After taking a break and giving KotOR 2 another shot (and yes, it was good to hear Atton's voice again^^) I recently decided to take up DA:O again. Anyway, I decided to play a City elf, and I thought to myself: what must it REALLY feel like, being an adolescent half-orphan, living in a decrepit Alienage at the mercy of the humans, having absolutely no perspective at all, having to marry someone who is chosen for you... well, it would feel pretty rotten, to say the least. Sort of reflects my current mood as well.^^

Long story short, I created Sita: downtrodden, mature above her years, marked by a life she wished was a lot different:

@Caladhiel: I love the way you've captured her sorrow. She's physically young and mentally old, and I think you represented that very well. The only small criticism I have is that her scars seems a bit *too*... uniform? planned? I'm sure there's a backstory to that though!

EDIT 1:

@Saerwen: Both Aranel and Valkrie are brilliant designs. I particularly like Valkrie, though - there's just something about the combination of the eyes with the chin tatoos that somehow works so well together. The design works together, nothing seems out of place.

@Wyldsong: I love your demented elf. He's just brilliant, and utterly crazy. He seems like the kind of guy who plays with people like dolls because that's actually what he thinks they are. Or cast Virulent Walking Bomb and then spend the rest of the battle rolling around laughing as the entire battlefield, enemies and allies alike, explode into chucnky kibbles. Also I really like Voran's face. He somehow seems really tired, as well as intimidating. I think its teh combination of his eyes and the kind-of half-smiling scarred lips.

@Nowshin: I have to admit, your elven Morrigan god-baby is rather cute. There's something in her eyes that somehow reminds me of Shianni. Its probably the distant, dejected look. I like your Orlesian Warden too - particularly the last screenshot. I like rough-looking elves though, hence why I make them all the time.

@Badboy64: That design si really good for one made in the CC. I confess, ever since I discovered how to use the toolset I've been unable to go back! Heaven knows what I'll do when DA2 comes out ("WHAT IS THIS CHARACTER CREATION SCREEN!!!?") Alexander has a pretty solid design. I particularly like the stubble and the eyes. His hair might be a bit too ligth for some, but I rather like the way it accentuates his facial features.

I'll edit this post with some other comments, since I have a lot to catch up on. Here's some designs.

My first HNF, SnS warrior. I wanted her to look sophisticated and regal (also, I never make blonde characters, so I wanted that to be different). She's also very much a woman's woman, so its all Leliana for her - once I get out of the Origin...

And secondly, an old favourite of mine, my ever-embittered and scarred Kallian Tabris. This change was inspired by Wyldsong and the knowledge that you can actually have two different eyes, also I wanted to make a few changes before her final adventure next Tuesday. So she's cut her hair short again, instead of the ponytail she had for Awakening. I actually wanted her to be blind or at least cloudy on one side since the start, but didn't actually know how to do it. I had to ask DP for some guidance on shifting the blind eye to the appropriate side of the face, since all of his defaults had it on the right side as opposed to the left. I think it turned out fairly well. Anyway, without further ado:

I have to admit, I think this threa has spoiled me. Every time I Bioware announces teh characters for a new DLC I just sit there thinking they look hopelessly generic and boring.

I don't see scars on Sita, rather a tattoo - maybe a
fascination for everything about the dalish and
an attempt to get as close to a blood ink tattoo as
the available materials in the alienage and the few
descriptions in books and by travellers allow...

(I just assumed they were scars due to the texture, but that is such a sad tale I have revised my opinion).

@Eudaemonium: There is something special about your HNF that really captures the attention of everyone <3<3<3 I don't know how express it, but there is a certain masculinity in her that adds to her appeal rather than lessen it. A very eye-catching and well-executed design.:wizard:

Not a fan of scarred characters though, so Kallian is probably not my cup of tea.  How did she get that tattoo on her neck, though?

I am SO with you on this. The only DLC char I liked so far in case of looks was Sketch, and that's due to my pretty boy obsession.

Edit: A bigger pic of Miki since Tyrax demanded so^_^

Ah, scarred characters aren't for everyone, so no worries. As for the neck tatoo, I'm going to be useless and say its from some tatoo pack I downloaded ages ago and now have no idea where it came from. The file is called 'uh_tat_pt025_0t', but I've just got it in a folder helpfully labelled 'tatoos' as opposed to all the other tat mods I have that actually have names. I'm going to see if I can track it down for you, or maybe someone else here knows? =/ I'm pretty sure its from the same pack as the one Saerwen used on Aranel, so Saerwen might know.

@Wlydsong Amage has a pretty awesome look, she gives off this terminator 3 cyborg like vibe. Cool stuff

@Neveri With regard to Wynne I gotta say you really pulled off that middle aged look well, you got the blending of the textures just right for it. You also granted Leliana a more sexy and mysterious appearance which compliments her personality more I think. She always gave off this vibe like there is more to her than she lets you see and you captured that look.

@Mochen Wow what a disturbing design you got there, it's like night of the living dead meets children of the corn. From Jack to this I do believe you are harboring a bit of dark side that likes to appear once in awhile and it makes for some interesting designs.

@Starlight I see I am not the only one partial to simplistic and natural looks because that is what both of your latest designs are. I think you can appreciate the structure and proportions more when a character isn't always full of embellishment. This isn't always the case of course but I firmly believe in the less is more theory.

@Petehog Where are you guys getting the inspiration for these ghoulish characters? Only one name comes to mind from the looks of your elf; Nosferatu, yeah I think that sums it up. :alien:

@Nowshin I really like your spread of lovely elf designs, they are all so well crafted and full of life. There are alot of eye catching things you have to some of their features as well that implemented a lot of personality too. I think I shall call you the Beautician, no matter what turn the thread takes you always seem able to maintain very appealing designs and keep the forums looking well groomed. Hair done, nails done, everything did. Haha you're fancy and I approve, keep doing you.  ;)

@LadyAly You really never cease to amaze me with the color arrangement in your designs, that is an aspect of your style that I have always been attracted to. It just gives off a nice harmonic feel and it is very easy on the eyes. I also remember your older design that she is based off of, very nice work. :)

@Caladhiel Hey you, nice to you back from your break. I think you got the melancholic and under appreciated demeanor working just right for Sita. Her eyes are so expressive as well, you can almost see everything that she has been through just from the look in her eyes.

@Eudaemonium I think you definitely accomplished capturing the look that you were aiming to give your HNF. She has a strong presence and looks very confident.

@Nowshin - Well, Meroka does look Morrigan-esque, but has her own unique features. Very natural feel there.

@Cala - Good to see you back=) I almost used that triple threat of scars myself on a toon. Looks like you found a good use for them. Nice.

@Eudae - You pretty much have Cordawyr pinned. He was originally a D&D character I played back in the day, part Drow, and while he was twisted and insane, his father and sister, who were more evil than he, lost out in a fight to him and the party. He ended up preserving their heads in jars, and through various magics, would work them like puppets, making them talk to one another. Yeah, he is a little tweaked.

As for your HF Warrior, good job on her. Captured a look that is attractive and she looks very nononsense and down to business. And I like the changes to Kallian. The butterfly tat on the neck is a very nice touch. How did you manage that?

@Jynthor - I know, I was joking too=P

@Avatar - Appreciate it. I wanted that cold killer look, good to hear it worked out for me=)

Got a question for the public at large, what software does everyone use for capturing screenshots? I want to get some better shots of my characters for the challenge and for here, but I just use the Print Screen function. I know Chairon uses Fraps. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use?

@ Wyldsong: Thank you for the comments. :) Nope, they aren't brothers. :-P

Print Screen is enough do the work. Most of my screenshots are just using print screen. However, there is one extra step to do before taking screen shots. Press "V" which can hide the user interface. This is helpful for capturing better screenshots.

@ LadyAly: Thank you for the comment. Well, I don't think they look similar. Maybe just from certain angle. But, nope, I don't make them similar on purpose.

@ Nowshin: Thank you for your comments! And I have already given you the link through PM.

Wow...Alistair hugging your char. How sweet! Which mod you have used for the hugging?

@ Tyrax: Thank you. :)

@ AvatarHunter: Thank you. You are really thoughful and I agree the "less is more" approach most of the time. Though sometimes my inner rebels surface which leads to those unusual design.

* sigh * I wish I can finish the current commission and come back to post comments and making more face morphs.

Thanks! And evidently you did a good job of displaying Cordawyr's personality in his features ;) He has a lot of it.

The butterfly tatoo comes from a tatoo pack that included some on the neck. Like I say above, I think its the same pack that the tatoo Saerwen used on Aranel is from. Unfortunately I have no idea what the pack was called or where it is now. I can't find it on the Nexus. I'll need to remember to back up those files if I need to reformat the computer.

@Wyldsong Your mean looking dwarf Myra is epic !!!
The both others so wonderful refreshing and unusual *Thick thumbies*

Well I will stuck with the last version with a slightly thicker nose - thanks for the compliment:)
I'm not sure what to took into the Album for the Challenge - Close face ups or more the half-body shots, which has the  vantage to see the color scheme around better. *shrugs*

As for your queston - I do it with the normal printscreen -( hit the button *lol*) but then I crop, enlarge  cut and so on with a small program I got once for my scanner. Works well I would say

@Chairron and @Tyrax  your Screenies let me always giggle - so much fun !

@Nowshin Your Elven Morrigan Demon Babe looks pretty
Your elf looks not really rough - more like very stern and caring for nature B)  I bet without the tattoo he would look much more bad ass.

@Caladhiel *huggles* Nice to see you back and with a awesome renditon, too
Sita looks so sad  - and for all others - it is a ritual scar- I used it too for a dalish elf along with a tattoo.
Exquisite design Cal - !!! :wizard:

@Eudaemonium Your HNF is beautiful. I love her gaze and facial features.
Its good to see Kallian back, too

@AvatarHunter Thank you - I love to combine colors, so it is a harmony. I guess that is obvious :P

It was difficult to coax her out of her embittered state of life-hating for the photo op, so I think she deserves a medal. Poor girl, she went through a lot. I think she might even try to kill Morrigan (if the option is there) out of some misplaced blame and anger over how DAO ended.

My HNF seems to ahve been very well recieved, hehe. I need to design some more. Maybe even enter that unofficial competition. But that woudl entail designing dwarves, and I'm really bad at that...

Btw, does anyone know if you can extract a face-morph from a save-game? As in move one you made in the character creator into the toolset to tweak? I have a couple of designs I like and would like to edit but am finding replicating them really dang difficult.

@Wyldsong~ the link for the tattoo pack that Euda.. is using (sorry to shorten the namePosted Image) is here on the social site. social.bioware.com/project/2371/ it is called Tatouages, and is a HUGE pack, and I am pretty sure I saw that butterfly in there.

@Everyone else will be back to post up later, thanks for the feedback on Aranel and Valkrie, will do some more work on Valk, she doesn't look dwarva enough for me!  Posted Image

Why is Minouche looking up so hard ? Is there Hawkistaire ?

I made since a long time a new Duster -
I wanted her look more young and vibrant - full of energy
She is Berahts right hand - well - mostly to protect her pretty Sis.
She wants out - with all her energy - out of Dust Town, no matter what it cost.

@LadyAly - I like Greta quite a bit. Probably one of the better female dwarfs I have seen. Good work!

@Avatarhunter: *blush* Thank you<3 And I see I also got a nickname.:wizard:

Funny you should call me Beautician when I was trying to make a char that was NOT beautiful:P Meet Mailey Teris, warden of the lost Human Commoner Origin. I tried to give her a starved, impoverished look with a bit of anger thrown in. Growing up in a very poor family, she is quite prejudiced and hates all rich people, specially the arrogant ones.

Posted Image
Posted Image

I spent some time trying to give her slightly rough looking skin, but it looks sh** in some cases of lighting. Should I change it? Is her facial features enough to express her impoverish upbringing?
Posted Image

Was browsing the folder containing my mrh files, dug up a rejected character and gave her a redo. Here goes Yui, the ferocious ninja!!!!!!!

Of course, a pic without the mask :P

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of that crappy white line? Changing the hair color does it, but I don't want to change it.

@ Nowshin: Schratty has taught me a method before.

1. open the .mor (or .mop if used by CC) file with toolset.

2. Expand the tree with the name "MORPH_TINTFILENAMES"

3. In entry 11, there is a wierd value "t1_stbxx_xxx_xxx", e.g. if you use the fifth brown color from Pineappletree's mod, that will be "t1_stbpt_har_br5". Remove the string "t1_stb" from the value. I suspect the string is hard-coded when .mor/.mop file is exported which cause the problem.

4. Save the file.

Import the files in game or CC again, you will see all of the white strips are gone!
