Well, we don't want to start this whole comparison thing again.

But honestly, I think you have the best Morrigan, Leliana and Zevran out of all that I have seen and I have downloaded a lot.

The Mochen and Viruscat ones were good though. But on a personal basis, I like yours.

And for Zevran, I like the sleezy, player look of the DK Zevran you made. Mine! Mine!

Fair enough. but it's bound to happen when people are designing the same people.

@Petehog Part of the difficulty that I've found in trying to create an asian character lies in the lack of a suitable eye colour/texture (in my experience).  If I were to try to recreate myself using the toolset, I'd be at a loss to find a brown that is both dark enough and reflective enough.  Limited eyebrow options also restrict this somewhat, not to mention that I'd have a devil of a time trying to find appropriate settings for my mouth in a default "at rest" position (raising the lower lip works alright but making "fatter" upper lips usually results in a gap between the upper and lower lips that make it look as though the mouth is constantly partially agape).  Eye shape wouldn't be as much of an issue (playing around with eye shape 2 for human males is pretty close but adapting a human male head shape to create a reasonable facsimile would be a struggle).

All of that aside, I'm still contemplating potential changes to it but here's version 9 of my city elf rogue.  I lowered her jaw, played around with the cornea debug setting, widened her mouth and played around with her nose a bit more.  I've come to realise that the hair style I've chosen for her doesn't work so well for a thin face so I've tried to widen her face slightly (jaw and cheek settings).  I'm probably a bit too conservative with my modifications most of the time so I find the feedback that I receive in this thread to be a considerable boon in providing alternative perspectives on my revisions.

Hardest thing to overcome when it comes to making an asian character is the eyelid. Look at this pic:

They don't have that baggy eyelid as western peeps have. No idea how to explain it better...

Thanks for the feedback on Wynne everyone! It's appreciated as always!
VirusCat I know what you mean about the asian single eyelid, however many asian people I know have a 'double eyelid' as they call it. And many also have cosmetic surgery to get a double eyelid 'cut' into them. It's regarded as a very beautiful feature in asia.
I am off to China on tuesday for a month (without the beloved toolset!! nooo!) and my friends there are always talking about this type of thing.

tattercloak: only thing that jumps out at me is that the jaw is still a little too "V" ish IMO, but that first side shot is quite nice.

How is it apples to oranges?  You're designing the same character in the same medium with the same set of tools available.  You were an art major too, so if you had to take art theory you know art isn't truly subjective. ;)

Anyway for the record I agree that your Morrigan, Leliana and Zev are the best morphs I've seen for them.

@ mochen: Brilliant design for Wynne, very well made! Your asian girl is fantastic, she has such an alluring gaze, and the slight smile is very sexy!
@ LadyAly: I am in love with your sazuka design, she is sooo cute! Really good work. <3

Well, as an asian man myself this is my design with asian features. I posted her before but she has probably been forgotten

Oh you again? Are you going to attempt civilized conversation this time? Or is this the start of another trolling session.
The reason petehog said that is because his morphs are designed to cater for many peoples tastes and he listens to many opinions before formulating a final design. Viruscat and mochen have been making their personal vision of how the character should look, that they will use in their games only. The reason you probably prefer petehogs is that is what it was designed for. And designed very well obviously.

btw, where is your Jocelyn Wildenstein design? Mine's nearly done. :bandit:

I don't plan to release my NPCs. I had a small plan about doing that but I use so many mods in my designs that they just wouldn't be anywhere close without them. I can't take the cred for them since they wouldn't be nearly the same without the skintones from Pineapple or the eyes from Petehog and... (I can go on and on).

Most of the character mods people release come with requirement to have a number of extra mods installed so that isn't really a problem, nor is there issue with giving the credit/taking one for the character making work -- people are generally smart enough to tell where one ends and the other begins Posted Image

Well, I went back at some of my Wynne designs and decided it was time to give her an upgrade. FIxed the proportions a bit.

And as always, there's always a group of folks who have ageism and want a younger Wynne even though it doesn't go with the lore. So this would be included as well.

Not so much.  I like Petehog's designs because his faces look very realistic, although there are times his female designs come out a bit cookie cutter.

Still look at Mochen's Zevran for instance
edit *image removed*

That jaw line looks very sloppy, as others have pointed out.  Using the "personal taste" excuse doesn't make deformities and obvious mistakes acceptable.  Compared to Pete's Zevran which is very sharp and well proportioned I would say his is clearly the more refined work.  Please don't take criticism personally, I'm being as objective as I can be here.

Believe it or not, there are  folks out there who are like..."No grannies!" "We want hot young teeny boppers!"

Sigh.

Sort of on the same subject....

What I honestly don't understand is these "handsome Sten" mods that are hanging around. There's people out there that are trying to make Sten a good looking chap..and I'm like..."That's like totally..wrong." ha ha.

Petehog: I know what you mean, I don't mind ugly, as long as its well-proportioned, pretty ugly, etc.
...LOL. I think when I look up "redundant" in the dictionary later, I'll find "see redundant"...or is that ironic? ok, I'm done making an ass of myself.

yeah, "handsome sten" is kinda weird. another mod I have is for sten, but it's just a re-structure of him or some such.

Excellent work Forlorn. By far my favourite character created by the community. That nose on her is outstanding, and her chin and jaw line/s are just as apt and poignant.

To those that have modified Wynne; She's perfect as is in the vanilla version, what versions i've seen in this thread in the last few pages are a big step in the wrong direction.

Of course that's just my two coppers worth, take it for what it is.

I have to say that I like both versions of Wynne on display in the past two pages.  Both mochen and Petehog have done a pretty good job at creating aged versions of Wynne that would fit in well in most games.  I have to admit that a young Wynne would look a bit odd to me but there are undoubtedly people out there who want that (the same goes for Sten, "handsome" is not an adjective that I would necessarily associate with his character but some folks probably want that).

@yasuraka.hakkyou I tried to tone down the "v" shape a bit while still maintaining enough of it to keep it a part of the character design (I'm still intentionally trying to avoid making this character too "girlish", as odd as that may sound).  The changes are, once again, pretty minor but the jaw was nudged down a bit (and marginally widened) while the jaw/chin slider was bumped back up and made ever-so-slightly wider to compensate.

And, purely for my own cheap laughs, here's my human noble again augmented a bit by my lousy Photoshop skills. ^_^

@ Tattercloak:

Version 9.5 is the best so far, finally outdoing version 6. I think your face-widening was the key that salvaged this chara for me. Now she definitely looks good enough for dungeon-spelunking.

Thanks Mlai00. It's a softer look than version 6 but not to the point of version 5 or 7. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it now so I might actually get around to finishing Redcliffe with her (the Deep Roads section of Orzammar is about the one part of the game that I hate repeating just due to the length). I've got to admit that it's easy to get sucked into spending a lot of time goofing around with the toolset and it's threads like this one (and the ugliest character thread) that make it a lot of fun.

Tattercloak, I can tell you've been working pretty hard at the design and I'd like to help. Again, my advice is subjective and it may not be the best fit. But these are just my observations.

These are things I feel would improve the proportions of your character.

Right click on the image and click "View image". I used Adobe Photoshop for the "eye comparision" thing so it's not a copied morph.
