God I could think of a better reason than that. Your comment about Ashely makes me wonder sometimes, if I am the only one who actually listens to the dialog of the characters.

They have nearly the same exact dialogue in ME2.spg007 wrote...

I haven't imorted Ashley to ME2 but I thought Kaidan's attitude towards my male Shepard was well done. He wasn't a jerk and he didn't accuse my Shepard of being a traitor. Instead he simply pointed out that Shepard might be blinded by Cerberus out of a sense that he owes them something. When Garrus/Shepard accuse him of being blinded by his own feelings on Cerberus he agrees...
Then he basically says "Good luck, but I can't be part of this". Fairly mature I thought. Just because he respects Shepard doesn't mean he should just drop anything and join up with him. He's got his own priorities and opinions too, after all.

Sometimes I don't agree with you, but I agree completely with you on Horizon.

I didn't find either Kaidan's or Ashley's appearances (or Liara's) to be all that satisfying in Mass Effect 2. Considering how the Alliance and the Council treated Shepard (and how Ashley's always been treated poorly because of her grandfather's reputation), I doubt Kaidan or Ashley truly believe they can stop the Reapers through all the red tape and without Shepard's help.Shandepared wrote...

Kaidan, Ashley and Liara all know about the Reapers and that the galaxy can end if they don't do something about it, so there's no reason that they shouldn't join Shepard when he's the only person capable of stopping them.
It's fairly ironic that of all the former teammates Shepard had, the two humans are the most resistant to joining Shepard because of a pro-human organization.

What was done with the Alliance and Council in ME2 was subpar writing in my opinion.

Liara is being pig-headed, but Kaidan at least indicates that he fears that Cerberus is really behind it and that they're manipulating Shepard. Kaidan doesn't know he's in a video game and so for all he knows Shepard could have had the wool pulled over his eyes, leaving Kaidan and the Alliance to fight the battle without him.

It's almost a little creepy how comfortable Garrus becomes with Cerberus. "I wish we would have joined up with them sooner." Combine that with his statement that he's a "bad turian" and I wonder...

Has anyone ever tried importing an ME1 save where both Ashley and Kaidan are dead (using a save editor, I guess)? That would be fun to watch -- if it doesn't crash, anyway.Kaiser Shepard wrote...

a) It crashes (most likely)
c) The scene skips entirely.

I'd prefer B or C, just for the hilarity of it!Collider wrote...
Bioware has mentioned that changing plot flags like that makes it likely for your save not even going through. If it does go through and you get to Horizon, I'd imagine that
a) It crashes (most likely)Shepard talks to no one (poor Shepard)
c) The scene skips entirely.
