On 2. Definitely. I am sick and tired of the first ten threads on the spoilers forum being Character support, and then half of the others on the front page are support threads too. Plus, half of the responses in the support threads are a variation of good night/morning.

The second page also has about 1/3rd of the threads being character support threads sometimes.

Alternately, the obsessive fans could have the thread in their own group's forums.

*hint hint*

No way. They [hint]need[/hint] it to be public.

Actually, even removing these thread to a separate (less popular) forum will hurt some of them.

I don't care if it's public or not, it's just convenient when it is.

I support the idea of a separate forum (or subforum, as it were).  It would reduce clutter on the more generalized subforums and maybe, just maybe, it'd stop some of the irrational hatred <_<

I support Ecael's idea. Maybe something like dividing the Mass Effect 2 forums into 3:
1. Mass Effect 2 Official Campaign and Storyline Discussion
2. Mass Effect 2 Character Discussion
3. Mass Effect 2 Gameplay and classes Discussion

It will also need to be organized in alphabetical order. If it's not, people will argue over why their thread isn't above another one.

@OP
This thread needs to be posted into and bumped, until either site administrators do something about this or hell freezes over!  Whichever comes first.:D

While I wish I could be optimistic and say "Nah, humanity is better than that."

...

You're probably right :?

Personally I prefer using groups catered to certain characters, but I understand the desire to have public threads as well. I'd support a new forum/subforum for them.

The adblock method is tempting to. But how can you still visit the threads, should you desire to?

You can also always disable it on any site you want and re-enable it later.

I didn't block the link to the character compilation thread at the top, so you can access it there.

Also, you can bookmark your favorite ones if you want.

Yup. That's exactly how it should look like.

Honestly, I'm guessing the only reason the moderators haven't done that yet is that adding a new forum requires more moderators or something. And moderating a character support forum would be difficult. In that case...

I agree that an additional sub-forum would be nice. Failing that the character support threads should really be moved to the "Mass Effect 2 Characters, classes and Builds" sub-forum. That's where they belong.

I know next to nothing about this but I think I understood the 2nd one and I'm for it. But what does this: "A method of Adblocking specific threads that can make the forum feel disorganized" refer to? I tend to think of adblocking as the ability to not view the sometimes overwhelming number of palm in face images. But I'm not sure if that's what this does.

Sorry I have to have my step-daughter come out and help me fix the screen saver.

At the end of the post, I detail a way to block the thread titles from showing up on the forum page using AdBlock and Element Hiding Helper.

I don't think I can't help you with your screen saver though.

The people discussing gameplay and number-crunching over there probably wouldn't appreciate that.

The problem is that people use this sub-forum as a catch-all, instead of actually considering its title. If they did they would have posted the character support threads in the sub-forum that actually has the word "character" in the title.

A subforum for support threads would be pretty neat.

I'm kind of sick of them. The ones that actually talk about the character and mass effect barely gets posts, and the one that does get frequent posts is just a constant flood of "Hi, look at my fanfiction!" and "Goodmorning/night!"

I agree that a separate character support forum is an excellent idea. The front page can get kind of strangled by them at times.

The sub-forum could be called "Mass Effect 2 Fandom" And all fan related stuff, like fan-fic, fan-art ect, could be posted there. Lest the moderators think not enough new threads would get posted there to warrant a new sub-forum.
