@mochen

That Jowan design has about 0.20 to 0.32 on "Shape Alistair". He has the same eyebrows, nose and mouth as Alistair. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right. I'm a toolset junkie.

Inspired by Forlorn's Tevinter Mage, Nephalia.

still might be kinda rough, but it's a good start. going for a sinister look, obviously. crimson dragon tat, 'cause if I remember lore correctly, the Tevinter peeps worshipped the old gods. and she's pissed about being taken away from her homeland.

@dwarfCat Weee - the doggy is great !! I love him. I bet the war tattoos looking awesome on him

@mochen HEHE - Jowan is looking like the whiny ass he is. Thumbs up - but I have to agree with Petehog - as I saw him this morning - he reminded me a bit on Alistair - especially the mouth.

@y.h. Good first try - maybe her face is a bit too long. - or it is the hairstyle. If you want give her a sinsiter appearance - for me she is smiling, looking rather friendly and sweet. Dunno how to change this. But she has a lot of potential - keep on working on her. I'm curious about the result.

@ YH - She's looking good! I kind of like the smile..it's a bit like an evil grin, but not enough so she is still pretty.
Thank you all for your kind comments on Jowan :)

LadyAly and Petehog, very good spot! there is some Alistair in him 0.36 to be precise. I was going for the whiny look, and figured Alistair was a good place to start! hehe.

Here's the proof, Petehog wins a chocolate cookie :D

I realized that Alistair's face bothers me even more than I thought. So I gave him a complete makeover :D My bf who, which I feel like I'm saying all the time, loves the whole VA-thing and doesn't have any connections to the game thinks that his face and voice fit together perfectly. And of course I love it too.

I don't think Alistair needs to look like Alistair to make his dialogues work. He just has to have the same kind of expression for it not to be awkward. He doesn't have to look like Cailan either, since they don't have the same mother.

So, here is my Alistair, and yes he is Alistair and it works perfectly in my game ^^

Why would you want to replace Alistair with... that person...?

But I guess it's an interesting experiment in its own way... :P

@ Yasuraka:

That hairstyle on that "evil" female mage... looks drawn on. Is that a mod hair or Bioware hair?

@Mlai00 Unless I'm mistaken, that's actually Flemeth's hair style (but with a different hair colour).

@yasuraka.hakkyou Hmm...if you want to try for a more pissed off look, you can try tweaking the eyes (eye shape and/or squint?) and eyebrows a bit for a more sinister appearance. Barring that, you could try lowering the corners of the mouth but if you can pull off a malicious grin, that would be even better. It's a bit unfortunate that the hair style partially-obscures the scar though as I find the scar helps make that particular face rather interesting.

@VirusCat While it wouldn't be my idea of Alistair, it's all good so long as it works for you (the same goes for everybody who has tweaked a version of Loghain or another character for their game, or Branka, or whoever). To me, that's a decidedly more serious grey warden look but as I said, whatever works.

I'll show some other pic where he isn't looking as serious :) That's where he's mad a Loghain and where he thinks the PC is dead. He looks a little less firm when neutral, and utterly adorable when he jokes and such :D

The hairstyle is from the Tucked mod I think.

haha, yeah. quite the interesting alistair morph :)

yeah, that hair is from the tucked hair mod. I'm pretty sure that squint is maxed (or near it), but I want to more or less keep that eye shape. change up the brows, and hair? 'k, will check out these changes in a little while.

mochen: no problem :)

It's just my taste in men. That + beards... rawr. Alistair is a bit too babyfaced for me... I think. Well, sort of ^^

My Dog mod will take a while. Seems to be extremely hard to get all the different warpaints quickly (like, putting them in the inventory or at one specific merchant) so I'll just play 'til I get them the normal way.

Hmm...that design would work better for like a tougher character..not for Alistair. He definitely has a home in the "Tough character" forum. There are some dialogue situations where a tough appearance makes the conversation awkward. In the past, my Alistair designs were criticized for looking too "cold" or "tough". I never understood at first until I bgan to see various cutscenes and dialogue and I realized that Alistair has to look a certain way. He's not exactly a pushover, but he's not exactly a man. He's a full grown man..a lion... with the heart of a child.

@Virus Cat This design is a wonderful done , a handsome guy indeed. I bet if he is used from the beginning it should work out.

But also I have to agree what Petehog wrote ...

To say Alistair is lion, or full grown man, with the heart of a child is exactly his personality and the best describe you can find for Alistair.

With this in mind your handsome tough guy isn't working ...

So you have to keep free from lore and such - and I bet he is wonderful XD

Is anyone else noticing this.....but does it seem dang near impossible to design an Asian woman on either the CC or the toolset. I've been working on a Hyori (in her 20's..she's past 30 now) design and the toolset is just so limited.

Thing is, he isn't tough. I don't know if you guys make some kind of connection between shaved head and toughness. My bf is going bald at a really early age. Something he isn't really proud of showing off, obviously. So he shaves his head to make it less visible. He's the nicest man alive or so, and I can't see the "tough guy" you see in my Alistair. As said, the screenshots are taken as you wake up in Flemeth's Hut and Alistair is grieving, he's furious at Loghain, he's worried the PC didn't survive... and this shows.

I will, as said, post a coupe of pics that shows his cute side, and you might get another opinion about the whole "tough guy" thing. I like to think of him like a kitten that uses a lion costume to not show how fragile he can be. Therefore not a whiny ugly face like the original ;)

The thing with Alistair..and I learned this the hard way..he can never be a "universal design".

In design, there are characters that you can tweak that are "universal"..that is everybody will unanimously agree that the new design is better than the original. And then there are designs that everyone will disagree on.

Alistair is one of those designs that you make to make yourself happy but he is not a "universal design". In other words, there would never be a way I could make a redesign of him and make everyone happy. It's because the original was very well done. If you look at every single Alistair morph made in history..they have all failed. And the reason they have failed is because by making Alistair more handsome, or rugged, you shave off that personality which is Alistair.

I learned this lesson the hard way. My final design of Alistair before I threw in the towel was essentially a slightly more younger and attractive version of him. This time I even went through to keep his eyes the same to keep his personality. But then I realized that even with these changes, the original still wins. It's because the "flaws" in his character give him character. It's all about familiarity. If you've known a friend for months, you begin to overlook certain things about the way he/she looks. But if he/she one day walks in and looks like Brad Pitt or Kristin Kreuk, they aren't the same person anymore.

@ VirusCat - Aww he is a good design, with your trademark lowered nose! But as you know, I am a bit an Alistair purist, so obviously he's not for me. The best thing about redesigned NPC's is seeing everyone's personal vision for how they want the game to be. Perhaps Petehog's designs are an exception though as his mod has to cater for the masses.

I'm actually redesigning Wynne right now. I'm sort of basing the general idea on Petehog's Wynne. I've been using that one for ages, and I love it, but there's always been some aspects that I wanted to change.
So this is my first attempt. I'm not convinced by the design right now, so would appreciate any comments on how I could improve it.

Oh- don't get me wrong VirusCat. Not with the slightest idea I ment his baldness.. it was the face what let me think he is a togh guy - handsome, nice hearted but tough
I'm curious about the screenies :)

@mochen  This Wynne looks as perfectly as the most of your Characters are.

@Petehog I'm not sure but I think my Sazuka is a good asian style - made only with the CC

I don't plan to release my NPCs. I had a small plan about doing that but I use so many mods in my designs that they just wouldn't be anywhere close without them. I can't take the cred for them since they wouldn't be nearly the same without the skintones from Pineapple or the eyes from Petehog and... (I can go on and on).
Therefore I felt like I could make an over-the-top design for Alistair... since he's only for me in the end ;)

Loving the Wynne, mochen! Definitely the best I've seen O: Sorry Pete! I use the lore one from Redesigned and she's awesome too.
I will redesign her for myself when I'm done with what I'm doing now ^^

Yeah Sazuka is really pretty, and very asian <3
