I just recently figured out how to work World Adventures on my PC, and it lags like nobody's business. Sims 3 on it's own was just fine. Sure, the loading time was pretty long as I have tons of CC, but it didn't lag in the game like this. Everytime I turn my camera around just a little I have to wait 2 minutes for it to unfreeze. It takes so long to load anything, especially in appearance editor. Imagine a 3d, virtual internet but with dial up.

I honestly can't handle it anymore. It's driving me mad! I have 4gb of RAM! 4! The proper requirements are 1.5gb for Vista. I have two drivers, both with 200+ gb free space. I use window washer all the time and even though I have about 10 games installed, they all work great.

I have had most of the store's CC since Sims 3, ever since getting WA, it's gotten really slow. I reinstalled both, still having huge issues. I am updating Vista now because I haven't for a while. Hopefully that helps.

Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU, Q9400 @ 2.66 GHz
Memory: 4.00 gb
32 bit operating system, Windows Vista

If anyone can help me, I would be so gracious, thank you.

That's a link to a topic on a modding site I used to frequent.

From what I read World Adventures isn't compatible with CC, mods, hacks, etc?

It was actually a patch problem. There is a workaround. It's a bit fiddly, but it works ;)

I do think it's something to do with that, however I've talked to lots of modders who did the same workaround, and their PCs work it just fine.

While getting your OS up to date, also update your nVidia drivers. See that your C drive has at least 2Gb of available space. Any apps running in the background that might be sucking system resources?

My C drive has 275 gb of free space. I've tried closing all the the programs, it doesn't help. I also just updated Vista, and am about to update nvidia drivers.

Bah. I am so upset I want to punch a kitten... metaphorically.

I blame it on Vista

( I do blame everything on Vista, though, so don't mind. It's still shocking how often i'm right)

Edit: On a more serious note, i doubt it's hardware related. The game worked smoothly once, theres no reason for it to stop that all of a sudden. Windows, of course, might stop working all of a sudden, but third party programs are usually fine - unless you change something.
Any chance to pin down when it started to slow down? Was it gradually, e.g. the more CC, the slower, or sudden, e.g. a certain CC and all went to hell?
Maybe save all your mods/CC, make a fresh reinstall and see how it goes. If it runs smooth, add your stuff back one by one to make out what causes the issue

Sounds like it's either CC related or CC+WA related, so try
1) Fresh Install of Sims 3 Vanilla, fresh install of WA, no CCs - when it still works, gradually add CCs
2) Fresh Install of Sims 3 Vanilla, add CCs - when it still works, add WA

I've surfed around, turns out it's Maxis'/EA's fault. Any amount CC makes WA lag like a baby hippo.

Well, I spent hours converting all my CC to dbc format, hell if I am going to get rid of it, the bums.

Good to know you got it fixed! I don't play the Sims. From EA, only BioWare. :P

I think there's some memory leak problem or whatsit going on as well.

By the way, if in future you're frustrated by any technical problems that arise with more EA/Sims bugginess, I would suggest taking a peek at More Awesome Than You, homesite of J.M. Pescado who hosts the Sims 3 Awesomemod (which really, truly SAVED Sims 3 gameplay for me because it fixed so many bugs and other nonsense). Unfortunately Pescado and the gang don't treat 'noobs' nicely and it's the nature of the place to be mean to newcomers who 'ask stupid questions', so I really wouldn't suggest posting until you develop a thick skin or figure out the lay of the land. But Pescado knows what he's doing and the logic/programming-based approach to technical / bug discussions have helped me figure out the internal workings of the game by quite a bit. I find the site most useful when new patches / fixes come about - because they inevitably break *something* in the game and prompt a flurry of angry discussive posts about what went wrong. Do try it out. :)

I did get it fixed. Turns out I just had to move my mods to the WA folder. I also used a tracker to find out which of my mods were screwed up.

MATY is a cool site ;D

I like their sense of humor, which is why I keep going back for laughs. Like how they admit that some bugs are incomprehensible and hence you have to perform "voodoo" (shaking your PC, screaming at it, turning it off and on, waving chicken feathers in the air, etc) to supplicate your game into submission. Sums up my feelings exactly about the randomness of it all - and relieves some of the frustration of playing Sims 3, honestly.

Indeed. Sims 3 is a bugtastic game, and it is a very flawed one. Especially the perspective transition. Very badly designed.
