Yes, a social faux pas, like using Chardonnay, perhaps, served with the wrong meat..

I have uploaded a char named "Woody," perhaps named after the oaken casks in which wines are aged.

Ugh, don't speak of such barbaric things, Cayenne.

Prude?! Just because I do not... prance about with the dock workers does not mean I am a prude! *sniff*

Lulz, being a prat is fun. Ritha isn't actually like that, though.

LOL "Woody" - I get it:lol:

"Oaken casks", It's not because she gives you one, right?

Or, perhaps, it is because she is a Wood City Elf, or City Wood Elf, or something, lol.

Yes, Oaken casks. While aging, the wine absorbs some of the oak flavor, which enhances taste, and also during aging, the wood aids in coloring.

And, hi again, Rivie.

Oh, my goodness, no! We would not want to overpower Chardonnay's "delecate boquet," by, um,..improperly pairing it with the wrong meat.

Some cuts can be quite strong and may sully the taste, and if served too cold, Chardonnay, could lose the light fruity, or buttery flavorings for which it is known. Absolutely dreadful.

Just change the o to an e and it should be fine and not affect anything. Anyway she is lovely and when people say you mispelled it you can explain why.

Best advice yet, Chardennay sounds fine by me but it is your name :)

Again, on the censorship of this particular name, BioWare comes across as silly, to me. Especially considering the MA-17+ rating for the game.

Except this site is not the game. In game they don't care because it's private, here it is public. As far as I know, looking around this site does not have a MA 17+ rating and this site is about BioWare and their products, not just Dragon Age.

I don't really want to go around a site where every second male character is somehow bragging about their very sacred spot in their name.

I couldn't really care if they do. Who really cares?

You could name your character/avatar/forum profile what ever you want and it wouldn't bother me even a bit.
HitlersAss, BiggusDickus, RearDelivery, ****** Mc********, Hardonfo Ryou, whatever...why do people even CARE about stupidity like that?

Well from what people have said it is probably that the filter picked up on those two words in the middle of the name, if so its kind of funny, but still I think I would register some sort of message to Bioware about it. The profanity filter..if thats what it is, just goes for what it sees, it doesn't reason. Maybe an adjustment can be made.

Thus far in my gaming career, haven't had to contend with a name not being accepted. But I tend to make up my names from words or other partial names to get the end result.

Hopefully this can be resolved for you.

"Shiraz" has a nice ring to it and seems to suit her.  Although it is a dark red.

A dark red? Shiraz is a muslim name. I think it might be a man's name but it's still anice one. I didn't know there was some booze out there called Shiraz as well. Oh well, you learn something new everty day :).

Well, other than an exercize in carthasis, and being able so socialize a bit, any struggle to get the name "Chardonnay" accepted here is like charging windmills.

I just thought Chardonnay was a pretty name that suited the character. It was not choosen for any potential vulgarity. I can use the name when I play the game, just not for posting.

I believe that any possible "harm" the name may have done, had it been accepted, has been exceeded by comments in this thread, lol.

Again, the character upload rejection is not a big deal, just a minor annoyance, and in my opinion, sillly.

However, I again, thank all the people who took the time to consider this issue, and post comments and suggestions, positive, or negative. Socializing is the reason for this forum, and I am thankful to BioWare that we have access to the Character Creation, and these forums.

Good luck to all of you during your adventures in Ferelden.

That makes me laugh. It's silly. My Char could be called Malbec or Pinotage or, if I'm bold Pinot Noir, but Chardonnay? Maybe they prefer red wine names? :P

The things we have survive these days... From a wine lover you have my sympathies.

I just don't see what warrants censorship on the forums at all, wheter it be characters or in-forum. The game is rated M. Shouldn't the social site specificly for a 'M'-game be "rated M" too?

This social site is for the entire BioWare community, not just Dragon Age players, though during the beta, we're the main users.

No it's not.  It's an old Persian city that predates any modern religion by a long time, and then was Zoroastrian for many, many centuries before it was conquered by Islam.

Probably becaus it is loaded into the social network and is used there.....I am sure it is no problem using it in the game.
