Baldur's gate was one of the most boring games I ever played though...seriously. I think people are wearing heavy rose tinted glasses when it comes to that game.

I never played it, but I keep hearing people around here praising it.

Realy? BG1+2, KOTOR, Fallout and FF6 had fantastic gameplay and fantastic story. ME was a choir to play because of it's gameplay. Nice try.

To you. I loathed BG 1 and 2 combat and nearly cried because of the gameplay. Hell it was hard to play through it. KOTOR was bland but bearable (mostly due to the abundance of dialogue). Fallout I never played FF6 is a JRPG and thus the gameplay was fine. Story to me was meh.

Nice Try.

Nice try? The games I listed have been cited for there gameplay, and having played them it shows an RPG can have both. ME was cited for it's story and charatcers, but critised for it's gameplay. The game needs solid gameplay, not just a story.

And ME2 was lauded for its gameplay and critizied for its story. The only thing I'm seeing is that there needs to be a better balance.

And BG to me had horrible gameplay. That is individual interpretation. DA for instance had some boring combat too. (Not to mention nearly endless).

And yes the game does need solid gameplay. But not at the determiment of the story which to me is what happened in ME2. But this is mostly individual interpretation.

ME2 story was still good, whop cares if it was not on the same level as ME? it was still a good story. The point that ME2 is the 15 highest rated game shows that gameplay is a must, and story is a bonus.

Whats the point? MEW3 is not going to be like DAO in length. It's hard to make alot of dialog for a short game.

Most of the highest rated games aren't RPGs are are all heavily gameplay focused. It being 15 highest to me honestly leans it more towards the casual lite RPG shooter game. ME isn't a heavy RPG.

I would like to see more dialog myself between the squadmates and Shep and more squad banter in ME3.  More banter between the squadmates themselves.  More banter in combat also.  It would also be kinda neat to go walking around the ship and run into a say Jacob and Samara for example, cracking jokes with the chef.
Something like that would be kinda neat in ME3.

No. They are fine the way the are. Really well balanced.

To the people saying that if you play RPGs for gameplay you're doing it wrong? Lol. WTF have you guys been smoking? We play whatever games we play for gameplay. If you want a passive story, go read a damn book.

Some people don't want to read and would rather play clunky gameplay.

Well, what can I say? Good for them! :wizard:

You want to know why? Because people who play games whant good gameplay, a story to me is a bonus, even in a RPG. Bioware failed with ME on so many levels it's not even funny. ME2 fixed, the story was still good. Legend of Zelda Ocarian of Time is a action-Adventure RPG and it is number 1 and has a fantastic story, fantastic gameplay and still has an outstanding soundtrack.

Really though, a game that I think is more in line with what I am talking about is Oblivion. No, the voice acting isn't as good, but you can talk to anyone you wish and they kept the npc dialogue simple and direct. It never seemed a chore talking to the numerous characters. There were no lengthy expositions like you got in ME1.

And right back to the individual preferences. Orcania of Time I personally didn't like to much either. So. *shrugs*

Alot of PC games are.  Console games are known for streamlining elements.  PC Games are known for throwing a bunch of **** into a system to see if it works.

Half the time it was the same thing and it was borining dialog. If anything a perfect example would be KOTOR. It had outstanding gameplay and a well-done story with a good twist and alot of dialog.
