Not to nitpick but some of those things are just rumors. Actually:

1) Any type of thinking causes headaches for him. He can't retain much thought.
2) Kaidan's personality...........well Garrus' pole comes to mind (pardon the ludness).
3) As to Kaidan voluntering for suicide missions, not much going on upstairs and he's decent with a gun, so it makes him perfect for decoy.
4) Ashley only calls him LT to mess with his mind.
5) For disciplinary action Shepard threatens the crew that the punishment will be listeing to Alenko's stories.
