I changed my canon HNF, Ephemera, a little bit in Awakening. She is queen now, so I gave her slightly softer skin and tweaked the eyebrows a little. Wanted to give her Anora hair ,which is actually symbolic since I have a fanfic going where Ephy is concerned that she's turning into Anora and is manipulating Alistair similar to the way Anora did Cailan.

For you HNF, what base preset did you use to morph the face? Morrigan's base? Cause many people around this thread has a similar facial structure being used and I always hint it was Morrigan's but I am not too sure...

Ok, so I finally got through my mage play through, and as I said before, I wanted to make a 2 handed goddess of death lol.
She is essentially very much the same as my mage was looks wise, but I tweaked the things that were critiqued on my mage.
Things such as the jaw, chin, eyes, etc.. besides doing those changes, I changed her hairstyle/color.






Does she look more womanly?

While talking to a friend about making an evil mage - as it's really the only evil character I care to play, per the origins - he formed his hands into that viewfinder thing people do and aimed at my face. Clearly, he thinks me an evil mage. I don't have any magical powerz, but hey.



























This last image makes me wonder if his chin is too far down. My face is a little more compact in comparison, but I think it might just be a badly angled shot. The few tests I've done in the character creator where I've tried making his face smaller comes out lopsided and poor.

awpdevil: I like the aesthetics, but when I'm looking at the straight-on shot, I can't help but feel as if she looks wooden. Mind you, just my lowly opinion, and I don't mean it as an insult. It's not even the best word for the situation, but I'm having a hard time coming up with it. Wooden as in... carved. Like a wooden doll. If that makes any sense. She looks good, but wooden. Stiff?

Yes wooden is an odd way to describe it lol. ummm. thanks I guess heh. She is basically just like my mage with a more feminine jaw as others would say I guess (heart shaped).

@awpdevil~did you make her in the CC or in the toolset? If she were mine.. I would raise up her eyebrows to frame her eyes a bit,  and then move her eyes down a bit, maybe space her eyes out, squint them a tiny bit and shrink them a little too. Her makeup and coloring is nice and neutral. I like her better than your mage, and your mage did look female, don't be so hard on yourself, you should have seen my blonde mage... zomg.. she looked like someone hit her with a 2X4 in between the eyes!

I found a mod that over writes the standard preset morphs, then worked from there. That' how I did it.



I think since I didn't play much past making her, I am going to make another, there's something that just looks odd about her face from a distance. I think that I may have taken the heart shaped suggestion to much to heart (lawlpun). It just doesn't look quite right. Makes her head look to small compared to her body.

Sigh, making guys are so much easier. Might help that I am one I guess lol. Just slap some beard or stubble on them, and they're pretty much ready to go.

Meet Ilektrah.. she is a member of the Sisterhood.. Ilectrah "walked in" to the alienage instead of choosing the Dalish this time.. she had always considered the plight of the elves living in alienages and decided that she would somehow, some way make it better and bring the history and lore of the "great age of elves" to light..  She made the sacrifice..  no magic..  except her will and her prowess with blades..

ah but how?   How to bring light into all this darkness?

Alright I gave this another shot. Tried a different preset morph then the one I chose for my mage. and went from there. Only thing in common with my mage is the eye color. I'm a sucker for blue eyes.

I like how this one came out. I rethought what I wanted her to be though, I think I will hold off on the 2 handed goddess of death, and try a goddess of daggery death . Was feeling lazy, so I only did one shot. I could be persuaded to take more if someone REALLY wants more. Just make sure your coercion skill is capped.

@StrikeSaber: Not base presets, I and most people in this thread use the toolset. For me, I used some of the Anora slider but NOTHING REMOTELY RELATED TO Morrigan. Morrigan's vanilla face is pretty crappy, IMO. :sick:As for the similar face thing it might be caused by the popular use of shape1 slider in the feature selection tab, but I didn't use it so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

@awpdevil: Actually I quite like your females, not classic beauties but well proportioned:police: The problem is in the eyes and lips. You need to give her some squint ASAP to get rid of the wooden wide eyed look, and depending on what her personality is supposed to be, curve the lips slightly  upward or downward. You could also tweak her eyebrows a little if you want.

You caught me off guard them . That face always reminded me of a Morrigan. However, I was wrong. In that case I will consider trying out the Anora base morphs in the Toolset then. I always worked within the parameters in the Toolset with the face preset that I imported in from the CC, but i never realized that using some of the other NPC parameters would get that result! Also, I don't mean to offend you regarding to similar faces. I guess my untrained eye can't distinguish the many faces very clearly!  However, thanks for the tip on using NPC sliders.

@AvatarHunter Kazuma and Taki are really cool they fit the part, and look really exotic. I'm very impressed with your results because the morph system fights you on characters like Kazuma.

@awpdevil One thing I notice about your work is that you might not be choosing the best colour combinations or the right levels. As a general rule you don't want to pick colours that are unatural and uncommon or use values over a certain threshold. For eye make-up don't go above 0.60 on the slider and use colours that are more common before trying something really strange, blues, blacks and purples are very universal and should work well with most colour combinations. Lip make-up is a bit more difficult, low values can create various effects and neutral outcomes like very low values of purple for example can create a light glossy look ever without the aid of extra textures. As for the blush, BioWare really screwed up on it this time around it doesn't look very good so keep the slider values about 0.25 or lower and very light in colour pinks and reds mostly.

Other than I would say focus your attention on the eye area of the face, it's very important to have it convey the type of character your're trying to make. Squint and eyebrow sliders should help you better shape your eye and arch the brows and change their level on the face.

My internet connection crapped out on me today so I was left with nothing but the toolset to pass a bit of time with, I created a new male design. I suppose he's a City Elf rogue, at least that's what I think would look best.

I love this thread, and I am glad that everyone is always posting some exciting characters. There have been some pretty exotic creations lately!

Some of my favorites:

Neveri - I love your designs a lot. I really like Magnhild. She is a great balance between pretty and deadly. Her features are nice and your choice of hair, makeup and tattoos help to create a sinister yet sophisticated appearance. I love the armor she is wearingas well. I also like Lanaia. She is very pretty but also looks very real. I like the toughness added by the scar, but how it also does not make her look any less pretty. Morriana is also a very pretty yet slightly sinister design. She would make a great stand-in for Leliana any day. My favorite of your recent designs must be Fahari! She looks so exotic, almost like a voodoo priestess.

Caladhiel - I like Rhoslyn a lot. Her makeup and tattoos have just the right shade to match her nice skin tones. All of her colors seem to work very well together. She is exotic without being over the top which is nice.

Eudaemonium - I really like your designs and liked what you did with Neria Surana. The facial tattoo she has looks very warlike and if I saw her on the battlefield I would certainly run in the other direction! I also really like her staff and robe. Where do those come from?

yasuraka.hakkyou - You have made some epic characters! I especially love Yvaine! She looks very imposing.

Chairon de Celeste  - I really like your style and how it shows through on all of your characters. My favorite of your designs has to be Mythalle. I really like her eyes. I also like Elaine. I can tell you have a thing for redheads! I do as well...

Saerwen - I really like your recent Isabella incarnation. She has a strong arcane warrior feel to her. I rarely use massive armor, but I really like the black Grey Warden armor you put on her. I also like Morwen. Of course, how could I say no to a Dalish bloodmage?

Forlorn - I really love elves and Usha is very pretty. I love those glowing red eyes peering through her hair and dark eyeshadow. I do not often use hair that long or that much in the face, but it looks really good on her.

adneate - Really like Anya. She is very pretty and everything the default Morrigan should be like. She looks great in that black leather armor.

Nowhin - Love Joe, your templar. She is very pretty but also looks like serious business! I love her red hair.

LadyAly - Love your rendition of Zeleen. Very pretty, especially in the white battle armor. I love the colors you used. I struggle to make good looking blondes in this game. I love Cisseia! She is so beautiful, exotic and original! I hope to see more of these tattooed Dryad Nymphs!

badboy64 - I love your character style as well. I really like what you did with Mystique and everything you did with the green women.

Mochen - I love almost all of your designs and your overall style. Jack looks like a serial killer! I also love your newest incarnation of pinkish bubbles. She looks great as a desire demon. Her hairstyle looke totally naughty as well.

Starlight - I love your male desire demon concept for Savra! He must be one of the most exotic male character designs I have seen! What is that hall he is standing in?

I will try to add some more comments if I have time later.

She is an elven blood mage. She is always looking to improve upon her bloodmagic and takes great pride and great pleasure in cutting herself to fuel her spells. For some of her more potent spells she has sliced her face in a ritualistic manner to provide great energy as well as to create a frightening appearance to her enemies.

Thankfully I found a temporary solution to my mouse problem.....so here goes...GARRET HAWKE!!! :devil:

I know, Most of you are thinking "OMG SHE KILLED HIS BEARD!" But I did it only because there is no beard in Origins that can live up to his beard's awesomeness, and using a beard resets all jaw modifications. So I tried using the darkest possible stubble to make up for that, and I am glad that his square chin is noticeable. Need to use rougher skin texture though, will post more rugged looking pics later. I wanted to use bushy eyebrows, but they FAIL at making glares. Anyone have any advice on this?






Come to think of it, he looks a bit like Mochen's Esau.

Are these options you guys mention in this toolset you refer to? I don't remember seeing anything to do with squinting or lip adjustments on the character creation screen. Just stuff like eye size, spacing, brow height, mouth width, height, etc...

@ awpdevil: Some of them like mouth corner up/down, square jaw are toolset only options. The others like the thickness of lips, wideness of chin or jaw are also available to Character Creator.

I originally posted this in the prettiest character contest thread, thinking that is where this kind of post belongs.
But I realized that I'm not really showing how "pretty" my character's are, more just having the fun of "showing off" the character's I have created.
I didn't notice this thread before I posted in the other one, so I apologize for a "kind of" repost. But I guess there are different people following each thread, so I guess this just increases my characters exposure. 

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my little creations as much as I have enjoyed yours.

Man, there is some TOUGH competition in here. Just gonna start off by commending you guys on some great work.
In any case, I thought I'd show off a few characters of my own.
One of them I just created a couple of days ago.
One is a character I have been playing on and off, but somehow never managed to finish the game with.
And the final one, I just finished the game with yesterday. (the handsome chap whose picture is in use as my forum avatar )

The first one is Silver. I created her as a sort of "evil" character, but not a villain... she looks out for number one and is fascinated by power and has a tendency to be a bit arrogant. But she does have a soft side to her, and will mostly do what is considered "good" though many would not agree with her methods.







Next up is Garret (no he's not named after Hawke... his creation predates that announcement)
He was created as a sort of "dashing rogue" character. He's a wisecracking cynic which results in a lot of people not liking him very much. He does not take himself very seriously except when it comes to combat. Losing is not an option to him. He will come at you with two broken arms and four fractured ribs and still not miss the opportunity to make fun of your pants.





And last but not least, there is Ivar (named after myself!)
This character was made for a "what would I do" play through. He protects his companions at all costs and has a profound respect for the people who are willing to shed blood (their enemies and their own) beside him. He also has a fascination with anything that challenges him and that which he doesn't completely understand. As a result he was immediately drawn to Morrigan.
He is a realist, and does not hold the chantry or the maker in high regard. He refuses to believe in destiny, the maker or anything that would make his actions seem not his own.

@Ibaru88: Welcome to the thread! I see you debuted with some excellent designs Silver is pretty, though I'm not personally a fan of that eye texture. She doesn't look arrogant or evil, which I guess makes her more dangerous? And lol Garret (see my post above), he seems very serious, and in the last pic somewhat looks like Anders from Awakening.And I like Ivar the most, he looks sexy and determined <3There isn't much to say about your char proportions and such, you seem to have a good grip on that, though silver could use a bit more color co-ordination. Anyway very nice work!

Thank you for the warm welcome, AND the constructive criticism.

I did at a point get stuck in a rut where all of my characters seemed to look a bit "same-y".

So I have been trying to divert a bit away from my previous designs. The color co-ordination may be a result of that, but I'm not sure. I sadly haven't had the opportunity to use the tool set, since my system is currently running on windows XP SP2, and I need SP3 to run it. Though I am sure that once I do upgrade my OS, I will be able to use the tool set and get more control over the design of my characters.
