I'm female and I liked most of the romances, Garrus was the sweetest and best out of them all, he had a good balance of not being too needy or standoffish.  I would have really like to see what Mordin romance would be like, I can see him singing to you badly with a book on how to "romance" safely

Jacob's romance is SEVERELY underrated. He's actually a very nice guy, but for some reason he exudes an Aura that makes all FemSheps within 10 feet of him go into some kind of animal heat and they have to make Will saves at DC 25 so they don't try to have his babies. I mean seriously, FemShep doesn't even /try/ being romantic around him. Which is why he goes all "The priiiize" at the end. He's bending to Shepard's will.

Meh the FemShep romances in this game were boring to the point now in my playthroughs I don't even romance anyone anymore. Garrus' romance was funny and probably the best of them all but I was disappointed the way the scene ended.

Thane was just blah to me also and the only good thing about Jacob was seeing his nice body.

I did complete one ManShep playthrough and romanced with Miranda. I enjoyed it a heck of a lot more then the FemShep romances. I mean even though I don't like Tali even she has a cute romance and Jack cries a river. I think the ManShep romances are better in ME2.

I miss Kaiden!

Having a strong male lead overshadow femshep? Heavy risks...

Now that I got that out of my system, I would say that Garrus is the best female romance and Tali is the best male romance - both have had two-plus years to develop their feelings for Shepard.

However, I have yet to see Jack's romance, so Jack's may end up better than Tali's (maybe).

ehm... also, Garrus romance freaked me out for a bit.

But i'm all for Legion. You can go on double dates with Joker and EDI.

Because the writers don't know how to write personal, meaningful romance outside of tacky lines and melodrama?

Which is amusing because the Jack, Tali and Thane romances are among the most touching romances I've ever "experienced" in a game.  I'm not sure if you were joking or not but either way the generalization isn't a good idea.

As far as femshep romances, I actually thought they were quite good.  Jacob was stereotypical, sure, but he knew what he wanted.  Garrus is like Tali, both of whom have the most meaningful relationships in the game imo because of their previous history with Shepard (and their outstanding loyalty missions).  Thane was great as well, mostly because his character is extremely well written and the romance scene was very powerful.

I guess it all comes down to personal taste (obviously) but I honestly can't understand why I see this complaint come up so much.

Would have preferred if Samara romance could have been culminated or a cure for Morinth could be found. Also, I approve of Zaeedmance and if a romance DLC comes out, yes, you should be able to flirt with Grunt and Legion since it's funny.

I was also kind of shocked how much Femshep seemed to want to "put-out" when you consider how much of a proud and seasoned soldier she would be.

I only had this impression with Jacob her tone was very irritating.   Once I got past the first interaction conversation, the tone got better, but it's taken me 3 games to overcome the pushiness factor instead of saying she's backing off and ending the romance before it begins.

Personally I like Thane's romance.  Garrus my Shepards have  never been romantically attracted to him, but I did like the option to flirt with him and decide we were better suited to blow things up together.   Kadain is my personal choice in most of my games.   There really is nothing about him I don't like, so the other romances are ok for my two unattached Fem Shepards.

I'm all for this, but it's not as if men can't write decent romances--  the Alistair plotline in DA:O was written by a man.

I agree.  the Alistair conversations were great.  Actually I found all of the conversations in D/A fun.  I am hoping the ME3 will bring in some of that whether it's your LI or not.  Of course I'm hoping for some great conversations between Kaidan and Ms. Shepard.

As a Male who occasionally plays Females: Thanes all good.

Although on my femshep playthroughs I did find that none of the romance options seemed that exciting/ on equal footing. The one human male was all "the priiize", Garrus is my homeboy when I'm maleshep and I'd hate for some forced awkward romantic dialogue as femshep. Thanes the only option I'd consider out of the ones available. I'm hardly torn.

Zaeed is too badass to be a romantic option though, I like that he's so detached from the touchy feely stuff.

A Mass Effect version of Alistair in the form of a Volus is the best option.

Well I find Jacob's relationship to be the best one to be honest. Yeah, yeah, the prize and all that jazz but hear me out.

It's not an actual "romance" like others where there is always some drama going on and deep character issues. For my female renegade, Jacob was the perfect choice because there isn't any lovey dovey stuff, just two adults, both showing interest and flirting around. Jacob doesn't want anything too serious and renegade Shepard seems like the type of girl that has the same idea.

At the end of the day, they are on their way to a possible one way trip. They don't need any mushy stuff since, lets face it, they are old enough to be over that. Jacob likes Shepard and she likes him, what more would you need?

Now ok, I am a guy so maybe that is a reason why it seems fine, but not every girl wants deep emotional relationships.

:D  I'm working on the Jacob relationship now and I don't have a problem with sex between friends, sometimes it's ummm good.  What I didn't care for was the tone of voice and the feeling that she was pushing him.  But after the first conversation it did get a bit better and I'll see how it goes.

You can never be too old for mushy stuff with someone you love and never get enough hugs.  ;)

And I'm female.

It is simple. They don't care about female players. They think there are only male players who play as female to look at asses. Face it girls: most of the players are teenage males with lots of testosterone:)))
The few real female players have to be satisfied with this options. Ok, you have someone to romance: a totally bland and boring human, an emo, and a turian (!!???!!!) That is why i am a big supporter of joker romance :)))

I don't totally agree, and besides I'm not sure how serious you are.

They are not going to be able to make everyone happy and this female player is one that is satisfied with the options available.  Except  a few of my Fem Shepards wanted to reply to Kaidan's e-mail making plans to meet at the Citadel if the mission goes well.

My point, being, I've never really been happy with Bioware's idea of "attractive personality," but ME2 was their closest yet to delivering.

I really liked Dawn Star.
The other romance options in Jade Empire were rather bizarre, though.

I liked all of the romance options in JE  I just had to keep reminding myself that the Sky who loved my female character and Silk Fox who loved my male character were all in some kind of parallel universe since another Sky and Silk Fox were interested in a same sex relationship.

Okay here's a random thought. Why is it only slime ball men and lesbian/bisexual women/Asari hit on femShep. I guess you could say that Thane hits on femShep by calling her Siha and then not telling her what it means till she commits to a relationship with him. But that depends on your viewpoint.

I dunno, something seems unbalanced there.
