The thicker brows definitely look better. And he definitely resembles Hawke.

Ibaru: Freaky mage. Garret and Ivar look cool.

@LadyAly This may be sort of but since I have been trying to assess everyone's creations in entirely the first thing I noticed about your design is the pic location. That area played in well with the back story since he is a hired blade I would imagine he would always be moving from place to place. Appearance wise I think you captured a good tone of apathy and an aloof like quality. Nice work with your texturing as well.

@Neveri Lol Morriana, very clever Image IPB This is a nice blend of the two because both of their respective features can be seen yet do not conflict. I get that initial Orlesian espionage feel of Leliana but also the sophisticated and sarcastic presence of Morrigan. Well played! Side note, yes I do agree that the bottom portion of Taki's robe is funny looking. I would have been happy with a skirt or some pants or something instead of her bum hanging out like that lol.

@Starlight Points to you for thinking outside the box on this latest character, indeed we have not seen any male desire demons or really even the idea of one for that. His color choices are rather flamboyant but considering what he is those choices could pass to some degree. I also have taken notice that you tend to make your dwarfs with more refined noses instead of the usual bulbous and wide shapes which I have come to find as something different in your view of dwarfs.

@Bitterfoam The jawline of your character looks fine but if I had to suggest anything it would probably be the amount of gaunt he has which seems to make his cheekbones protrude some. Then again if this is based off your own appearance I can only comment to a certain extent since you know how you look and I don't.

@Zeleen Ilekrah is certainly very nostalgic looking that is for sure. She harbor a bit of similarity to Tempest yes but you can obviously see that their values and proportions are different. I think it is just the color choices that give any real similar fell from the two. I like her inverted triangular face shape though and I personally like that eye makeup, it just looks nice to me.

@Awpdevil I will definitely throw my vote in for your second attempt at your daggery goddess of death. Compared to the first one she still carries some of the look you initially wanted but doesn't look so similar to your mage now and is more their own character.

@Adneate Thanks for the comment and yes the toolset can be quite difficult when attempting certain feature shapes. I really like experimenting with different ethnicities within my designs because they all their own distinct proportions so I have worked alot at manipulating certain sliders to get the look I want. Something that I have noticed about your designs also is that face shape wise you seem to leave little room for error, imo you tend to get the overall look molded well. That being said I like the square shaped jawline, that always helps elf males look more masculine to me.

@Megalust It is nice to see some more of your elf designs posted, they have a very recognizable appearance. Good choice on the size of Sorcha's features, since you did not go with a small and dainty look since she is an elf it made her overall look stronger and have more presence to it. Nice touch with your signature like scars as well.

@Nowshin First I would just like to say that it is nice to see someone so pleased with something they have created, that in itself makes me more fond of your design. He also does indeed share a fair amount of resemblance to DA 2's Hawke. If nothing else it is a well crafted character and I think your zealous attitude towards him is very appropriate lol. Image IPB

@Tyrax My apologies sir but I cannot comply. Since the creator of that armor didn't really leave anything to the imagination I think I will by not posting a full body shot lol. If you are really that curious though just think of a thong that is three sizes too small hah.

@Saerwen The tattoos are a part of the robe in this mod.

Alright I gave this another shot. Tried a different preset morph then the one I chose for my mage. and went from there. Only thing in common with my mage is the eye color. I'm a sucker for blue eyes.

I like how this one came out. I rethought what I wanted her to be though, I think I will hold off on the 2 handed goddess of death, and try a goddess of daggery death :D. Was feeling lazy, so I only did one shot. I could be persuaded to take more if someone REALLY wants more. Just make sure your coercion skill is capped.

She looks much better now. The color combo of her eyes and hair is pretty striking. The eyes might use a little bit of a squint (there's a squinty eye shape in the character creator - I'm thinking what you have there is eye shape #3, so eye shape #2 would be the squinting one), but I'm a fan of the design of these normal eyes myself. I like the shape of them.

AvatarHunter: Thanks again for the feedback. The Cheek Shallow/Full slider is at about halfway for that character. Going toward the Full side of the spectrum started making him look like a bloated corpse, so I stayed away from that. Now he just looks like a gaunt, walking corpse, right? =D

Here's the Cousland male I'm trying out now. I want him looking young and inexperienced, overall, so I went with the youngest preset in the CC - #2, because all the others look way too old even with the lowest skin complexion. I tried going off pictures of Bryce and Fergus, and I think there's some resemblance, but the nose will never be as theirs. The nose shapes for that preset are awful, and I failed miserably at making them look even half-decent.

I redesigned one of my characters, Garret.
I finally managed to get my toolset working properly, so it gave me some better options to make him more resemble the vision I have of him in my head.
I'm not sure about the facial hair, but he definitely looks more "rogue"-like.

Tell me your thoughts! :P

The facial hair contributes to the rogue-like appearance. The moustache-soul patch combo always makes characters look like more of a rogue. The combo also usually makes the character look older, too. What age are you going for, or does it not matter?

I was going for late 30's to early 40's... he's a duelist and on his way to becoming a bard. So I imagine him as quite the swashbuckler.

@Nowshin, I'll trade you one Morriana for the nero hair? XD
Just kidding. :P I can send you her files if you want, 'tis no problem. :) I really, really love your Garret Hawke, he looks awesomly handsome!  <3:wub:

@Starlight, thank you. :) Hm, Schratty has already made something like that, the elven Alistair and human Zevran, but I could give it a go, not all that steady on male morphs though. I really like Mia, she's got a cute and determined look about her, and nice use of colours.

@awpdevil, your human female is cute, I like the shape of her face and her mouth.

@Zeleen, I really like Ilektrah, I think that golden tattoo works very well on her, and she looks lovely.

@adneate, your City Elf rogue looks great, the scar is a nice touch and gives him a slightly more hard look.

@megalust, thank you for the compliments. :) I have to say I really like the look of Sorcha, the scar fits her perfectly, and the black and red colours is perfect, and nice choice of outfits.

@Ibaru88, Silver looks mysterious and pretty, at least from what you can see of her face. Garret is actually quite handsome, he's working that mustache well, gives him a sly look. I think Ivar is my favourite though, he's good looking, and I'm a sucker for dark haired men.

@Bitterfoam, your Cousland looks very young, although I'd try to make the nose ridge wider and his lips thinner, at least his lower lip. If you want to have him resemble his brother and dad, you might want to check out a mod called ''All in the Family'' on dragonnexus. Also, VirusCats preset replacement mod is excellent.  You're just using the in-game character creation screen, aren't you?

I am using just the in-game character creator, yes. I fully intend these characters to be used in play, per their origins, so I don't want/need to go into the toolset, even if it frees up more options. I want my characters to look good, but I'm okay with being limited by the CC.

I'll check out the two mods you mentioned. Will they cause any conflictions with Bidelle's Makeup Studio, Pineapple Tree's colors, and what not?

@Neveri: Let's trade! :wizard: I'm eager to pimp out my Hawke to my friends since I can't upload him to nexus with that hair (the author took the hair mod down and I don't think I'm allowed to upload the hair file along with the preset). And love the Morriana so much!<3 I'll PM you my email address.

@Avatarhunter: I'm particularly pleased with him because I wanted to broaden my horizons and create more manly looking characters, and who better than th epic beard-wielding Hawke?

@Bitterfoam, you can make some great looking characters with the in-game character creation, just takes some practice and patience. I don't think they'll conflict with those mods, but they will override the normal presets. There is also another mod, pretty faces for male and females. I've never liked it all that much as I think they all look the same, but some of them have some nice base features you can tweak quite a lot.
Up until a few days ago I was stuck with only using the in-game creator, if you look at my album called Various Characters, all of those are made with the in-game creation creator, and of course a bunch of great mods.

Christ... I unleashed some kind of demon when I got that toolset working. I can't seem to stop now! >.<
Anyway, I'm currently working on an male city elf now, that I want to make into an archer character, seeing as how I have never played an archer in DA... but there's a problem... no matter how I try he always ends up looking super generic, and if I try to deviate from that and make him look unique, he ends up looking like a twit...

so... I guess what I'm trying to say here is...

Help!! :crying:

Looking now. I know great looking characters can be made with the in-game CC. I'm just still in the process of learning to not make misshapen lumps.  :D

Regarding the male Cousland: I can't make his lower lip any smaller without basically making the upper lip about as wide as a line. That preset just has a really big lower lip. So the lower lip is a problem, and the nose is a slight problem. But all the other presets look too old and weathered.

Is replacing all the normal presets with the mod you mentioned worth it?

definitely, the vanilla presets suck so bad you can't go wrong. And if you want them back you can just remove the mop files from your override folder after you're done making your char ;)

Yes, definitely worth it. You can pick and chose the ones you want to use, though. So if you don't want to replace all of them, just find the ones you like and replace them with the ones that are just plain ugly and horrid. VirusCat's mod is excellent, really.

Also if you really don't want to replace the vanilla ones, you can always look up the preset mods that make the presets additions rather than replacers. Like the Chargen package, or my APP (shameless self pimping :D)

I tried making a little Cousland "pup" myself... man, it is hard trying to get a resemblance to Bryce and Fergus without it looking exactly like the guys.

I decided to try to make him after seeing these other recent posts... and yes, it is quite hard to get the appearance of youth and innocence in this game...

anyway... here's "Pup" Cousland (work in progress)

Ibaru88: Regarding your "Pup", I would suggest moving his eyes .05 (or so) closer together. His nose looks pretty good from the front view (though I would recommend narrowing his nostrils just a tad: .03 or so). Finally, his mouth looks like it's too far down from his nose; try moving it up .10 or so (this might also require you moving his chin/jaw up as well). Hope this was helpful :)

You stole my hair and stubble. *Shakes fist!* The nose has that bump in the bridge from the side-view. You might be able to reduce it by lowering bridge depth, but it depends on the nose shape. Unless it's how you want it.

I downloaded Viruscat's presets, as recommended. Here's the result. The preset changed my options for stubble, as I can no longer get it for a goatee. Still, doesn't look too bad. I changed the hair, too, since this option better resembles the possibility of growing out like Bryce and Fergus. Too bad it's the Alistair-hair. I like it, but it makes them look a little more similar. Still, I don't want long hair on the character. The preset also made the nose shapes not suck as much, so I think I got a nose that better resembles the Cousland nose. (I did not install the All in the Family mod.)

Just a short thank you all for the kind comments on Rufus.
I think I need maybe a break - or I'm simple and just right now burned out from work.
So don't forgive me all if I don't comment on any design.

I included the bump in the nose because Bryce has it :P
And yes... sorry about the slight hair and facial hair theft... just thought it looked good.

Anyway, your new version looks good, though not as young as he did before... from what I've seen of the Cousland noses, they seem to be pretty thing around the tip and bridge and then have some pretty wide nasal... things? ...
oh... and a bump... at least Bryce has a bump... don't know about Fergus...

I will take some time a little later to go over all of the wonderfull new characters and post up some comments. you have all been so busy!!!  But first our favorite, or not so favorite chantry mouse.

I revamped Alistair long ago, and I am very well aware that there are many Alistair purists out there, so if you are one of them, just pretend he is a PC! I wanted him to look more rugged, a guy who has been out in the field killing darkspawn. I also wanted him to be more my vision, so this was developed not for lore or necesarily w/aesthetics in mind.  Please let me know what you think, if his anatomy is skewed etc.

Ok this last one is just for fun, and it is an old revision, check out his nose!!!

I made *some* changes... think I might have gone a bit overboard... doesn't really look much like he used to.
Anyway... took some of the advice that was mentioned, also changed his hair.
