really irritating, depressing things.

...wow. I'm kinda glad I never really released any of my work. Petehog, VirusCat, and anyone else who had to deal with that disgrace: I'm sorry you had to endure that. I truly am.

(sorry if this wording offends, I'm exhausted tonight)

@badboy64~ the hair is the third hairstyle from the Don't worry be hairy back, you have to download it seperate and rename all the files.

@Petehog~ Wow, I had read on your mod page what happened, and even commented on it over there, I had no idea the scope of that assha#s theft.  I can totally understand why you don't want to release the rest of the mod, I am saddenend, as I was looking forward to it, but understanding.  I have had ppl over on the nexus at times aggresively ask me for mrh files, and I just tell them no, and offer to change what they would like... but that goes so much beyond.  I can't believe the Nexus did nothing.

I second that Saerwen.  There is some cool things on nexus, but there is few mods that I have look out for.  Yes, don't be shy Pete.  When we all pick, "What's new today"  if we see Dragon Age Redesign. My hand is already hitting to that link. The sad thing, if you go private, we will have some kick butt morphs that we can't even share the mor files with.  Because what one, " Blank" person did.

Petehog.  The other thing I've been thinking about lately, will Bioware release toolset for DA2?  Because I see group of talented people that can make some killer morphs, over their staff.  Maybe its the fresh set of eyes, or time that its allowed.  Personnally it would be really cool if they released a character creator and allowed some of us to create some NPC's.

:whistle::whistle::whistle: Maybe :lol:

Well I am to sleepy to comment the designs - but a few things to Petehog

At a special point I thought I could release some of my designs to public. Then there was the *rudeness* against mochen. *Okay, no project release- maybe Nexus* was my thought.

But honestly - your issue was coming just at that point. Since I gave a message to the Staff in Nexus about the offending words and stolen work on his Mod I was full of hope he gets banned. But nothing - beside a official warning - happened.
People like him, this assh.... Brumbek,  are the reason I wont make any design public - never. I told him that on his comment side from the teeth mod unequivocal .
I know he has contacted V.C. about her morphs, too - but I suppose she has kicked his shin.

I was really in fear you will leave completely Pete - and I'm glad you are still here - Dragon Age, the experience - wouldn't be the same without your Mod. :)

@AvatarHunter and Xirbeus
Sure I have a lot of pictures. But the renditions I made are Characters I played in the particular games. I'm not taking simple a picture and make a rendition out of it.
This Rendition - or let say the Characters - are challenging. You make a background story in your head, then chose a profile picture which is fitting to the character and background. Then the playing starts and you have at the beginning no idea what will happen to your Char - what a destiny.  In such games you have a rough idea not a ready storyline  - that is maybe more intriguing as all others.  You never know how others react to your Character - there are always humans behind  -  erratically.
I stopped honestly to play this games about community issues and/or my crappy playtimes. It's nearly impossible to play on a american server about the time difference.

Reposting some stuff, because we all got in the heat of very important topic.

But before that. Even though she is most likely a sleep by now.
LadyAly, I should of explained more.  The stockpile of art is, actually awesome.  I guess my sense of humor is little rusty.  Was just joiking around with you.  Your work has been great.  Sometimes I just have to say, WOW! not only for your character but how fast you can make one.  The morph I helped you recover, you did it so fast I swear, I just hit the send key.

The last art photo you showed us was awesome, wish you had the artist name, reminds me of Emi sort of, just need to put the hair down and well replace tattoo.. nice shot!

@Nowshin, I forgot to mention this, I really enjoyed the blast from the past. With your work with Winona Ryder.  I thought it was great and got a kick out of seeing Winona, transfered into the realm of Dragon Age,.  Which would be better for her than the Aliens movie she was in.

I never really
used Bidelle's textures much, well at least with morphs I created.  I've
my favorites with draconies.  Now with this new elf, or like Petehog
likes to use elfy.

I really wish we could change the scale.

Like tall and skinny elves, vs short and skinny.

So
after the little Morrigan DLC and the story of these mirrors.  I was
thinking, what if Ancient Elven clan leader wanting to save his
daughter, and have a living person to help preserve their culture and
history from the Tervinter Imperium.
So in rash move, he cast powerful spell and utilizing the mirror.  His daughter
was placed in magical time capsule for over 1000 years.

Don't have a name for her, either
Image IPB

I changed the tint of the armor, because it looked better with her colors, and something different.
Image IPB

posted shot earlier with her closeup via the toolset.

@Petehog  The only reason that goes through my mind and the articles that I read about DA2.  Is possible Microsoft of someone in the console area didn't like the uneven graphics with Origins and either strong armed Bioware or threw them some money.

I will most likely buy DA2, but if they release it and limit what we can do, and pump out DLC, they will lose me for sure. That I am most sure of.

.I will add one more photo from the toolset.

And I wasn't offended or something - thought only it needs a bit more explanation ;)

As for your Character - she is very unique, but if you tone down the Tat a little bit it wouldn't draw the attention from her facial features.
Bah - no time - *heads out*

@Petehog I would have to say agree with just about everything you mention. But Microsoft, yes i still use their operating system. I have fairly powerful beast of a machine. But when Microsoft went into the gaming business. At first they was buying of gaming companies. Ensemble Studios. Even had campaigns with windows, that had stamp of approval. "Made to Run with Microsoft Windows". I have a close friend who works for Microsoft. During this time period, there was little internal war. In the long run, it was better to pay game companies to make for the XBOX. I am not sure, but I think their big move was Halo. In earlier development is was being made for the PC. But yeah, XBOX is really just PC that still has Windows operating system. So not sure who started it with console war, and they are all paying game companies to make games just for them. The PC is left in the shadow. I used to walk into Best Buy and be rows and rows of PC software now its really small. Some went to the digital distribution and they make more money in the long run. Well at least hope they give us something. Like I said, in previous message, even character creator is something.

Whoops. I was trying to clean up some of the large posts I made and accidentally deleted the one above yours.

But I think despite what I think about Dragon Age 2, I think it's going to be a great game. I've been playing computer games since 1999, and Bioware has never disappointed me. They were never really known for thier graphics but more for thier compelling stories and characters. I think if it included a toolset, it would be fantastic. Toolsets add so much gameplay on top of the actual game. And it's really fun because you get to create something. For guys like me, creating something is sometimes more fun or just as fun as the game itself.

@Petehog Your first redesign package was lifesaver. Even then there was a lot of morphs of morrigan and Leliana. At least you had everything packaged up and few choices for us to pick from (early package). I think your first redesign was day I bought Dragon Age Collectors Edition for the PC. Yes, my wife bought me PS3 version for Christmas. Until I purchased the PC version I player around with the Character creator.

Dave

Thank you for the kind words.

Many people did like the older versions as it was manual and allowed more customization. I wish I could do it the old way but it's hard to trust people nowadays. There's no way to change the outcome but...the installer method is made in a way where it is obvious when others attempt to steal the work within them...ie. Brumbek, etc.

dang thats why yo do that, man that sucks, I miss the old days of doing that, but now I just put a design I want override in the toolsetexport folder. Still its sad that someone did that, just not right, just screws it up for the rest of us

Good to see that someone else has already seen to the removal of that ripoff mod.

He can count his blessings he didn't catch a permanent ban from Nexus and BW social.

But a special *hug* to Nowshin who helped to finish Reisha <3
@Neveri Nareni looks exotic :wizard: and like some others I do hate this hairstyle *grins* but it works on Narena.

@AvatarHunter Richard is pretty handsome - no flaw on both versions.

From what I heard, DA2 uses the same toolset as DAO. It just needs a compatibility patch or something.

Mike Laidlaw wrote...

Hey folks,

Victor managed to hunt me down, and I wanted to clear
up a few things with regards to what I'm seeing as the two major
concerns on this thread.

First off, let's talk about the toolset
issue. Obviously in this community there's going to be some concern
that we wouldn't release a toolset, so let me clear the air a little:
The tools we're using to make Dragon Age 2 are very, very close to the
tools you guys have used to make your mods for DA:O. They're not
identical, as we've made a few in-house improvements, but they're almost
identical. As such, there isn't a new toolset to release, per se.

While
we won't be releasing a toolset update in tandem with Dragon Age 2, we
ARE investigating what it would take to update the community toolset to
match ours, along with providing DA2 content in the future.

As
you can probably tell from my phrasing, all of this is a bit in-flux
right now, so things may change between now and ship, but I wanted to
update you guys on the current direction of things.

Mike..

So yeah, it sounds like it wouldn't take much for them to release something to us. But the worrying thing is they don't seem to realise that it's actually very beneficial for them to release a toolset.

Quickly post 4 more characters. I will catch up with the comments later on.

I'm experiementing how wide can the toolset be accomodate without deforming the character, e.g. sharp angles, rough edges and wierd shapes occurs when some extreme values are applied or put together.

The result is rather disappointing, I have a hard time to create any bear-type characters.

I jest about them and give them the name "The Brotherhood of Bears" :P

Agreed. Take NeverwinterNights (NWN) as example, it is the vast community-made content, single player modules, multiplayer persistant worlds which attract players to purchase NWN+SoU+HoTU, not the offical content Bioware released themselves.

Ack @ Lady Aly - I accept the reasons behind the self installer and
each time I have to backup  alternate npc designs and move tons of DA
Redisigned mor files  manually into the mor folder I promise myself
to go after the morons who made it nessecarry right after judgement day.

@ DA 2 toolset y/n:
No altered Da O toolset for DA 2  confirmation from BW
(wich was what Mike Laidlaw hinted during the previous
forum meltdoown over this topic) means
preorder cancel here - simple as that.
I give them ~ a week before release day though.

lol my typos are terrible, but heres my attempt on trying to make dwarfs, I've never really did much dwarfs in retrospect. But here was my attempt tp maker a Berseker dwarf. Using the hawke textures, I was wondering how this would look on her, I guess like some bloody type of war paint and I have to say, it suits the dwarf pretty well lol

Thera Aeducan
Image IPB

Image IPB

got her voice to violent, so she's saying some pretty nasty sassy things, I like it XD. The design itself is not so different from the original default, kinda tweak it to give a realistic look to it. But I guess I'll have to give it some practice if I want to get this type of warrior down, the dwarfs I mean. This was the mop file version, I was too lazy to actually apply the morph to the character herself XD. But did what I could in the character creator editor, to try to make her looking the way I liked in the mor.

Strangely I felt I wanted to make a female version. Of that dalish concept elf.

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB
This was a second version of her, more long slender face and smaller eyes to give that realistic look

This was a attempt to give a more realistic feel to the design, but after awhile trying, it started looking alittle bit like Petehog XD. Ah man, kinda sucks in that aspect, since thats not what I intended. Petehog really inspires me to make more realitistic renditions of these mor faces. But  after awhile, its hard to not make it looking the simliar to his. ahhh man
