser and blasted air through all the vents. I was surprised with the amount of dust that came out. After the dust cleared I said to myself, "I should have done this outside." I live in the desert and it is very dry around here. Everything gets dusty within a few days. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

I originally bought ME on the 360. I played it for two years before I bought my gaming PC. I decided I wanted ME for PC that way I don't have to worry about the backwards compatibility of future consoles. I was going to use a femshep for my PC and keep my male shep on the 360. After I saw the improved framerate and (slightly) sharper visuals I immediately recreated my original shep (took over an hour) on pc. I plugged my pc into my tv, bought a sound card to get 5.1 audio from my ht, grabbed a tv tray and used my wireless keyboard and mouse to play from my chair centered in front of the tv. I can't play any other way.

I am unsure if I will play it again on the 360. I have both ME1CE and 2CE on both pc and 360. I have to complete the set when ME3 comes around but I may only play on the PC.

ps. I still love my consoles.

I know it's probably better on PC, but it's the same exact game on 360. The graphics are still top-notch, the game didn't lose any story.

It's obvious ME2 was designed ground-up to run on the 360 just as well as on the PC, unlike Dragon Age.

I played ME1 on 360 and that's pretty much why I play ME2 on 360. Also, there aren't any SERIOUS mods (no new areas etc.), and I'm still hesitant about modding ME2 saves because we don't know how ME3 will react to them (probably overreacting here).

The only real inconvenience that ME2 on Xbox has is the disk-switch, but in a 30+ hour game experience, getting off the couch twice to switch a disk out is not really a bother.

Speaking of which, is it possible to avoid the disk switch if you install the game on the HD?

Nope. I still installed it like every other 360 game because the disc drive noise drives me insane, but you do have to switch discs. I can understand why they did this, but it annoys the crap out of me.

I am PC gamer and have a weak spot for eye candy. So that means no consoles for me ever. ;)

I grew up as a PC gamer because I was lucky enough to have parents to buy decent computers, this was in the 90s. Now that I am on my own, I can't afford to buy a computer every year or even own a computer to have the specs to be better than an xbox with an HD television, just isnt in my budget. Who knew working for a non-profit helping people doesnt pay much?

I would assume the PC is better.

Well I would love to play the PC version but unfortunatly my laptop has a terrible graphics card and my PC is well ancient in computer lifetime terms and moves like a snail on square wheels.

But in a week I should have my gaming computer ready so its all good.

Even though I have only played the 360 version and I do enjoy it. I will say the PC version is better because of the ease of use with mods.

ME1's inventory worked fine on the PC. It was easy to control. You would find too many items in loot, though. If they would just reduce that amount then things would be fine. You were able to compare the stats of the items in your inventory with your currently equipped item. Same for team members. That even worked in shops. Great system. Maybe BioWare could have made some minor changes in the interface, though. I also loved that it was accessible everywhere.

I don't want to start a Holy War about this subject and ME2, though. I am not willing to derail this thread. ;)

I suspect that ME1 was designed as a PC game at first then built up for the Box after the passage of Micro$oft.

One proof is the inventory, very clumsy and uneasy to navigate on with a pad yet so typical RPG and functional on PC.

ME2 on the other hand feels like direct designed for the consoles : no micro management, 1 key/button hit to take cover/run to cover, removal of crouch to avoid confusion, better auto aiming, more action ...

I play on the 360 because I have always loved my Xbox, and I have always played shooters better on a console (for me: controller > mouse). I just like playing on an Xbox better than a PC. However, I wouldn't be opposed to playing the PC version (maybe a 3 game bundle down the road).

Do I prefer it on the 360 or the PC......Hmm...

Well, I play it on the 360. Why? Because I bought the first one on the 360. Because it was out long before the PC version. So naturally when ME 2 came out I got it on the 360 as well in order to continue my character.

Its NOT MY FAULT!!!!! WHAT??? Sometimes I have an itch to try it on the PC. But Im not going out and buying it again just for that. So, my ME experience will always be on the 360 because that system had it first. What can ya do?

People are going to choose what they have been using longer. I like the console b/c those are the controls i'm use to. But if you normally play the pc you would like those controls. Also, graphics wise; it isn't a competition between a pc and 360 b/c it just depends on your quality. My 360 has much better graphics than my pc b/c i have such a high quality tv, but this could also work the other way around.

so what i'm saying is, whatever you spend the time and money on is what you'll like more.

The only games I play on the PC are strategy games and MMOs, and I no longer play any MMOs. I prefer consoles myself for shooters but it is just a personal opinion.
