I might play around with a more feminine variant at some point but yeah, I was actually aiming for a bit androgynous this time around (or at least tomboyish) hence the very minimal use of makeup and the hair style.  I still wanted to leave enough elements in that it would at least give an observer pause before guessing either way but seeing as almost everyone in this thread has guessed it was a female right away, I don't think I did a very good job of hiding it (I'll admit that as a guy, I'm probably still at least subconsciously aiming towards making a semi-attractive female even if the character herself might try to pass herself off as a male sometimes to ward off trouble). ;)

I was actually worried that if I moved her eyes down, it'd leave too large of a gap between her eyes and her eyebrows but the version you have there still looks decent, Petehog, so I'll give that a shot.  The hair style covers up her ears so I can probably mask the fact it won't line up exactly with the upper portion of where her ear is connected to her head (that or reduce the size of her ears and reposition them if I ever choose to change her hair style).  Thankfully, these are all fairly easy adjustments to make in the toolset so I'll play around with them just a bit longer and then get back to dragging yet another character through Redcliffe :pinched:

EDIT: And since I forgot to mention it, thanks for the feedback, folks.  I may not use every bit of it but there are some ideas that I'll keep in mind, even if I don't necessarily use it for this particular character.

Hardest thing to overcome when it comes to making an asian character is the eyelid. Look at this pic:

They don't have that baggy eyelid as western peeps have. No idea how to explain it better...

Maybe there's a way to "paint" an eyelid in.

@LadyAly@mochen@meathook Seriously you've been worked with asian face before? ahh wow I didn't notice that when I visit your albums. They have a really close asian looks. I especially like Sazuka. pfff I'm an asian but I can't make an asian faces. Not even close. Maybe coz I've been looked up on them here too long/much. :D

@Tattercloak Yup I would follow Petehog's advice. Don't worry, you should see the differences. I have my human females with oval shape faces and they look okay.. well to me at least. The chin distance is good, don't modify that. Try decreasing the wide of the jaw more than usual, she should look more oval. v9.5 is great but just a little bit of adjustment is good enough fer me. Go ahead, I'll be waiting for  your next version. ^^

and@Petehog Don't forget to include v5 Wynne. She may not be lore, but she's my favourite version.

Anyway here's my latest warden Kien the anti-mage showing off. He had a blatant look as a reason of easily carried out a task and easily bring down maleficars. Here he is, I don't know... I should start making other races than humans. especially female dwarves or elves, and hopefully its a success.

Excellent work Forlorn. By far my favourite character created by the community. That nose on her is outstanding, and her chin and jaw line/s are just as apt and poignant.

Thnx i appeciate the kind words from you & everyone.

@mightmagix  Real nice job.

I've been studying your designs very closely and I was wondering whether you could provide MRH screenshots for the character you made above.

Well, I tried the recommended tweaks and here's how it turned out:

Posted Image
Posted Image

Eyes were moved down a fair bit (I tried moving them even lower but it looked a bit odd in the toolset), lips were made slightly fatter, her jaw was moved in and chin/jaw slider widened in an attempt at a rounder meld with the jaw (without altering the chin/jaw height) and the "square jaw" slider was reset to 0.  Cheek settings were left at the previous setting but the reduced jaw width did of course impact that as well.  Both sets of profile shots look fairly similar so the main differences are best compared via the frontal screenshots.

I'm just glad that I kept a save prior to the battle as the entry foyer to Lloyd's Tavern is a decently-lit neutral backdrop for screenshots.

EDIT: Also, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person getting some decent mileage out of the Grey Warden Runic Armour.  It looks great in screenshots for male and female characters alike.

EDIT2: And just for the heck of it, here's an alternate version of 10 with an even rounder jaw:

@ Tattercloak - Version 10 might be my favorite now.. but it's getting really hard to decide! The batman thing made me laugh!
@ Mightmagix - Wow! You really got a petehog style character there. It's the eyes, he has a very unique way of doing them, I always recognise it!
@ Noir - Yep, I've spent a bit of time in China before doing various things, so from Tuesday I will be considerably less active on here, at least for a month :( I will try and post comments when I get a spare moment though.

So I woke up this morning to find more personal attacks on my characters. Why Taint Master? If you don't post any serious work of your own, no one is going to take you seriously. Yes the jaw line was a bit off, but as I stated, the toolset is limited so I can't sort it out without messing up the whole face. I can only do so much with the tools I'm given. Besides, it really doesn't show up in the game 99% of the time. I like him, and that's all I care about seeing as he is for my personal use only (unless someone requests his .mor which I'm more than happy to provide)

Also you may prefer realism, but surely you understand that I'm not going for out and out realism in my designs?  It's a fantasy game, and these are my fantasy characters.

You're talking at me like I've been commissioned by bioware, I'm just doing this for fun. And I don't have any fancy Art qualification. I'm just a normal girl with a normal job, who likes to make designs.
I really don't think you belong here, so please don't come back again.

Damn mochen, good reply

@Tattercloak
I can't decide between the last 3 you posted. They're all very good. I think the widening that I suggested worked very well!

I wanna play now, so that I can encounter my own Zevran.. he's SO handsome ;D

The reason I ask for a screenshot of the MRh is because of 2 reasons.

First of all, that is a design that has a blend which is specific to the toolset. So I know that rules out CC.

Second of all, there are some "tells" that I use to track my designs. It's always possible to edit a .mor file, but there are some things that remain constant.

If you could provide a screenshot of the MRH of the design, it would remove all doubt.

I see. Hrm.

I would be happy if people stopped quoting posts that quoted pics btw. Just replace the pic with "[Picture of X's character Y]" or something. It messes up the forum layout. Sorry if i sound like an angry lady ;D Just a suggestion so that we don't have these messed up pages :3

It's hard to tell because the image on the left is at a 35 degree angle. But there is something fishy. If I see a screenshot of your MRH, that would remove all doubt. Certain values can be changed in a .mor and certain values cannot be changed.

The reason he looks familiar.. is that it's just the same old Minsc face. :pinched:

@all  thanks very much for the kind commands about Sazuka - she is indeed the cutest Character and if I play her I attempt always stare at her *lol* ( sounds weirdo )

@Tattercloak :o Version 10 ! Man you have worked so hard on this design - and the coming out now is great !

@mochen bah - I will miss you - but have a good time. I- for myself - will be away after 22. May for around 4 weeks. But I guess I will check the forums as well if I have the time or find a terminal to use.

And  I give 2 thumbs-up for the reply to our loud mouthy troll, who always gives out unnecessary comments and is  proofing nothing with his own work.

@meathook I think I have said it before - this Asian- Style-Char is very very unique and exotic - I love her

@Petehog + @mochen Wynne re-design is great from both of you. And as Petehog said - I can't imagine my Wynne as a young beautiful teenager *lol* Sounds so ridiculous to the lore.
And I can see what you mean Petehog about  mightmagix's post

@mightmagix Oh nice Dude you made there - must have a look at this armor - could fit probably my Ahab very well - but I hope Petehogs doubts are not true, though:?

@VirusCat - New Zevran ?? NICE ! I hope you load him up soon in your Albums or here ... can't wait.

@Presence  Hehehe - another great Dude - your Charas having always a cheeky expression in the screenies

@ LadyAly - Thanks for your kind words on my Wynne design :)
@ VirusCat - I agree with LadyAly, I'd like to see your Zevran design!
@ Presence - Shiver me timbers, I love that design!
@ Petehog - That looks like the same face to me. Mightmagix, please say it's not true!

Thanks for the feedback and kind words, folks.  I wasn't sure if the changes between versions was too incremental for a while (with the exception of the change to version 6).

@Petehog Regarding your eyelid point, would it be possible to add it directly to the texture (much like you did with the lipstick mod)?  And I agree with mochen that it's always been the eyes that I've found the most distinctive about your designs.  For the most part, it works quite well; there are only a handful of cutscenes/conversations I've encountered (where the characters are normally wincing) where it appears as though they've shut their eyes entirely.

@Presence There's something about a pirate mage that I find amusing.  I don't suppose you've tried playing around with slapping Duncan's beard and/or thicker eyebrows on him, just for fun?  I have to say that the first time I saw a picture of Duncan, with his earring and his beard, I immediately thought "pirate".

If that's the goal, then probably widening the chin and making it more angular overall may help. This here: http://www.facialfem...male_faces.html is a pretty handy rundown on what makes the female and male faces different, it should help you to pinpoint areas to tweak/focus attention on. Ah, I forgot that the facial hair in this game can completely alter the facial structure. That's too bad. I just figured that he might look pretty good with slightly-longer facial hair. I am rather fond of the facial expression of your character in that picture, Presence. To me, it's a hybrid between a smirk and a "did anybody notice what I just did?" expression with his glance over to his right.

@tmp7704 Thanks for the link.  I'll take a look at it.

@Petehog Hey there man. Okay. Firstly let me apologize for such inconvenience but I assure you its just a mere coincidence if my designated characters ever resembled yours. But yes I used toolset for my male characters. Allow me to explain, I started my work regardless of race and gender from scratch. I don't know how to open mor file of an npc and I wouldn't tweak it even if I knew how. I hear mor file can cause serious damage to our gameplay if modified. So I have been using Ser Gilmore references by saving his screenshot ingame and visualise to reshape my male characters. But when you redesigned him I refer with each new screenshots. I didn't play awakening yet so I pretty much don't know how anders look like, and as I said Ser Gilmore pics reference and toolset reshape. Mine is absolutely genuine. Its just maybe they look almost the same, surprisingly thats all.

Here's my mrh screenshot.

img514.imageshack.us/img514/1710/mrhscreenshot01.png

As far as i know its impossible to open and modify mor file even using toolset. I'm not that good. All I can see is numbers and no head morphs. Please understand. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

Thank you for those who supporting me and so sorry for the artists who felt disturb bout this. Its my original creation I assure you. No copycat. This is soo embarassing...:(

First, thanks for the feedback on Morgan.

I experimented with different beards, even tried to make "Captain Jack Sparrow" beard from a dwarf beard. I'm very satisfied with the face structure (to the point that I just keep making minor alterations of the same face).

Morgan and Minscaza got one more brother, named Davy, which I personally regard as my best face so far... But seeing how I'm already posting the (basically) same face all over the thread, I just posted Davy in my album, in case someone's interested.

I believe you mightmagix. There's only so many options and everyone always gets inspired by others - even if you don't do it on purpose. It's just something we do without noticing ^^

I know I've made a face that looks alot like a face by Petehog, and it's not odd since he makes SO many faces. Something is bound to be alot like his designs :P

Ultimately, no harm done, mightmagix. I will say that I've tried mixing unique face shapes together before but it turned out far better for you than it did for me. Good stuff.

@Presence I took a look at your character collection and I can't believe I missed some of those designs before. I still like your Russell Crowe/Gladiator and Clint Eastwood was a fun surprise as well. The guy with the crazy mustache still takes the crown though.

@tmp7704 I took a look at that link and there are quite a few very good points about the differences between your average male and female face that I wasn't aware of (for example, the bit about the forehead). I've tinkered with the city elf rogue a fair bit by now so I'll probably just leave it be but even for making more traditionally masculine or feminine characters, those are some good points. Thanks again.
