I know the Geth Pulse Rifle is on Haestrom when you pick up Tali, Do I have to play the entire campaign through on Hardcore/insanity to get it, or can I just switch the difficulty when I reach that point in the game?

Next, does someone know what the damage is compared to the other Assualt rifles?   Thank you.

No, just this one mission; the damage is comparable, try it out.

'f you wish to acquire the Geth Pulse Rifle at the end of this mission near Tali's location, be sure to set the difficulty setting to either Hardcore or Insanity BEFORE landing on Haestrom while aboard the Normandy.''

the GPR has the same characteristics as the avenger only less effective against armor but more against shields/barriers

Arguably its the best weapon for adepts, who take assault rifle training on the cruiser. It chews through barriers like a fat kid eats cake. Its insanely efficient with heat sinks too. Typically one heat sink will give 1 1/2 - 2 reloads.

If you are an adept and have Grunt with squad incendiary then it becomes the most effective weapon for Shepard.

I used this for my sentinel on my hardcore playthrough.  I never used another weapon again.  I never once ran out of ammo.  I wasn't even using the ammo pack gear, either.  Max ammo was 480 after the ammo upgrade, and it was my most effective gun by far.  Even with the new submachine gun from the kasumi DLC, I never used anything but the AR.

My sentinel had three levels in armor piercing ammo, heavy overload, heavy warp and Raider.  He was a DPS machine.  I love the Geth Pulse Rifle.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this claim. Try the Vindicator.

I have.... and I do use it from time to time... but only for the asthetic view of it.  The Geth Pulse Rifle looks like your back is crying while the Vindicator looks awesome.  I just find on harder difficulties (Specifically on NG+ Adept playthroughs) the Geth Pulse Rifle works best for me.  It take down barriers and shields and Grunt's squad incendiary helps make up the armor and health drop between the Geth Pulse Rifle and the Vindicator.

^ yeah well, I suppose it's all down to playstyle (given that vindicator has a rather limited ammo supply and it's burst-fire). Still, objectively vindicator does way more damage per second.

Meh .. I always thought the GRP is redundant. Its DPS isn't much better vs. shields than the Shuriken.

The shuriken.

Me, I'll stick to using the SMG vs shields, and pistol/sniper vs. armour.

I agree... and when I'm only fighting enemies with armor then the Vindicator is the thing to use (especially on the Derelict Reaper and Grunt's loyalty mission).  When I fight Collectors I prefer the Geth Pulse Rifle... because Harbinger is an evil-oneliner jerk.  Though "Gift for You" works in my favor now.

That is good and all but on Insanity it can get a little difficult constantly switching weapons... not to mention your our of cover with a sniper rifle but without time slow down (for adepts).

Agreed... switching weapons takes less time than reloading, I think.

No thank you... I'm tired of watching peoples videos.  I figure out to play on my own.  I'm not saying your wrong... or anyone else is either.  I'm saying what works best for me.  I'm glad you like sniping... I don't.  I play NG+ Insanity usually so taking the time to aim with a sniper rifle only means that I am exposing myself to a barrage of bullets and will take way more damage than if was to use an AR.

Just a helpful tip: when you aim with a sniper, it's good to 1) aim at someone who's not moving, and 2) put your crosshair on the target BEFORE aiming down the scope; the scope reticle will stay on the target and you don't have to spend time out of cover finding a target. Combine this with the fact that Mantis does way more damage per shot than a burst from an assault rifle, and you'll find you're doing much more damage / time out of cover.

Heh ... like I said before. Don't put words in my mouth unless you've actually seen how I play.

My infiltrator uses the Shuriken 80% of the time.

"Sniping" is usually somewhat inconvenient to do, unless your foes like staying at range.

Tlazolteotl, you've got a long-ish list of videos each without a specific description, so it's hard to figure out which video represents your playstyle the best or at its best. Could you recommend which one to watch?

Also as I stated... I don't like to snipe.  I'm glad you do... you can pick up a sniper rifle at the disable Collector ship.  Sniping just isn't fun to me.  I'm not saying either of you are wrong.  I'm simply stating how I play.

Uhh, hmm ... I try to mix tactics up depending on the mission, 'cos it's meant to be a *cough* versatile infiltrator.
I took Mordin and Jack to grunt's recruitment, though ... mainly for two lines of Mordin's right at the very end. Image IPB
But the videos turned out quite amusing ..

Yes, I understand completely. I'm not trying to prove your playstyle wrong either. I just thought what I said might make sniping more worthwhile for you. After all, if you're effective with a play style you're more likely to like that play style.

@ Cruc1al

I usually play a medium range adept.

@Tlazolteotl

I tried Infiltrator but the playstyle was too slow for me. I don't like the cloaking.

That's cool, whatever works best for you is obviously what works best for you.
I mean .. how many other people think incinerate is the infiltrator's best power? Image IPB

Infiltrator is not a playstyle. Sniping is.
Like I said, I rarely snipe ... my videos are of entire missions, from beginning to end, conversations included.
Youtube caps video length at 11 minutes, and I have recruitment videos in 3 parts.
I wouldn't say that's slow, would you?

I'm glad you like infiltrator but I don't like the class.  I tried it and stop playing it because I didn't like it.
