Spam.

End of the Line.

This is not a spam thread this is an on topic discussion about the off topic boards and how they close threads that wander off topic. Posted Image

yes...this topic is impossible to be off topic because it's title is Off Topic and is posted in the off topic boards and therefore lockdown free in my opinion.

I think it depends on the nature of derailment. If it's flaming or whatever BioWare deems inappropriate subject matter, excessive picture posting and one off comments, or replies to such, it enters spam territory and earns a lock. That's my take on it anyway. As for threads that are noticed and not, I wouldn't be surprised if not all threads are noticed. I know that I've brought threads to Stanley Woo's attention when they get out of hand and he doesn't always seem to be aware of them in advance. After all, he is a QA guy for BioWare. Moderating isn't his full time job and threads here can balloon fast.

On that note, this thread is already straying into territory that would probably earn it a lock. Just sayin'. :P

I do see your point which is why I keep telling people like Eli to stay on topic but I have a fundamental disagreement with the definition of Off topic.  And seems really wierd telling people to stay on topic in the off topic boards....excluding spam of course.

That'll never happen but you keep derailing this thread about the definition of off topic threads with your inane banter.

So back on topic even though we are in the off topic boards okayPosted Image

My only question to this is if we were to create an off-topic thread devoted to inane banter, would it then be acceptable to chat away about useless stuff since we'd be staying on topic?

I think Woo would lock the topic and say it was spam, unfortunately.

What Chiliztri wrote. Others have tried that before, Wicked, and those threads are always locked.

There have to be rules if the weren't, than what would we have?  I'll tell you what we would have!

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies, rivers and seas boiling, forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

"We are not an IRC channel" that is what you will be told and then it will be locked. Or "this is not a chatroom" something like that.

"No impersonating staff, moderators or other Community members. This also applies to variations of registered names. A person or persons found to impersonate others may be banned from these forums at the discretion of the staff."

Yes, I realize you are kidding around. Nice use of a Ghostbusters quote by the way. However, I felt compelled to warn you that this is a dangerous path.

There is a difference between mockery and impersonation. I don't think I crossed that line, as I never pretended to be nor said I was Stanley Woo..

Hey, I just gave you a warning. Whether or not you want to roll the dice on this is up to you. I just figured you should be informed of the above site rule.

I didn't even notice there was a "Sangry Woo" until you pointed this out. I just saw "Woo" and thought "Woah..."  I need to pay attention more.
