For some reason both the paragon and Renegade option in the Tali vs Legion we're greyed out, so i took the side of Tali and lost Legion loyalty.

Now i'm doing the final suicide mission, to get into the shaft if i choose Legion he dies at the door, he's not loyal i understand, now i choose Tali and she dies too ?!?!?!

From what i understand Tali or Legion are pretty much the only 2 options for that job, why does Tali dies if she's loyal ?

Who is leading the second team?

If you pick someone wrong for the second team then she will die.

Pick Miranda, Garrus (if Loyal), or Jacob (if Loyal). Granted, I always have those three loyal. (I also have everyone loyal, helps with transferring my ME1 Shepards).

You may not have been able to use charm/intimidate due to a lack of paragon/renegade points... iirc, you need it to be at 90% to ensure both of their loyalties.

Anyway, it also depends on who is leading the fire team, like what has been said. NeroSparda explained it well.

Basically, to get everyone to survive the final mission, you have to pick the right combination of squaddies for the right job, and the right people need to be loyal.

Vents: Tali, Legion (and I've heard Kasumi, can anyone confirm this?)

Team leaders (both times): Garrus, Miranda, Jacob

Biotic Shield: Samara/Morinth or Jack

Hold the Line: Leave a loyal Grunt and a loyal Zaeed behind, and this should be enough to keep everyone alive, even if most of the rest aren't loyal (but if you're trying to keep everyone alive, do all the loyalty missions

Crew Escort: Anyone loyal, but most people choose Mordin, because he seems to be the "squishiest" and the best way to make sure he survives is to send him back with the crew.

Finally, only take loyal squaddies to the final boss. If they're not loyal, they'll die. In fact, this is the only way to kill Miranda, if she's not loyal at the final boss fight.

Hope this helps!

I had everyone loyal except Zaeed and Miranda (Don't have the Kasumi DLC yet)

My team: Tali and Legion everytime (I was an Adept)

Vents: Mordin

Bio: Jack

Escort surviving crew members: Jacob

Always selected Garrus to lead second team

Everyone survived except Mordin.

In order to keep both Tali and Legion loyal, side with Tali, and then speak to Legion afterwards for a renegade option to tell him that you were just bluffing Tali to shut her up, and he'll be loyal again.

As for the deaths, the guys above have it covered pretty well.  It's about who you pick and who's loyal.

With high enough Paragon, you can also tell them they are both wrong when the initial conflict breaks out between the two of them. They will stop arguing and both remain loyal.

The Vents, Team Leader and Biotic Shield info is correct (including the bit about Kasumi ;) ), although the obvious thing to point out is that they need to be loyal, well apart from when it comes to Miranda and the 'Diversion Leader' part, at that point you could have her not loyal and she'll stay alive.

Speaking of her, you can also get her killed defending the door as well if not loyal or on some occasions if loyal but not got many good door defenders (though the latter is hard to do).

Whoever is tech spec may get "shot in head" trying to close the doors. Survival depends on if passive power maxed to "4", and if loyal. I had Legion, Tali and Mordin be tech spec. Mordin got shot in the head everytime and died despite loyal and maxed out Salarian Scientist. He lives everytime as "escort" .Tali & Legion both survive tech spec, everytime I play. Max out Tali's "Quarian Machinist" to "Quarian Mechanic". The description at L4="Talis expertise in engineering.....Modest cybernetics and immuno-enhancers increase her health"

Whoever leads second party nearly always gets shot (even Miranda gets shot in the right side, but lives.). Survival depends on loyality and if passive class maxed to "4". Miranda's "Cerberus Tactician class says - Miranda's leadership tactics leave no one behind, giving an increased bonus to squad health." Miranda and Garrus as Fire Team leaders always survived everytime I played. Tali and Mordin always survive as escort. Anyone I've taken with me (except Kasumi, I haven't taken her with me yet) at the end to fight human embryo reaper, always survived. But, I maxed out everyone's "passive power" and made them all loyal (wanted the extra points too...) Only one playthrough did someone die, it was Mordin and he was Tech Spec. Never lost anyone else through any other playthroughs.

SUMMARY: Max out Passive power, make loyal, choose appropriately as everyone mentioned above.

^ Bolded is why Mordin died.  Tali or Legion (and perhaps Kasumi, still hasn't been confirmed that I've seen) are the only ones who can be the tech specialist in the vents.

The passive power has nothing to do with individual character survivability.  It's all about loyalty and choosing correctly.  Mordin is not a good choice for the tech specialist, so that's why he dies if you use him there.  Tali, Legion or Kasumi are the only ones you can use for that point, and their passive skills don't have to be maxxed, they just need to be loyal.

Which is why I said you need to pick the right people, and the right people need to be loyal. Posted Image

Huh, didn't know Miranda could die either of those ways.  Good to know!  But still, taking an unloyal Miranda to the final boss is the easiest way to get her killed.  She's the hardest character to kill off, you almost have to be trying for that to happen.

If you would have used Mordin as the escort he would of lived. I had the same Zaeed/Miranda non-loyalty and he lived.

I'm aware of that, but I was answering the OP where he states that both options are greyed out.
