Look, you can make her darker and more complex without just saying :"look, she's mean and cold! she won't even talk to you! LMAO!"
Bioware, please fix this somehow. I'll even humbly submit my own words and you can send me a wet foodstamp in payment...

The Redemption storyline was just as crappy and contrived as the rest of ME2 story. I wouldn't expect any better.
No, it makes sense. ME1 is like The Dark Knight Returns. ME2 is like The Dark Knight Strikes Again.
I'm sure you had a witty rebuttal, but the image is broken on my end.

Whether you love her or hate her, pretty nearly everyone can agree that Liara's characterizations in ME2 and Redemption are utter crap.
Bravo BW, way to bring your fans together. /rolleyes

Additionally, Liara needs to track down leads, she doesn't have the technical skill: why couldn't she do this on the Normandy? EDI can eat through that data in seconds. The Normandy can go wherever. Boom, dead Shadow Broker.
I've problems with her attitude and reaction to Shepard; considering she did everything for them, and Shepard's in her life right at that moment. So after all this time, caring for a "friend" who's probably dead and lied to you the entire time, all for a chance to bring Shepard back, and when they're back? A hug or a kiss. Okay. How about all that Reaper stuff Ms. Prothean Researcher would only know about? How is the Shadow Broker more important?
And if she has to stand up one more time, pace around, just to have another melodramatic monologue, then sit neatly back in her chair and go on about Mr. Shadow Broker...ugh.

And of course, once Liara confesses to Shepard why she's after the Shadow Broker, Shepard just thanks or gets pissed off at her. Could Mr/Ms. brick please console this girl? She just risked her life for you, on the magical chance you could become Cyber Jesus. Does Shepard even give a crap about being alive? Or is Shepard constantly going to be the character who's pure business "You did the right thing Liara. My mission is important." What? Double what if she's Shepard's love interest.
This. At least people recognize it. Question is: Does anyone at BioWare care?

Why is everyone giving Liara a hard time about not going with Shepard, and yet they give Tali a pass on the first meeting doing the same. It just so happens in the game, Tali's quest ends sooner than Liara's and almost gets Tali killed in the bargain. Yes, Shepard was taken from the SB, yes Liara gave the body to TIM to revive. But I don't think she really believed it would work, and she in her mind, got someone killed on her personal quest, thus she has a personal responsibility in her mind to get revenge for the life lost. Her quest doesn't end as quick as Tali's but it is still something she feels she must do. I understand and even approve of the basic character it displays.
You know, when I first read the title of this thread... err .. nevermind.
I kind of feel that mcsupersport has the right idea.
Liara does not know, for sure, that Feron is dead.
Liara has been without Shepard for two years.
If Liara was you LI, then she had to be wondering if she got someone killed or taken prisoner for nothing.
If Liara was not your LI, she was still in love with you, could not let you go, and is wondering if she got someone killed or taken prisoner for nothing. All she had is Cerberus' 'word' that they could save you. And turning you over to Cerberus, even on the chance that it could bring you back, was making her sick with guilt.
You return, and something came out of her decision, but she feels 'dirty' about the whole thing; turning your body over to Cerberus, and cutting and running out on Feron. Did she need to cut and run? Could she have faced the Collector? Maybe, but her main priority was getting your body to safety, and not risking getting killed in a confrontation with the SB, or the Collectors. Later, after turning you over, to Cerberus, she feels guilty about leaving Feron behind. She is seeking 'Redemption', by going after the Shadow Broker.
Not saying it was the greatest comic ever written. But I think Liara's motivations are not too hard to understand.

I agree.
This is what pissed me off, not that Liara did not join Shepard, on his mission, that Shepard seemingly had no time to console her, make love to her and tell her she was still 'the one', or at the very least have a long and open talk. They have not spoken in two years, they must have had something to say to one another, other than ' how is your own work going?'. One kiss, straight to business, and no meaningful conversation after that?
So wrong!

Shepard: *asking TIM about her old ME1 crew* Where's Liara T'Soni
TIM: She's assisting us in an important mission. She is currently on Ilos, investigating the Prothean ruins there. We hope she can uncover some information that will aid us in our upcoming battles against the Reapers.
Shepard: Awww, that's my Liara![]()

This would be a much better reason why she could not join shep and ten times better than the weakaxx plot they are having now. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Bioware, but they did drop the big ball on this one.

I'd consider some Batman titles as such.
Second this notion. There are some remarkable Batman Titles that have been shown to me by my best friend... in fact "The Killing Joke" was one of the best comics I've ever read. It's up there with some books.

Bioware is trying to be darker but if you have ever read the comic book "Crossed" now THAT is dark and ugly. Of course, I am not encouraging them to go that way.

Easy Liara nerds, it's just my opinion.
I get where your coming from.
Even though she was my choice in Mass Effect. That was only because I couldn't stand Ashley's character. Still killed Kaiden though as I felt horrible letting a lady get blown to bits.

Just another example of how the writers completely screwed up the central character in ME2. There are so many instances in the game where you are not given the obvious option and none of the available options make sense. The writers seemed so wrapped up in creating the new characters that they completely neglected the most improtant one - Shepard.
