Seriously, we've got Jacob playing shades of Kanye West and going on about "the priiiiize", Garrus dressed in godawful casual clothes acting like a rambling doofus and Thane getting all emo and weepy on our shoulders. Can we get a strong male character please?

You know, a strong male character can still have emotions. Strong and stoic aren't necessarily the same thing.

There's a difference between having emotions and needing to be "fixed". Is it so much to ask for a single romanceable male who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to take it? Even Kaidan seemed manly compared to what we get in ME2.

Not to mention Thane and Garrus are both pretty much the definition of 'stoic' anyway.<_<

Because every FemShep with common-sense stays faithful to Liara, that's why.

I would say this is probably intentional on the part of Bioware. Shepard is the strongest characte because she's  supposed to be the strongest character, because she's the protagonist. And, of course, since all these decisions are ultimately up to the player, it would be hard to implement that in such a way that didn't look like Shepard was taking the lead.

I heard that in ME3, there is some singularity in the space-time continuum that can open up if you play a FemShep where you run into Alistar.

Thane is NOT "emo". Unless you consider their conversations to flow like this:

Unless you're a female, I don't give a **** if you think the femshep romances are bad.

I was also kind of shocked how much Femshep seemed to want to "put-out" when you consider how much of a proud and seasoned soldier she would be.

I actually prefer the FemShep romances to the MaleShep ones. I don't think any of them are looking for FemShep to 'fix them'. I think you have three very different relationships to choose from.

Jacob is confident and casual. OK, his dialogue comes off pretty cheesy, even sleazy, but he still knows what he wants, FemShep knows what she wants, and they both take it.

Thane sees Shepard rekindle a spark in him he thought he had put to rest. He's a very measured, contained individual who had made his peace with the universe, or so he thought. Shepard reawakens something in him which he finds hard to deal with and is almost ashamed of (fear). He makes no secret about what he thinks of Shepard, however. H e also trusts her enough to let his vunerable side show, something I imagine few people have seen. Sometimes it's harder to show vunerabiliy than it is to be stoic and strong. It's not 'weakness'.

Garrus has been through hell. Shepard is a stabilzing factor in his life as both a commander and a friend. Initially, the prospect of sex comes up as a casual way to 'blow off steam', but once it's out there, he rexamines how he feels about her. I don't think that romance with FemShep had ever crossed his mind until she put it out there, and once it does a friendship based on mutual trust and respect and admiration develops into something more. Garrus is a stabilzing force for Shep as well (both MaleSheps and FemSheps have Garrus as somewhat of a 'rock'. It's even in his recruitment mission summery that his prescence on the Normandy will help keep Shep comfortable.) I think his 'dorkiness' comes from paranoia about spoiling an already good thing. He's good at pointing his gun at things, and thinking tactically, and no one can calibrate a gun or fix a mako the way Gar can, but let's face it: Garrus has never been the talking feelings type. Now, he's in a situation where he has to. (if they were both human, maybe they could just do it, but sadly, the interspeices thing necessitates a degree of planning, which always makes sex less than casual). Again, I don't think being more nervous about romance than gunfire makes him 'weak', I think it's a very understandable reaction from a friend taking a relationship further.

ALL the LIs (both ME1 and ME2, male and female alike) have vunerabilities of some kind. That's what makes a good character. If you can't share that vunerability with someone you have feelings for, then who can you share it with? As I said, sometimes showing 'weakness' actually takes a lot of strength. And if you do want a strong, casual, sexual relationship, Jacob is there.

This is just IMO, though. All the romances are open to degrees of personal taste and interpratation. Subjectivity for the win, as it were. :) Sorry you don't enjoy them.

Your opinions != everyone's opinions. Most people think the romances are pretty damn skippy.

Thane is emo and weepy? He's going to die, and for the first time since his wife's death, he's actually cared about someone enough to feel like life is worth living, it's the most emotional romance scene in the game (in my opinon, don't wanna flame anybody), sorry if none of the romances tick your boxes, I'm a man so idk

I'm male and I also thought the romances for femShep sucked. Except maybe for Garrus, but I wished there was another human male character.
