 I chose all the nice guy options with Jack but said no when she asked if Shep was coming onto her. I've just done another mission and now it seems to think that Shep's been romancing her. When I talk to her the option is 'Let's talk about us', choosing that option results in Jack explaining about her survivor's guilt and then I can only carry on a romance I didn't start or break up, in which case I can't talk to her and get the 'F Off' line.

 I never had this on my previous playthroughs (never had the survivor's guilt dialogue either). I did Jack's loyalty mission earlier than usual this time because I was doing a mixed alignment playthrough and wanted to ensure I could get both Miranda and Jack's loyalty. How do I avoid the game triggering a relationship between Shep and Jack?

As far as I know, the only way to avoid the romance is to pick the neutral option when asked, "are you eyeing me up?"

I just went back to an earlier save and and it seems that you have to say 'No' and then 'Agreed. No Romance'. Saying 'No' and then 'Is there a problem?' continues it for some absurd reason. Would have thought this could be a lot clearer.



Just checked my other characters as well, my first Shep and my pure Renegade both avoided this but my pure Paragon now has the survivor's guilt talk with Jack before going through the Omega 4 Relay. I can go back a couple of hours to avoid it on my current character but not on my Paragon character. Is just avoiding talking to Jack now enough to avoid the romance? I don't really want to talk to her and 'break up' with her as it's so out of character and if she returns in ME3 she might be pissed at my 'good guy'.
