@ Peterhog, the tattoo on the torso is really nice! Is it possible to work on something like this?
Image IPB

Well, are you able to guess my gender? :)

That is an pretty awesome tattoo! I can give it a shot. I might actually have to draw it by hand and scan it because the tattoo is contorted to the shape of the guy's body. This should be fun.

I don't know yet if you are a guy or a girl. Ha ha.

But after you post more designs..I can make a better guess.

@Nowshin

You're a girl. Your girls have that "girly" style.

Amen to this Petehog.

A awesome example for this is *Presence* ( miss him )

His women designs are the most stunning and perfect I have ever seen.

But I am sure he is a man .. and yes I'm sure you are a guy too ;P

Okay, as promised, I've commented on most of the designs I missed. Holy crap, it's a long post...

@ AvatarHunter: Wow, you're right. The lip shape is almost spot on! :)

Kimble - I enjoyed the contrasting mage figures you did. Kimble looks so fresh-faced and innocent. Excellent for the life of a sheltered Circle mage ;)

Baen - Of your contrasting mages, Baen is definitely my favorite. But, then again, I'm all about rugged-looking males :) I think you did an excellent job capturing the haggard appearance a mage constantly on the run would have.

Ruki - You can definitely see the family resemblance between her and Rica. She looks cute in a tomboyish sort of way - a very fitting look for the role of the castless thug.

Gowan - He looks like he could pass for Rica's younger brother :D I like that though he's rugged, he still has a certain cuteness to him as well.

Kaia - Despite her noble armor, Kaia seems like she'd be better fitted in a castless role. Then again, I suppose maybe she's just as shrewd and ruthless as her brothers ;)

Kade - I don't mean this in an insulting way (quite the opposite, in fact), but Kade is very pretty. Despite his forehead wrinkles, he still has a sort of soft look to him. Also, i love his blue eyes and blonde hair (I'm a sucker for men with that particular combination :P )

Torin - He looks like he's up to no good, haha ;) I like how you can make characters that aren't particularly attractive, but aren't ugly either. I think Torin fits into this category. He has some handsome features, but still has some flaws. I think it's great how you can resist the urge to try and make designs "perfect". In the end, it gives them more character and makes them more interesting.

@ Zeleen: Elvirah - Her make-up scheme kind of makes me think of an Orlesian. She also looks rather sinister and maybe a little snarky. She's a beauty, but from the looks of things, I think I wouldn't want to get on her bad side ;)

@ Siradix: Kon - He looks kind. I love his eyes - they're very calm-looking.

@ LadyAly: Neveri - You did a wonderful job capturing Neveri's likeness! Your design is almost as cute as its subject ;)

"Self Portrait" It's a shame that there isn't any curly hair available for DA fems (or males, for that matter). Nevertheless, you did a pretty good job of translating your features into your design. I know I have a helluva hardtime doing any sort of self-portrait. Oh, and I love the top left picture of you smiling.

@ Neveri: Naja - Oh my! And I thought Maeba was a wild beauty! I have to say, Naja is very striking. I think the tattoo and the hair fit her design perfectly :)

Lucas - Wow, he's a perfect blend of handsome and rugged. His eyes shape is amazing, btw! Now, I'm going to be bothering you to pump out more male designs ;)

Lydia - You did an excellent job making her look like her brother. They both share a handsome (or in Lydia's case: beautiful), but haggard look. Excellent work.

Mason - I really like the eyecolor you've chosen on this particular design. All around, I'd say you did a good job with Mason, but I'm not sure how I feel about his top lip being so thin :P

P.S. You are adorable irl :D

@ adneate: You make such pretty elves, Evelin included. I like the fact that she looks cute, but the dark eyeshadow also gives her a bit of a deviousness.

@ Nowshin: Your pirate would probably be a little more rugged if you blended a skintone like "masa" a little heavier. He's an excellent base design, however, so please don't get discouraged! :D

@ megalust: Nuala - You do a wonderful job making "corrupted beauties". I think Nuala fits into this category as well.

@ Petehog: adneate's profile says "male" :P On a different note, you've peeked my interest in your textures. Are you still planning on adding a skin texture to help aid in making "manly" males?

@Petehog Schratty beat me to but yeah I am a guy, though your theory might not be bunk since the Art student I knew back in University was a woman and it was she that helped me in the first place. I think I mainly avoid male characters because I don't like the stereotypical masculine look, it's really overdone in video games so when given the chance I prefer to make a female character since I can pick up any game and play as a big tough Marcus Fenix type guy.

@Schratty Hey thanks for all the comments and no offense taken for Kade, elf males usually can be taken as pretty lol. Looks like you honed in on the essence of my designs which is flaws so to speak. I have always ran across attractive people but honestly everyone has room for improvement varying from different people's point of view and those flaws are what make people memorable to me. Not to mention protagonists always come off as ridiculously handsome or beautiful and that has always been due to the brainwashing of media to me, yeah I'm a non-conformist but don't call me a hipster lol. Anyways though I am comfortable with the middle ground in the looks dept. mostly because I like there to be more to my characters than just a pretty face :)

Well, the key word was "older". Your style has evolved heavily over these months.

Also I did not mean it to be offensive..I know exactly how it feels when people do what you mentioned...I agree with you completely and I respect that. I think categorizing  generally lead to problems...it's just as bad as "comparisons"...because people take pride in the fact that what they do is unique to their own  style. But I suppose it's something I can't  avoid because I've been lurking in these forums for a long time now..and I'm at the point..I can look at a character and know who did it without looking at the name of who made it....

That being said, I was just referring to the style that you implement....as it was a fantastic visual demonstration of the style that I was discussing.

I agree with you on that. It's more interesting when people vary thier designs. Some people just sort of stick to thier own style and it can be a bit boring after some time. Some of the more interesting ones I've seen are when people are open to adapting new styles. As an example..some of Presence's work comes to mind..

Here are the works I have created yesterday night, I quickly post it here before I go to work. I will post comments later.

I have revised Tanar according to everyone's comment. See if he looks better.
Image IPB

Areth, being one of the old blood (i.e. decendant of elven noble), she still stay pround and will never submit. Don't underestimate her from her beautiful while brittle outlook. She can burn you to dust in a merely second.
Image IPB

Talons, she has abandoned her name when she learn of the history of the elves. In her point of view, elves are being defeated so easily because they "allow" it. She joins the "Talons of the people" - an secret organization formed by like-minded elves who want to take revenge on humans and give them what they deserves. She takes a huge effort to learn blood magic in hope of unlock any secrets to defeat human. Going through many hardship and experiement, any last bit of beauty has faded away which she pays no attention. "What's the use of beauty if it can not be used for vengence?"
Image IPB

Verth, elves has endured many hardship once they have been enslaved by Teveinar Imperium and driven out of the Dales. Verth is one of them. She has been kidnapped as sold as slave, if it isn't worst enough, she is sold as sex-slave to a minor human noble. She has been beaten, raped, by the noble himself and guards and whoever which can please the noble. She gives birth to three children, which has been killed by the noble as he claimed they were of "tainted blood", which she can't stand anymore. No longer want to be the play-thing, she burnt her face. As she no longer has the attraction and use for the noble, he ordered guards to abandon her and left for death.

One day, after the dinner, the whole house of that human noble found they were paralyzed. During that period, no one knows what happens except they heard the scream of the noble. The scream was so painful and long which shivered the people in their heart. When the guards could finally moved, they rushed to the noble's room, only to found there were pieces of body everywhere and a half-destoryed head which can barely be identified as the noble. The authority started the investigation but they had no clues for the murderer. Though, throughout the investigation they also found out the cruelity and wrong-doings of that noble. The house was stripped of the title and disbanded because of the crime they have done. However, the event doesn't end yet, the house members and guards were being found, dead, either by apparent accident or killed, one by one. There are rumors that the house is cursed for their sins. Tthe castle is abandoned as well because people believe it is haunted.

Verth managed to survive. She is taken by "Talons of the People" and trained as assassian. She stalked in the darkness and prey on anyone who has wronged her before. What happened to the noble is the revenge she exacted upon him. She also take mission on any folks or noble who state openly against the elves. She believes what she has endured are the wrong-doing of humans. It is better to rid the world of these humans, once and for all. (The background story is inspired by a japanese comic series)

@Petehog..  can't wait to see your new stuff availble

@megalust..  Clare..  nice remake of Una..   Nuala..  a very creative design and yet, hauntingly very pretty..

@AvatarHunter..  Kade..  nice, good looking elf.. he looks kind-hearted, it mus really catch his opponents off guard
Torin..   another nice elf..  and they do look different!  not cookie-cutter..  he looks more shifty than Kade

@Neveri...  so Hell does freeze over...  Lucas..  a serious creation...  I personally love dark hair and blue eyes
Lydia..  a serious lass who carries a big sword..  and I love the composition of her..
Mason..  you go girl!  your first male elf...  really good!

@adneate..    Evelin..  I like her petite features, and dark eyes draw you in... very nice!

@Tyrax..   many thanks!

@Starlight..  TY.. on Elvirah..  she has kept her strength and "robust" health despite the hardships of the Alieanage... tricks her mother taught her (as written in her intro)Image IPB  Your have some very interesting set of characters and bios.. nice creative juices running here!

@Nowshin..  thank you I like Tempest in her new outfit as well,  about Elvirah she was meant to look exactly as you describe... overconfident - no she knows her strengths and is confident of her ability, and bit**chy  in the sense that she will not tolerate cruelty from the humans..  and she remains ever vigilant for the time to strike..   (strange disappearances happen in the Alienage..  among such foolish humans)  Sexy pirate..   hmmm he does look familiarImage IPB

Schratty..  TY on Elvirah.. yep beautiful and deadly for sure..  few who harm her or hers live to tell the tale!

@LadyAly..
soo... as predicted give you the toolset and watch your talent shineImage IPB  your rendering of Mahoney is "marvy"

@Petehog Your character's face looks very detailed, is there a mod you used besides the tattoo and the scar?

@megalust Clare looks good. I wounder how she would look with one of the vibrant eye colors from Pineappletree, like a glowing green or a glowing amber.

@AvatarHunter Torin kind of reminds me of Pol from the Dalish Origin.

@Neveri Lydia looks like she could be an officer for Ferelden military.

@adneate I like how she has a very determined look in her eyes.

@Tyrax Lightning I'll have another go at the dials for him.

@Nowshin Well you don't need to get rid of him completely, I think if this morph became a revision version of Anders it could work. For me it gives a better distinction between Alistair and Anders.

@LadyAly She looks very cue, and looking at her from a lower angle, she also looks like she could be taller than your average DA:O elf. :P

@Schratty Thanks Schratty, I was going for a serene look. :D

@Starlight I feel so sorry for Verth, but by the description you gave, she seems very strong-willed. It might be the lighting in the room, but the tattoo seems to blend too much with his skin and hair. This is just my opinion but what about a dark red color to add some contrast.

@Megalust Nuala is pretty interesting character to say the least, she has a good sullen appearance. It is sort of funny but for some reason your style reminds me of industrial rock and trance music for some reason. I think that is cool that your designs can invoke and image like that.

@Nowshin Oh no worries if he is not exactly what you were looking for he is still a good base to work with. Play around with some of the facial features a bit, I'm sure you can salvage a good design out of him with a little experimenting.

@Neveri Nice, looks like you're on a roll with the male characters now. I like the dark hair and piercing blue eyes, makes characters look mysterious to me. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next, keep it up! :wizard:

@LadyAly You're turning into a regular female Rembrandt with all these portraits you've been occupying yourself with lately, I like it! Awesome work yet again though I also will say you always have good sources to base your portraits off of so I imagine that makes them a lot easier to design in the long run ;)

@Starlight Well I must say those back stories sound really macabre and melancholic but I like the whole sort of elven resistance concept floating about. Talons of the people, sounds very fitting.

@Schratty, I know Mason's lips are a tad thin, at least the upper lip, but with just the normal creation screen to work with, it was a bit hard to get them they way I wanted. The 2 first attempts at him turned out sort of.. ''Ooh look, pretty butterflies and sparkles!''. I shall make more men. Eventually. <.<
@LadyAly, Mahoney is gorgeous, yet another wonderful rendition of someone by you, *thumbs up*  :wizard:

@Starlight, Tanar looks good, although I'm still not sure if I like the white tattoo or not, could you get a shot of him in a different light? Something less orange. Areth is pretty, I like the gold colours. Talons is an interesting character, as is Verth, I like the detailed background stories for them all.

@AvatarHunter, I see now why a lot of people have a tendency to avoid male elvles, they're sort of.. lol. Still have to attempt a dwarf, can't say I look forward to that. Any tips on dwarven making? Randomly, the Claudia Black Morrigan morph at dragonagenexus, is that yours? It looks suspiciously like it.

@Zeleen, oh em gee, a bearded elf! It does look good on him, though. He looks good in general, actually. :3 Thank you for the comments on my last characters. <3

I was in the mood for making a human gal again. I initially wanted to make something lighter, more girly and noble since I've made quite a few dark haired warrior types lately. I sort of failed at that. Well, she is light haired at least. I couldn't decide if i wanted the scar, or the tattoo, so I took both, personally I think it suits her overall character, but then again I love putting lots of stuff in my characters faces given the chance. I think she'll just be a freelance assassin and mercenary when it suits her, taking one day at the time. I'm quite fond of her, actually.

@Zeleen Whaaaaat, an elf with facial hair?! Haha it looks good to me, when applied in the right circumstances it can turn out very well. I like that profile shot of him on the bottom corner, good stuff. :)

@Neveri Oh yeah that is indeed my work, no thievery was involved there. I am PorkchopExpress with the little piglet avatar lol. I tweaked that version a little that I made from before, tried it in game and liked how it meshed with her voice so I decided to post it. Hmm advice on dwarfs . . . Well to me male dwarfs are the easiest and the hardest designs to make. They are easy in a sense because their beards take up about half their face so the job is already half done yet that fact is also a double edged sword because that makes it harder to make them look unique.

With male dwarfs I focus on eye and nose shapes that compliment the beard you choose and your color palette choices. For me certain skin tone and hair color combinations look more aesthetically pleasing depending what beard your dwarf has. So basically I would say focus on the composition of your colors, hair/beard choice(Because some hairstyles really don't fit well with certain beards), and push the eye and nose features to get the expression of your characters personality across because in game or in reality eyes can tell a lot about a person if you look deep enough.

That's how I build my male dwarfs pretty much and it has worked for me so hopefully you can pull something from it. Oh and I like your rough and tumble looking Kerana, calm and fearless. Don't know where you have been digging up all these cool tats either but I like that one
