Welcome to the Character Show Off, this thread was born from the epic Prettiest Character Thread here.

I felt we needed a thread where all kinds of characters can be shown off, not only the prettiest ones. I would like the freakiest and ugliest to stay in their respective threads tho. This is more of a "Proud-of-Character"-thread


I like constructive critisism and will gladly listen to it. I might not change anything but I like to get hints on how to improve on a particular design. Don't worry about having a completely different view on anything, it's all about different people's opinions.

Say for example I post a guy I find cool, but you don't think so. You might think I need to lower his jaws and make the nose bigger. Then say so! I would consider your points, try them and either revert back to my standard guy or actually use your suggestion and "learn" something new - That other things than your own can be awesome to try too.

And remember. We put down hours of work on most creations, and getting only "That doesn't look to good" as response on a morph we've done isn't too fun. At least try to find something good to comment on. Like "She has STRIKING eyes! I would prefer lowered eyebrows tho" <- See, something constructive but also a compliment!

I like her, She's not the classic pretty, but pretty in a very dangerous sense. I would certainly not wish to get on her bad side! Thanks for starting the thread by the way. Great idea to show off what we're proud of, yet still keep "prettiest" going. Heh almost like a graduation!

Maybe it's due to the hairstyle, but are her eyes 3 clicks too high? I like that her hair is shadowing her eyes, but that's not a good enough reason to make the eyes too high imo.

viruscat: overall, I really like Aaryanna. She's fairly close to how I usually make characters ie serious and dark, in some sense. yeah, a dangerous, viper-like pretty

I do agree that maybe her eyes should be a bit lower. But she's quite pretty! and for the thread, perhaps say this one is supposed to be much more laid back or some such?

She's schoolgirl cute, but I think the mouth is a little narrow.

mlai: he does match Nathaniel pretty well IMO. (http://i40.tinypic.com/oucp3t.jpg) that's one of his rare nice faces tho. You definitely got the "greasy, shady character" look down. Nice job. I'd say bring the tip of the nose up, though.

I hope I don't muck up this thread. I suppose I can say pre-emptively that I'm a praiser by exception: if I don't mention it, its fine, but...*half-hearted shrug*

I've not seen the eye-thing, but I'll tweak her eyes down a bit to see if I find that better. Thanks! I have a huge problem with the standard BW eyes. they're all too high. You think you lower them ALOT, but it may STILL be too high!
About the square jaw... that's my thing, haha.

What were you going for with that char? Do you use the CC or toolset?
Her nose/mouth wideness looks odd. Either the nose looks too wide or her mouth looks too thin... I don't really know. In other angles she's good tho. So maybe it's just that straight-on shot. Most chars doesn't look their best straight on.
Overall she looks like the girl next door. Which, when coming from me, is a pretty good thing ;D

You definitely got the look there. I would prefer to make his hair one click more gray-ish (you know me and white hair ;D). even my bf reacted and said "Oh, he looks sad, but not like he's blaming you for his sadness"
Great work, I'd say!

In DA2 I hope they have a couple of different startingpoints in the Origin. Say for example that they would implement it to DAO, I'm thinking like this:
City Elf Origin. "Choose your character's age"
And then you have like "18-25", "30-50" and "way old" (hehe). If in the lowest agesetting, you start as you do today. As the bride/groom we all know. But, if you want to play an older warden, say 30-50 years old, you'll start the game as a completely different elf. The story will progress like it does today. Wedding, the "party" and so... but if you're not the groom/bride, maybe those that was not taken got killed? And then it's up to you and your brother/friend/no one to save the females.

Oops!  hehe i didn't even notice she was about to castrate that dude.. I purposely made her mouth narrow and little, but i think i may have overdone it a tad

I was going for exactly that, the girl next door who is being forced to do something she doesnt want to do. I only use the CC, i would have no idea where to even dl the toolset let alone use it, so just CC for me. Yeah, i purposely made her mouth small, but i did not notice the wide nose. Thanks!

Glad to help in giving new views on stuff.

About the eyes on my Aaryanna! As you toolset'ers know there's -1 to 1+ in some of the toolset's sliders, with 0 being in the middle, right?
The eyes on my chars always happen to go around -20 to -80 (which lowers the eyes compared to the 0 option) or so. I wouldn't even dream of dragging them to the plus side (HIGHER up than 0 that is)... something is really odd with that slider imho.

But as I saw what you guys meant with Aaryanna's eyes, I lowered them from -35 to -75 (see!?) and here's the result!

Better? :3
I also removed the tattoo that I hadn't really planned on using actually. It was just left there after I tried to copy Aarya. She looks better without it methinks.

Well since this got moved to a new thread, I'm gonna post again saying how awesome that design is.  Fits in perfectly with the family!

As for Nathaniel, well I think so.

She looks very pretty. Even the custom hair thing which i usually can't stand because the textures they use don't meld well with the ones used by default DA... suspect it being dark helps here, the strands are more hidden.

Regarding placement of eyes -- quick rule of thumb that might help, they're generally placed on the imaginary line you'd get by connecting topmost points where the ear meets with the skull.

You're really good with the CC! Too bad I don't like the long hairstyles... they're too stiff and odd for me. Other than that she's adorable! I like how you made the epicly colored tattoo actually work on her face :3 I'm usually more fond of faint tattoos.

Can't stand a couple of custom hairstyles myself. I tend to use them anyway tho since I can't stand the originals either
Dark ones work much better yeah.

About proportion, yeah. I'm an artist and if you ever go to an art class or anything like that, proportions and such are one of the first things you'll get to learn. I've had years of learning and I know most of the little "rules" regarding our proportions

Anyways, the reason i chose that hairstyle is because i've wanted a character with it and she didnt look completely horrible with it, i just wish i would have made her hair dark.. also i just found out how to make those tatooes look actually colored, and soo there ya go!

Ohh and i took some advice and made the mouth a little wider. I also felt like trying a different hairstyle on her and changing her eyes..
what do you think? better or worse than the original Kori??

@VirusCat I replied some at the other thread - but Aaryanna has after the changes you made lost this thing what I thought it were hollow cheeks. After reading the thread I think it was probably the Tattoo which has fooled me.
@mochen I wrote something in the other thread for you, too - I'm really sorry if my comment about Anders has offended you. I tried there to explain it.
Your Elf looks like a hard working man, with a lot of sad experience and a hard life in the past. So you have done a very good job with him.
@Mlaii00 He is definitiv a Howe and one of the bad sort - lowering his brows maybe a bit - but I suppose he is looking Howe-evil-enough
@Pode8 far as I can see her nose is to wide - a bit smaller would fit I think. Dunno but in blond she had a better appearance for me. A lot of potential for her to be a pretty

Okay - @eucatastrophe I can understand you - My very first Char isn't a pretty good looking Char. I had no Idea from Mods or creating a Char. Never done it before -but I love my Neria still to pieces. She is a experienced cool woman in her mid ages - I would say.

Did you change anything else about her besides the eye height and the removal of tattoos?  Looks like her cheeks also got softer.

That profile shot has so much character!  I don't know how you took the shot, but she looks like she's scowlfully glaring.  I think I know how... gotta try it sometime...

I tried... toolset and CC won't support it.  He doesn't look devious enough if you try to lower brow height.  The app interprets that as lowering the brow arch.
