I didn't buy it.

Basically, while trying to track down Shepards body, Liara met Feron, a drell, who helped her, was an agent for the Shadow Broker, and was also working with Cerberus.

At the begining of the 4th comic, Liara even states her own desire to kill Feron. Then, after he claims that he's not a mercenary, and the Shadow Broker selling the body to the Collectors "disgusted" him...all of the sudden they are best friends? He then makes a move to stall the sale of the body to the Collectors, and...basically...Liara ends up stealing the body and leaving him behind because she couldn't handle fighting a single, UNARMED, Collector.

It was weak...Not that the comic series was very good to begin with...but I was hoping for some kind of payoff. I most definately did not get any. The only real resolution was that we saw how Cerberus ended up with Shepards body. Instead, it brought up the NEW question of how The Shadow Broker/Blue Suns ended up with the body.

Everything that's been done with Liara since ME1 has been to the detriment of the character.

She was never that interesting to begin with.

...

Easy Liara nerds, it's just my opinion.

I didn't buy it either. The comics, while fairly pretty and colorful, were all about action rather than character development or plot resolution (or things making logical sense). Which makes them a fairly big disappointment in my book.

Hopefully, the fact that they left out some fairly significant details means that they're saving it for that rumored Liara/SB focused DLC.

The comic fails on so many levels.

I'd consider some Batman titles as such.

It reminds me of comics from the 70s and 80s: campy and stupid.

I've never read the comics.

Does she have a thing for Feron?

Actually, I considered the comic to be a fairly decent interpretation. Also, just because she didn't fight the Collector doesn't mean there wasn't a good reason for her to back out. It seems like you went in wanting to find holes.

Not that I could tell.  The OP's description of what happened is pretty accurate.  Feron lies to her several times, she gets mad, then seems to dislike him less when he claims that he's "disgusted" by the collectors.  There's not a hint of romance (unless it's so subtle I missed it?).  They don't really even come across as good friends...
I think the reason that she wants payback for his death is because he sacrificed himself so she could get Shep's body back.

That's the rule with the comics. They are cheesy. If you want all questions answered in a most thoughtful & thorough fashion, get War & Peace.

Oh, thanks for this answer.

She was so hellbent on him in ME2 I just really wondered.

You reunite with your lover and she pulls away from an awkward embrace and starts babbling about how she absolutely must devote her entire life into avenging this other guy and your mind starts to ask questions.

Yes.  The entire point of her quest, to bring you back, and here you are.

Liara: "I must do something else.  I'm a highly respected information broker.  I must kill the Shadow Broker because of the unknown fate of some triple-timer.  I have spent my entire life studying Protheans and know the fate of the galaxy is at stake.  I can't express my feelings properly because people are watching us, and you didn't hack any terminals for me yet."

Yeah, and then you read the comic, only to discover those answers are very lame. She talks about how "You weren't there! You'd didn't know what he did!" and start thinking she went through hell. But then you read the comics, and all the Shadow Broker did was send Merc's after her (which she kills in one or two pages), tries to sell Shepard's body to the Collectors, did a Star Wars ship fight, takes Feron, and that's it. The only thing worth noting is that Liara left Feron behind to save Shepard's body, and she think's she owes him. That's understandable... but becoming a cold-hearted, murdering information broker???

Quoted for truth. I have a save from ME1 where I romanced Liara, but I'm not going to import it until I feel that Liara lovers are properly compensated. At least Tali hasn't suffered from the new "dark and edgy" approach...yet.

Exactly...you think she went through hell, but all that happened is that she left Feron behind...a guy who, by her own admission, she wanted to kill up untill 5 minutes prior.

She finds out Shepard has been revived and her reaction: a shallow hug, and a peck on the lips (through your helmet) if you romanced her. This is a guy you've thought dead for 2 years, who "died" trying to save you and your shipmates, who is the galaxies only hope to stop the total genocide of the entire galaxy, and you can't go with him because the Shadow Broker beat down and possibly killed one of his own agents?

Nobody said it had to be good.

It just had to be an excuse to keep Liara the hell out of ME2.

It didnt matter how crap the cameo and its backstory was.
