You sure? remember, you need shield expertise to be immune to knockdown.beancounter501 wrote...
Still, Shield Wall does not seem to be as foolproof as Indomitable. You still Knocked down from things like Earthquake/Grease/Fireball. But Indomitable does not. Kind of strange.
Can 1H and Shield be dps?

^ W/o checking, I'd have to second BC. Shield Wall makes you immune to direct knockdowns. Earthquake, Fireball and whatnot are area spells, not direct. Indomitable makes you immune to knockdown, period.

Random's numbers on page two are total damage for the skills, not per hit, which is what I was asking. With all shield talents, tier 7 Duncan's Sword and Fade Wall with 42 strength, 7 armor penetration, and +15% critical damage, I am consistently, against all targets, finding that critical shield hits from Overpower deal the same damage as the non-critical hits from Assault, the only difference being the size of the font used to display the damage.
Edit: Shield Wall does not prevent falling on your ass by Earthquake. Testing Hurl Rock right now(It's pretty much the same as fireball)
Edit 2: Ok better result list for Shield Wall does not prevent Knockdowns from: Grease, Earthquake, or Blizzard. It does work vs Fireball, Hurl Rock, and Rock Barrage. Essentially, it works against a knockdown caused via a strike or projectile, but not a persistent area effect. Indomitable, since I went ahead and tested at the same time, works against all of the above.

Yhea, S&S with Shield Wall is not like Indomitable at all. I frequently hit Oghren with Earthquake and Grease. Neither spell knocked him down. Alistar with Shield Wall was knocked down all the time from those. One of the big synergys with a mage! THis was around level 15 - so he had the full shield line.
Shale was also immune to grease and Earthquake knockdown. Now that I think about it so was all the Shpeshifted forms. Just Spam Grease and Earthquake at your two hand Warriors and watch everyone else get knocked down.

And since Shale was mentioned, she is indeed immune to Grease, Earthquake, and Blizzard knockdowns, but not Fireball, Hurl Rock, or Rock Barrage.

I think knockdown is also worked out against your physical resistence, so provided that your tank has enough PR, they should withstand Earthquake, Blizzard, & Grease. They should slow down & have resisted show up, but I don't remeber falling down. I actually had a lot more trouble with Two Hander with indomitable on than a SS with a shield wall on. But then again I always spend on all Shield talents. Plus shield wall gives me 5+ Armor & 10+ defense and not just 10+ defense as it is stated in wiki.

Running any combat/skill mods? in 1.03 at least Shield Wall is +5 armor and +10 defense. Anyway, even with 100 physical resist you're not guaranteed to make the resist check 100% of the time.
On another note, this seems to be the longest thread in this forum section, rather amusing.

I think we can assume that most of the AI mages in the game does not have enough spellpower to be able to cast strong enough spells. I had PR of only 73 and resisted PR checks just fine through the game at Nighmare difficulty on DA:O with a SS.
Awakening might be a different story.

I used party mages to test. And honestly, most of the knockdowns I deal with are a result of friendly fire.
