The difference was that morrigan has a shade of deeper shade of makeup and a lighter shade of skin color, so the eye makeup was easily distinguishable. In fact it was too prominent, so I don't mind that you toned it down a bit, but the smaller difference between your morrigan's skin color and eye color and the way they blend gives me that bruise vibe I guess you're right, I always picture her in a sharp, determined look with dark, sultry makeup so it is a matter of personal taste.

mmh.. I see what you mean. Let me see this evening how it looks with a dark shade and /or the original Tattoo I used ( with a dot line underneath ).
About the constantly annoyed look = hell, her mother decided over her head that she has to go with this damn warden *lol*

I now have a date for the scheduled down-time to take place this week. As per my original news article
all the Nexus sites will be taken offline tomorrow, 17th of August 2010
from around midday GMT while the forums are moved to a new more
powerful server.

The length of the down-time is dependent on many
different factors that can either go really well or really badly and as
such I'm putting a conservative estimate of 8 hours for this work to be
completed. During this time all the Nexus sites will be down and will
redirect to a holding page with more information.

I'd have to get some screenshots. I just picked up DA for my new laptop last weekend, finally upgrading from my 360 version. I haven't figured out what I really want to play just yet, and the one character I have made I might restart. Archery Rogue makes Bitterfoam a sad panda.



I just have a generally bad eye for aesthetics, I think. I know what I like if I stumble across it, but I don't know how to actually get there.

A lot of activity going on as usual I see, well it looks like i'll need to give some of these latest pages the once over. Before I do that though I suppose I will post some things I have been working on. Here is my Charlie's Angels esque trio of ladies I came up with. Even though none of them are related by blood they all regard each other as sisters and are something of mercenaries-for-hire who complete all sorts of odd jobs and requests.

Lucy - Youngest of the three,  has a get the job done attitude, very sympathetic, and is very skillful with a bow. She is a talented ranger as well, highly attuned to nature which makes her intuition on impending danger more reliable.



Saphren - A charismatic, strong-willed apostate who has eluded the templars for years and has managed to function in normal society thanks to her "sisters". She is a Lucrosian at heart who loves to make money and is a sight to behold when using elemental magic because she is known to use flamboyant and pontentially dangerous spells on a whim.



Priscilla - Known by her sisters as Pris, she is free spirited, ill-mannered, and takes joy in the little things in life. She loves to dwell wherever the action is the thickest and the ale is the coldest as she would say. She is also an accomplished duelist who is second to none when armed with her specially crafted twin swords.

Yeah, I agree about Xanethiel's hair. I initially try to find some hair which can cover up all of his face. However, this hairstyle does have some anti-climatic effect. :-P I will see what I can do in the future.

Banel, I'm not sure about the jaw...I try to make an average looking elf, so...may be having flaws is good to him?

It seems like Tayo isn't effective enough to stop the harrowing. If Ghoulia is around, I'm sure she will scare all templars aways :-P

@ Zeleen, Shyal looks...interesting. Though I think her face is a little slim compare to her mouth. Maybe we are having different tastes.

And Orwan will be pleased for your compliment..

@ badboy64, Victoria looks..unique...Maybe she's coming from other planet? Though she is not my cup of tea, she is a successfully made morph. The color of hair and skin match without being at odd with each other.

Maybe it is my taste, I think the chin of Luc is a bit narrow. If I were you, I will widen his chin a bit.

@ Chairon, is she the female Hawk in DA2?

Persy looks good from the side. For the frontal, I think slimming her jaw will be better.



@ Saerwen, that's great you like Delia. Thank you for you opinion about her. However, I have already thought that with this hairstyle her brow is already rather bare (it is more obvious when she turns to the side). I think I will keep her as it is; otherwise, she will looks like having bald problem. I'm not specificly like the hairstyle either. I pick it because it is a rather difficult one to use. I try to make a morph which facial features match the hair.

The revised Isabella looks good! Though I think the tattoo is a bit too dominant. I think lighten the tattoo a bit maybe better.

@ LiquidGrape, Lilith looks cocky! Though we can have a better look of her if there are more screenshots from different angles.

@ Caladhiel, thank you for your comment about Marlek, Dalethra and Lan. Yes. I like the matured version of Lan as well.

And Faye looks much better in this robe. I don't object revealing robe, I just think over-revealing clothing without any purpose is ridiculous. And I don't think that rags is a robe, too. However, it is just my taste. Don't mind me if you like it better.

@ PanosSmirnakos, the Orlesian warden looks good. Though I suggest to move his nose and mouth up a bit.

The main warden looks sexy! Do you have a frontal screenshot of him?

@ KenzeKillah, as Tyrnax stated, narrow the jaw a bit will be better.

@ mochen, Sara is sexy! However, I think pushing her chin a bit inward will be better. How could you make her keep that pose? Apart from random movement I don't know how to make the character to have any pose.

Though I think the scar is a bit dominant, Keenan is sexy:wub:, especially with that shirtless look...I'm melting...

@ adneate, Anya is beautiful!

@ Forlorn, the tatto suit Usha. She looks great!

@ AvatarHunter, for the three sisters I like Saphren and Priscilla. Saphren is astonishing. And the facial features really depicts the ill-manner of Priscilla.

@Starlight: When a char is standing still, move the camera so the direction you are seeing deviates from the direction your character is facing. Unless you rotate too much, your char should bend their head to face the direction of the camera.



@AvatarHunter : Of your three sisters I adore Lucy the most. Just looking at her sends me into massive glomp mode! Her ears are so cute. All three of them are excellent designs, but Saphren and Priscilla's nose/mouth distance seems slightly out of place. Great job with their expressions, Saphren looks so very smug and Priscilla looks like she can't wait to kick us in the face.

Okay, so here goes my Orlesian Mages' Backstory: Scylla, a rebellious mage who was found by the grey wardens while enjoying the beauty of apostatehood. She abhors the chantry and the circle from the bottom of her heart, but it wasn't always so. She had come to the tower when she was five, and ever since then she has been free-spirited and somewhat of a troublemaker, but never a hater of the circle. But things changed when she fell in love with another fellow mage, Leo, who had been accused of dabbling in blood magic (a jowan clone, if you will ). Actually the reason of of his actions was that Scylla was pregnant, and they wanted to escape to prevent the baby being taken by the chantry. Scylla was exceptionally talented at combat magic,but she was too pregnant and Leo was very bad at anything other than healing. So to make sure he could fight off any templars he tried his hand at blood magic. Sadly he was caught and executed by templars. Scylla flew into a rage and killed the templars and escaped on her own, but the extreme stress caused a miscarriage. Because she killed the templars especially involved in Leo's death slowly using a very potent poison from spider venom she was nicknamed "the black widow". After that she traveled alone for a year. When a village she was staying at was attcked by darkspawn she was spotted fighting them off by the grey wardens who eagerly recruited her.



Now the polar inverse of Scylla, Joe, a overly religious female templar who makes Gregoir look very lenient on mages.
She firmly believes magic is a curse that must be contained and it is a templar's sacred duty to make sure all mages are monitored so that they cannot spread the taint of their curse to others. I probably didn't pull of the fanatic look, though. I tried to give her an appearance that is disarming at first, but with a determined expression.

Also gave her some light freckles, which is rare for my chars

Allllright, now for a few comments on some things that caught my attention

@Nowshin  Absolutely love the changes you made to Ephemera, she looks to have gained a very eastern european look and her appearance fits like a glove with regard to position as queen in Awakening. As far as your latest Morrigan morph goes I must say you seemed to have found a good middle ground between aestetics and lore so that the original look of Morrigan is maintained. This isn't DA Nexus but you have my endorsement hah.

@PanosSmirnakos  From looking at some of your designs it looks like you certainly your own personal taste with regards to the proportions and placement of facial features. Nice Arl Eamon interpretation as well, he has something of almost a Clint Eastwood fell just with less squint going on.

@LadyAly Nice job on your Leliana and Morrigan morphs that are both very you in terms of style and presentation. Also from a completely neutral point of view, I honestly don't see anything wrong with your first initial Morrigan as far as the thinned eyebrows go. People usually aren't as welcoming to many changes that are vastly different from an original work but I just see it as a different style and how she looks from your view.

@Mochen Sorry but I don't have much constructive critism for you because to tell you the truth like a few others you are one designer who I feel is confident in their choices and knows what proportions and color schemes work well with their particular style. Also when I comment I like to focus more on what part of someone's style I think really works for them and try to encourage them to focus on that to maintain their own original look because everyone sees things like proportions in a different light. Aside from all that though Sara is lovely and I am quite fond of that shade of hair color you went with. As for Keenan his proportions were well placed and the lips are fine as is. Being a black man myself I'd say my point of view has a bit of validity in this particular case lol.

@Chairon de Celeste something that I like about Hawk and Persey is that you went with darker eye colors on both of them. Many tend to sway more towards pretty blues and greens but I think it is nice to incorporate darker eye colors. I also think Persey's wide nose bridge adds a lot to her appearance.

@Forlorn Nice work on your seductress, the elements you used such as eye color and tattoo look to compliment each other well with regard to the reference you gave of the background of her name.

@Adneate First, I like your avatar a lot lol. Second you are another one of the designers here who I think has a very distinct and recognizable style. I suppose it has something to do with your choice of eye shape or the way you space your facial features. I like the fact that you went with freckles on a ginger haired character along with the green shade of eyes, those to me are a particular group of elements that really go hand in hand.

@Kenzekillah Those are some very dynamic looking shots of your elf, I personally like the nose and eye shape you used for her.

@Schratty Luc definitely has that Ambercromie & Fitch, preppy, d*ckish quality working in his favor lol. The slight smirk along with the subtle arch in his eyebrow really pushes his personality that much more to me.

@Saerwen I don't think you're anywhere near spamming yet but if you feel you need a second opinion on your character go right ahead and re-post them. Looking at your first post I would have suggested tweaking the eyes to some degree but from the looks of your recent post you have dealt with that. The shape of her jawline and face as a whole looks good, I can't see much else i would want to fiddle with.

@Nowshin Oh with regard to Priscilla and/or Saphren mouth to nose placement I did intentionally place them in that manner because that is the look I wanted. I have something of a different take on proportions and placement from others because I focus on realistic flaws that you see in people's faces everyday instead of going for the "perfect" placement appearance. That just looks too uniform to me and doesn't give a lot of distinction if you always go for that same placement or facial feature shapes. So basically I wanted Priscilla to have a short nose to form a bit more of a longer philtrum. Actually thank you for even noticing and mentioning that though, because that just makes my particular style more apparent.

@Chairon de Celeste  Arthanos - well  sometimes the bright shots taking away some depth from a character. He looks quite pale and in the first screen his face is very long and small - what was the intention behind to make him in this way ?
I'm curious - he just don't fit into your style

The first Morrigan was .. to put it lightly - very slatternly. And I felt really no one care's what you post - only saying nice things about. So it was  of a provocation of sort, really.

Joe is interesting, boyish, determined and OH the freckles !!  - I stared at her a while and there is one thing it bothers me - the color of her eyebrows.
They fit into nothing - not the haircolor, nor the lashes, eyes, tattoo or lips -  She is so exquisite - but this brow color is so *alien* on her imo. 

About my Morrigan - I can understand that people are drawn to the original styles very much - especially about Morrigan.
But if I take the advice of Nowshin to dark the the wild Make-Up I gave her it looks like Zorro's mask. I played around with and in the end I decided to stay with the one I posted. I really love her appearance IG and the different take. So I will change nothing. I simple wont a *normal* Morrigan

As for Joe, that was the only shade of Orange dark enough to use....hmm maybe I should try something other than orange.

Cardeth - Cardeth never dreams of being a hero. He lacks the courage and the skills. He enjoys peace more than war. He is content to serve as an little guard of a Bann. However, with the Bann fallen in the battle of Ostager. The land is left unguarded. He is forced to organise the farmers and soliders to defend the land themselves. He finds that being a leader is too much for him. He wishes that once the Blight is over, he will resign and move to a farmland far away to avoid all these "troubles".


Wince - an ordinary miner. He has nothing special other than the exceptional skill to stay alive in Deep Roads.


Nic - He is one of the senior member of Legion of the Dead who still stay alive. The others no longer knows why he was forced to join the Legion. No one but him knows how long he has been in the order. Although the utlimate purpose of the Legion is to die fighting darkspawns to redeem their crime, he still tries to keep as many to stay alive as possible. His wisdom, exceptional fighting skills and sharp-touges has earned respect among the order as well. However, prolong close combat with darkspawns has alreayd tainted him. The corruption is already spread in his body and the signs are clearly seen. He knows his time has come. Now he wish for a glorious death before he turns into a hideous ghoul.


Jimmie - Jimmie is a rare sight within Orzammer. No one knows how he was abandoed into the Deep Roads when he was still a new-born baby. Ordinary, a castless child is always left to dead in Deep Roads, not to mention an outsider baby. On that fateful day, a lady of smith caste leads a group into Deep Roads to search for the remains of her dead son. Maybe the baby remind her of her son. She decided to take care of the baby and treat him as her son. Through prolong debate and certain "pursuation", the lady managed to pursuade the king and Assembly to let her keep the baby. The Shaper even record him into the memories. That how Jimmie lives in Orzammer.

Maybe because of staying underground for a long time, he mystically developes a slight immunity to lyrium. It surpise the dwarves and they thinks he is "blessed by stone". He is now working as a smith to apply lyrium into the armors and weapons. Although he is slighty immune to lyrium, it does have a side effect: his hairline recedes earlier (he is only 20) than ordinary human.


Wraith (inspired by Keenan of mochen) I try to apply the thick lips onto the morph though he doesn't looks as sexy as Keenan. &gt;_&lt;

He is nothing but a wraith. He abandoned his name when his wife and children are brutally killed by Darkspawns. Now he only lives for revenge. He swear that he will kill as many darkspawns as possible until the end of his life.


Emma and Will - They are not related in blood but they are as close as any sister and brother. When their villages are overrun by flood, they are the only sole survivors. Emma, who is only three years older than Will, take care of Will. She regards Will as her brother and protect him whenever she can. They begs, they steals, they fights for survival. Eventually they formed a mercenary band with Emma as leader. Will is really grateful for what Emma has done for him. He loves her as sister and stay loyal to her. He determine himself, he will defend her and stay wil her wherever she goes. That's the same for Emma to Will, too.

Saerwen: The Eyes look better, but something still seems off... Maybe the Jaw's too wide & breaking the Anatomy Symmetry...?

awpdevil: I agree with yasa, but she's still beautiful!

Neveri: I've already looked through all the Hairstyles, & none seem a better match. Some of the alt versions of this one seem too 'pretty boy' for Garian, & others just didn't appeal to me. My current Mods are 'Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors', 'More Hairstyles', 'Tucked Hairs', 'Bidelle's Makeup Studio', & 'CC's Extra Tints & Tones'. Any suggestion for the Hair? Though no guarantees that it'll suit me. (& don't forget, when I put him in-game, i'm gonna give him the same Tattoo Dugon has. I just plain like that Tattoo. It looks Warriorish!)

Well I know I tend to make positive comments but I have my reasons and I certainly try to steer clear of making groundless compliments or showing favortism by overpraising certain people. My thing is I just don't like telling someone how their character should look unless that is what they're looking for. Anyways though nice work on your newest portrait with a very lovely model i might add. With regard to what I said earlier though if you don't mind me saying the bridge of her nose looks a bit longer in comparison and the tip of her nose looks turned up from what I can see in her picture. It is but my point of view of course.



@Nowshin To any Zevran fans please excuse me but he is just plain fugly to me lol. So really you can do no wrong in a remake of him. I am not sure of what his age is but you made him a lot more youthful in appearance which may work well with his playful attitude.
