Warning: Spoilers ahead

It seems absolutely everyone is mad at the ME1 LI's, am I the only one who see's where theyre coming from?

Lets look at Ashley and Kaidan. They are loyal Alliance soldiers through and through and suddenly they hear their old love Shepard isnt dead. At first they were more than likely ecstatic about the fact that Shep is alive. Of course, they have no way of contacting a recently resurrected Shepard so they wait around and wait for Shep to contact them. They love Shep, and more than likely though that Shep felt the same way and would contact them asap. As time passed, they start to wonder why they havent heard from Shep. And then they get to the stage where they start to feel mad at Shep for not trying to get a hold of him/her, add this on to the fact that they also heard that Shepard is working with Cerberus. Cerberus people! The same organization that performed horrific experiments on a wide variety of people, society's,on top of that, theyre a known enemy of the Alliance, Council, and right about everyone else. Add all this together to the previously stated facts and they sure oughta be pissed off at Shepard. And once they first encounter him, those emotions comes out. This is understandable, IMO. Once Ashley/Kaidan has had a chance to cool off, they send you that apolegetic email stating hat they cant lose you again.

Whew, lets get on to Liara. If you have read the Redemption comics, you know that Liara went to Hell and back just to get Shepards body back, while I havent read the last issue, I am aware that Feron, her drell contact, lost his life to help Liara get Shep's body. If that doesn't earn her some brownie points with you, then I dont know what will. If Liara never did what she did, SHepard is still dead and the Collectors are never stopped and wham bam all us Humans are gone.(I understand this is purely speculation but come on, if Shep isnt alive, the Collectors are most likely going to succeed). Oh and thats not mentioning what the Reapers would do after the Collectors bring them enough specimens to finish off the human reaper. So, its safe to say that Liara has earned a large amount of brownie points at this point. Lets fast forward to the Liara/Shep reunion. You two share a kiss and she expresses happiness that you are alive. But, big shocker, she wont leave with you. Feron sacrificed his life to help Liara get Shep's body. Liara rightfully so wants to avenge his death. And because of Shep's wondeful timing, he/she shows up just as Liara is at the cusp of finding the Shadow Broker. Liara loves Shep, but she CANT leave to help him/her, not when she's this close to finding someone as powerful/evil/manipulative as the Shadow Broker. She wants to avenge Feron's death, if it wasnt for him, Liara never would have gotten Shep's body back. Am i the only person who understands why she didnt just up and leave everything she was doing?

Of course, these are just my opinions and im not trying to force them on anyone but i'd like your thoughts on this.

Thanks for listening and I apoligize for the wall of text Image IPB

You're probably among the few who don't dislike it. A lot of the ME1 romance people have stopped being mad at the LIs though.

I'm not pissed off at the LIs but I'm pissed off at the writers or whoever decided to give them all ridiculous crappy cameo roles in ME2.

Still if anything, Liara fans got it better then the Kaidan/Ashley fans. Liara plays a bigger part, has two quest and if you want to see her you can. You can't with Ash or Kaidan.

Now i agree with this. I wish we could have gone on a few missions with the ME1 LI's and had more than one encounter, conversation etc. Those missions of course being related to their respective personal goals and stories. Hopefullly this will be released through future expansions and or DLC.

Just saying, Liara got alot of attention, hell she is going to play a huge part in ME3 because of her plot with the SB.

I agree. I liked all of the squadmates from ME1 and ME2, but the way the writers threw some of them aside for one game is irritating.

Only Wrex had a halfway decent reason for not wanting to go with Shepard (and I still wanted him to come along).

Shepard was also a loyal Alliance soldier, through and through. That becomes insignificant when there's a greater threat to humanity and neither the Council or Alliance bother to do anything about it.

The fact that neither Kaidan or Ashley were remotely surprised that Shepard became the first ever human to become resurrected by science made it even more unbelievable. How many people would do anything to bring their loved ones back? And if they did, would they turn their back on them if they had a change of heart?

Shepard gets far more brownie points by uncovering the history of the Protheans and Reapers, which is what Liara spent a hundred years trying to do. Without him, Liara would still be either lost or dead (stuck in that Prothean shield). Shepard also kind of saved the galaxy the first time around (and all Asari in general) by defeating Sovereign.

Liara owes Shepard a lot more than Feron. There's no reason why she shouldn't go with him.

Judging by the code and sound bites already in the game, that SB plot is going to be resolved either in a DLC or expansion to Mass Effect 2.

For your second point, trhe Alliance and the council and almost everyone beleived you where dead. The only prson to make sure was liara and we already know about that.

As for them not being surprised, remember there was alot of rumors that Shepard was still alive and Ash/Kaidan found out by Anderson about the rumor. Also it's been two years and now all of a sudden the person you loved is back alive, but also working for Cerberus. Ash/Kaidan sayong "lets go" would be stupid and would not work. The point is, they will have very big parts in ME3 story.

And by the dialog she becomes the new SB, that sets up something big for ME3 also.

Good points here. I never really thought about thay last point. But considering Bioware made them cameos for ME2 just so they survive  to ME3, I think theyre reasoning was plausible enough considering our old ME1 squaddies. Dont get me wrong I still wanted all of my ME1 squadmates to return as squaddies in ME2 but i think BW did a good enough job.

Most everyone, myself included, was super pissed off the first time they experienced the horizon encounter. However, there's a lot more to the whole situation then what most people initially see.

And that's all Im going to say about that, because I've discussed this so... many... times...

Exactly like Bioware wanted.... Now, Ash/Kaiden/Liara will get even worse roles because of those who cheat and don't turn off the upload stats option.
