The combat in this game is terrible, absolutely terrible.

So can someone please tell me why he deserves to have the abuse he has had thrown at him over that? I must admit the title of his thread is probably not ideal but c'est la vie.
The first 5 replies to his post were derogatory. I would get an attitude aswell if mine and his situations had been reversed.

I'll dispute it as well. When mage specializations were leaked, a few of us were rather suspicious about the mage tanking possibilities.Sylvius the Mad wrote...
I dispute that. Long and hard have I argued that the best party in party-based RPGs is the one with the greatest possible number of mages in it.OurSacrifice wrote...
Not once was there a discussion about the most VIABLE party in the game being 4 mages since they can wear heavy armor as well.

Please Bioware, please please please for the love of God, do not change the combat any further, as it's perfect the way it is. Not everyone wants to have enemies fall over in a single blow. Some people LIKE that the game is tough and that combine requires thinking and a bit of micromanagement.
Because more auto-pause options and better AI will cause you to kill enemies in one hit!
The problem with your thread, OurSacrifice, is that you never really bothered to explain what kinds of fixes you are looking for. Instead, your OP consists of several complaints about the combat system and how it demands excessive micromanagement. As a result, you have made the critical mistake of relying on the reader's intelligence to properly discern your message. Whether out of laziness, stupidity, fanatic devotion to Bioware, or whatever, most people's minds here are unaccustomed to the sheer strain of trying to figure out what someone actually means. For some of them, the sheer act of even reading your entire post is too much for them to handle. So, instead, it is easier for them to jump to conclusions and interpret it as "he's complaining about combat, therefore he sucks at combat and wants people to dumb it down!" and confidently assure themselves that they have understood you completely, while engaging in such phenomenal stupidity.
As far as I can tell, you want:
1) Better NPC AI
2) Better party AI
3) Actual explanations of combat mechanics in tooltips, etc. instead of having to put up with trial and error.
4) Better pause control.
Am I right? All of these seem like reasonable requests to me.

haha, seriously..you know when I see Alistair standing in the middle of a melee fight, not acting, while being himself set on aggressive, as well as a whole load of tactic rules defined to attack anything on sight, I find it hard to blame the player. This, is just one of the many examples of why people are that upset, and I feel TC's frustration over this because Bioware delivered a whole lot better than what this game is.

I don't say this often, but it applies here. Epic Fail.
