Am I the only one not pissed at the ME1 LI's?

I jump back and forth in the whole situation. I can understand why they'd be pissed at Shepard for working with Cerberus and I can understand their angry outburst on Horizon happened and I can certainly understand why they'd be mad at Shepard in general for not contacting them. But what I CAN'T understand is why the LI claims to love Shepard and be torn up over their death and NOT join the team, despite the high possibility of Shepard dying again. You'd think Ashley/Kaidan would at least accept the invitation to join after they'd cooled off but naaaaah. They say good luck and offer to hook up if Shepard lives.

But then again, they've had two years to get over Shepard. They really have no obligation to continue a relationship.

I can understand their actions and accept them, but I still feel a little frustrated with the situation both Shepard and the LI were thrown into.

Hmm, by the way, is it possible to officially end the relationship with Ash/Kaidan (have the picture turned down) without romancing anyone else in ME2?

so either

A: you are justifying a woman that after doing THAT much to save the body of her loved one (to be resurrected) then decides that avenging a friend who helped her is more important than reuniting with said loved one OR even be at his side during a mission that might be his very last.  "yeah Shepard I know you may die but Feron reeeeeally helped me and ...well I think it is more important to help him -tho he is likely already dead- than you. But hey if you are still alive after storming the Collectors' base you can help me take down the Shadow broker after which  I can reject you AGAIN in order to take over his business". Sure......

OR

B: you are justifying the writer that thought this was a good idea

I can't help but notice that almost noone is mad about Wrex, even though he is a favourite character of many people and he, also, doesn't join your squad. So, perhaps, *Wrex* is a right way to write cameos while *Ash/Kaidan/Liara* could be done better...

Wrex is:

1) Really happy to see Shepard again, and shows it without immediately backtracking

2) His current position IS important, and pretty awesome.

3) He does not accuse Shepard of being traitor

4) His current characterisation does not contradict his previosly established personality (hello, Liara!)

It seems hardly anyone is happy to see Commander Shepard which is very depressing. Only Wrex and Conrad Verner and maybe a handful of smaller NPC's seem to care.

It's the sad truth of it. He does so much for the galaxy and nobody gives a damn. Hell, half the ME2 crew has all those issues in their life but Shepard never gets any closure with his problems. I'm a big Commander Shepard fan. That guy/gal takes one hell of a beating and still succeeds.

Commander Shepard needs to make better friends...

Other than the Illusive Man, who keeps tabs on her/him?

Liara obviously fell for someone else and is avenging their death. Kaiden/ Ash are still viable relationships and thus those that choose to be loyal could continue this in ME3, but seeing as both Kaiden and Ashley count as a half a character (Vermire) there could most likely not be any developement for them.
But who cares when you get to romance Miranda!Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Dear OP, I completely disagree. Ashley and Kaidan have the right to be angry, but that entire conversation lacked depth. Because at any point my Shep would have physically shook the sense right into their thick skulls. You don't get to be a part of my squad and not know when Shep is serious business. They should know Shep well enough to be more loyal to Shep than the alliance.

Ash/Kaidan cameos were both some of the weakest points in all of bioware storytelling/cinematics/dialogue. Hate to be so hard on the game/devs, but god I hope to never see anything like those cameos repeated in any Bioware game.

I have a feeling a blow up doll would be cheaper to maintain.

Just as mentally and emotionally stimulating as well.

I doubt I could care less about Ashley but Liara?  I think EDI will be infinitely more help to Liara than Nos Astra.  SR-2 can go anywhere in the galaxy and is probably better equipped than her office.  So when Shepard gets there, she gives him a peak on the cheek and then acts like that was a mistake and expect him to not be upset?  That would be extremely naive.  My Shepard can easily get past the whole working with Cerberus thing, obviously.  Yet, being spurned in her own office with the door closed?  She never even sent an extranet message.  At least Ashley/Kaidan sent a message.  So yes, my Shepard has no problem with given Miranda a whirl and inviting Kelly up to the Loft.

I have yet to read the Redemption comics but I will once I get the chance to buy them.  That said, I doubt it will change my Shepard's reaction unless they release a Liara DLC/Expansion

This wouldn't be nearly so frustrating if you weren't forced to work for Cerberus.

Eh, it would still be pretty stupid even if you chose to work for them. Regardless, hate by association in this particular case is cheap. Ashley/Kaidan supposedly knows you. If you're working for Cerberus, they should understand that you are doing it for the right reasons, instead of them thinking that you are helping them feed these missing colonists to Thresher Maws or rogue Rachni bands or whatever else they hate Cerberus for doing.

People are silly in the head sometimes. I agree that it shows how little Ashley and Kaidan really care about you. "We would have followed you through hell, Commander" "Oh really, but now that I am in hell you won't follow me?... I don't follow" In ME3 Ashley will be lucky if I decide to be kind and blow her out an airlock... see how she likes sucking vacuum.

Yeah I remember that sig when Trickfred had it like a month ago. I wondered where it had disappeared to. I should add it to the sig thread but I want the authors permission first :)

Im more mad at the ME2 LIs, for sucking so much when they were touted as basically being superior. *cough*BS*cough*

Im not particularly thrilled with Liara, I think her attitude is in complete polar opposition to what apparantly brought her to her current predicament. She supposedly "couldnt let Shepard go", and so helped revive him. Now that hes back, shes content to "let Shepard go" on a supposed suicide mission without so much as a hint of remorse because shes too busy trying to kill one of the most powerful forces in the galaxy, and save her stupid betrayer friend.

Also I think the line "I was afraid youd hate me", while I imagine is intending to placate players, shows a complete lack of trust on Liaras part if you ask me, especially if you romanced her in ME1. Though I suppose that cant be blamed entirely on her character, as Bioware clearly want to ignore the romance of ME1 as much as possible, and is a neutral line, if not probably flat out written from a non-romanced perspective.

So yeah, Im a little bit pissed, and I hope should they return in ME3 they recognise this and apologise for leaving Shepard to basically take a supposed sucide mission on alone.

Ultimately Im more pissed at Bioware for being so obvious in the "screw that, lets bury it for now and concentrate on other things, like intense, amped up shooter combat".

I don't know why people are so hard on Ashley and Kaidan. I think their anger was justified. I wanted the option to tell them that I agreed with what they were saying and to drop Cerberus and rejoin the Alliance. Unfortunately, I didn't have that option as the game forces you to work for freakin' Cerberus. I'm still unhappy about that :(

I haven't read everything, but a couple of thoughts: Ash/Kaidan jumping on the Normandy after Horizon isn't a small thing to do, it's desertion, even if shep is still a spectre. Also, they don't really know that that is shep. They could actually just be a different person altogether, whether because cerberus brought him back with a control chip in his head among other modifications (which we know miri wanted to do), or because he's the result of some sort of cerberus cloning project or who knows. These sound far fetched but evil science projects is pretty much the only thing cerberus seems to do.
