Again, I've never said that Ash/Kaidan should just leave whatever they were doing and join the squad. It would be admirable if they did (from the point of view of quite Chaotic person I am=)), but I perfectly understand why they won't, just as I understand why Wrex is not coming. Liara's excuse is much more flimsy, by the way, but at least she doesn't call Shep traitor.
What insults me is their willingness to immediately assume the worst about the person they supposedly knew and respected. It's not like your friends are unfalliable, but I thought it's usual to give them benefit of doubt.

Well, if you think about it they did give you the benefit of the doubt at first.  They were on Horizon because they heard that you had joined Cerberus and wanted to see it for themselves.  They then assumed what they were hearing was true, and since we don't know what rumours TiM was sending out exactly beyond that you were working with Cerberus, so maybe them finding out that you are indeed working for Cerberus lends credence to the rest of the rumour in which it is said that you have been pulling off the heads of kittens and eating asari brains.

Hmm, you might be right about that. Guess I'm just too angry OOC to be objective. The whole Horizon situation is extremely frustrating - both Ask/Kaidan reaction and dialogue options avaliable for Shepard. I don't think it is a good writing to punish the player for something s/he had completely no control over. Being blamed for something beyound one's control is even less fun(
Still, asari brains? Moral implications aside, that can't be good for one's health!=)

I do agree it is damn annoying when you are punished in the game for something the game forced you into doing anyway, and its one thing I dislike when its repeatedly rubbed in the face, for instance being able to tell Morrigan that you should have killed her, and yet the only reason you didn't is because the game didn't let you. :pinched:

Asari brains are a delicacy!  Just ask Mess Sergeant Gardner! :D  When he's not cleaning the latrines of course!

Heh, Morrigain is not that bad, it's her purpose to be annoying=). And it's not like having Morrigan in the party turns out to be mistake...Now, making her the only combat-oriented mage in the party and then turning down her "helpful" offter could lead to troubles at the final battle, but that's beside the point...

A closer example would be Peragus (which will be blown to the Nine Hells no matter what you do, and you will be blamed for it's destruction) in KOTOR 2. Or the infamous silver sword in BG2. But at least in those instances the game did not pretended that you've had a choice, or that the ones accusing you were, in fact, right.
Yet in ME2 we have a qurious situation:
IC - Shepard has a choice wether to work with Cerberus or not
OOC - Player doesn't.
IC - You've made a choice to work with Cerberus!!! Booooo!!!
OOC - Hey! What have I done? There was no possible way to avoid it
IC - Ash/Kaidan thinking "Bad Shepard, bad" can be seen as logical
OOC - I've done nothing to deserve this.

Yep, agree with you totally.  I'm fine with the game forcing me into choices, since it is an unfortunate fact that computer games just cannot give you the total freedom required and especially ones with a strong story, but then they shouldn't have characters rubbing their plot armour in your face or being forced to take one for the team (that you never signed up to).  For instance, the joining in DAO particularly annoys me, I know many people don't like Ser Jorey but when Duncan pulls his dagger out on him my response was to do, well, something.  But no, I'm forced to just watch without even being able to complain or attempt to interrupt. <_<

So true!
And if after that some NPC was angry on PC for not doing anything to prevent Jory's death, then you'd have the situation like on Horizon.:( For me, that's simply mean thing to do to a player.

heh.

i actually liked the horizons encounter: http://social.biowar...index/2192561/1

but only after i played through it a second time and read between the lines...maybe more than was warranted. and LI import is the only way it makes sense. the non-LI encounters are just...weird.
