@ LadyAly: To tell you the truth, I prefer the third version of your dwarf. The original hairstyle you used doesn't look bad... it's just, as Mlai00 said, that loose & straight hair just doesn't look very dwarfish. ;) Apart from that, she's really pretty, and I like the thicker eyebrows!

@ Wyldsong: She looks very girlish - which isn't a bad thing at all! I usually find it more difficult to create younger-looking characters than more mature-looking ones (younger-looking meaning teenagers). Although her boobs DO seem humongous in that outfit^^

@ Axekix: I don't know if I already told you that I love this elf? Well in case I didn't, you know now.^^ Only thing I'd change a little is the height of her eyebrows. I'd lower them a pinch to take away that surprised look. ;)

@ AtomRobot87: If only the damn thing would work for me!! You can't imagine the envy when I see all your great toolset designs.*sob* I swear, if I get this stupid 'can't connect to the database' message ONE more time.....

Yep - I will go for the third Version, too - maybe I make only her hair again a tad darker.

@Axekix

Wow, I don't think I can recommend any changes on her, she's really pretty :) She fits in well and I just loooove freckles ;P

@Wyldsong

I like her! She really looks like a cunning rogue :)

@LadyAly

I don't play much nowadays, and I have not met Zevran with any of my chars... I might just pop in and do that for your sake tho ;)

I guess my idea with the presets wasn't very... popular? :S

@ LadyAly: Yep. I was only waiting for him to say he was another art major. As if that qualified for anything :D

@ VirusCat: Like LadyAly I guess I simply didn't read your post thoroughly enough! To be honest I'd really appreciate having some different presets... as long as they can be integrated into the CC :whistle:

Alistair Version 27

I made him a bit older. Made a new eye texture for him. But kept the eye shape the same as the original Alistair. Not going to bother to post a big picture of him since I've spammed this thread with lots of pictures of him. But here is the link.

And here's  a redesign of the elf I made before. I don't really name my characters. We'll call her "random NPC 45"

I'm sorry, Petehog, as great as your designs are (this one included), this just takes away the magic. It's not all about looking pretty, it's about characters. 'Random NPC 45'? It's... lifeless. :mellow:

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but that's the main reason I can't really connect to your characters. They're exquisitely lovely... but there's nothing behind the facade, no background story... not even a name... Just a picture.

On my first (cursory) read of this, I thought the picture was your new Alistair :whistle:

Hm, might I be so bold as to voice my opinion: I've noticed in all your Alistair's, the lip has a bright pink (almost coral?) tone to it... I don't know if its the complexion or a lipstick, but IMO it really detracts away from Alistair since it makes the colouring so different.

Just something to think about :)

Ellyssa: I'm a sucker for tan characters with oval/heartshaped faces so she rocks :happy:

I'm working on the presets atm. I'm not making huge changes to some of them, especially some of the dwarf females are really good already. I will make minor changes (like widening the nose a little) and try to keep the spirit of the original so to speak. The elves will get major care tho :3

Here's Dwarf Female Preset 1 for example. I will make 2 versions of everything - one with BLEND and one without it. That is the only difference on these ones.
Blend is my fav toolset-feature which makes it possible to mix 2 complexions. It doesn't show very much on DFP 1, but it will on some others.

I think the rightmost is the best, 'cause she has the female complexion blended with some of the elf complexion. The middle only has the base female one. Everything else on them is identical.

Image IPB

BUT! The blend makes it so that if you want to use another complexion, like Bidelle's Makeup ones, it won't look good at all. The complexion you change in the CC is the base one, in this case the female. The elf one I blended in there is on top of the female one. I made a pic to show what I mean. I don't think many people use this particular complexion but it shows very well what I mean. If you try to use a complexion with only eyemakeup, it won't show at all. The elf blend is set to 100% around the eyes.

Bidelle's Na'vi-makeup

Conclusion: I found it best to provide both a blend one and a non blend one. If you don't want to use a different complexion I reeeeally recomment the blend one, but the non blend works fine :o

VirusCat the blend almost softens her face! did you notice that?

Also, this is to you and anyone really: What happens if you make a Toolset character (call it A), override a preset with it, then override that preset with something else?

Does it make character A go all wonky?

No, as soon as the character is out of the CC it won't be affected by changes to the presets :)

And yes, it softens her face :) Especially around the mouth. I love that, and I always use blend on my chars for that effect. Others might not like it and for them I provide the one without blend. I'm so smart ;D

Oh wow, thanks for the warm responses, haha.  I guess I won't touch this design much!

@Caladhiel : I probably should've mentioned, the pic on left is from the CC after I imported her from the toolset so I could make her talk.  Her eyebrows aren't always that high, they're just raised cause of her expression.
I thought it'd be a nice change from the blank stare the PC has 90% of the game :lol:

@Virus cat: I like the direction your dwarf morphs are taking!  I agree your blended preset looks the best.  Euca hit the nail on the head when he said it really seems to soften her features.

I've never really tried designing a fem dwarf personally, so I think that'll be my next project (you've inspired me!).  With dwarves do you generally go for more rounded/wide features?

Yep, I think dwarves look best with round and wide features. Big eyes look pretty good on them, and I always aim to make the noses just a tad bit bigger than human standards.

I'm on the fourth DF preset now and it's really fun to create Catified versions of the original presets instead of just making completely different faces :)

@ ellyssa: Might we get a frontal view..? Or at least a close-up? =]

@ Axekix: Okay, now I get it. :D

As for dwarves, here's my latest take on Eris. Widened the nose, narrowed the eyes, softened the tattoo. Personally I don't think she looks quite as miserable as the original (see my sig), but I suppose she turned out okay...

She looks very miserable, but not as... cool as before :( I would only keep the softened tat and restore the rest :3

@ Lady Aly:

I have no strong preference for any 1 of your dwarf versions. I think they all look correct, and it's up to you which one goes into your game. It depends on her personality and how you want to play her.

@ Viruscat:

Wow thanks for the blending tip! I've always disliked the default "older complexion" for the elven women! Now I know what to do about it!

Original post updated above. Side-view has highlighted the utterly ridiculous positioning of the ears by default, something i would change if i had the means to.

Haha, I was just thinking about the horrible default earplacement. It's bothering me to bits now when I'm tweaking the presets. All the ears go from the mouth to the nose, heightwise. It's NOT proper anatomy!

@Mlaii00 Yesh I know :), though, thanks for the help- it is appreciated :)

@VirusCat you are also our DwarfCat - you just proofed it with the posted presets ;P - any opinions to Sonya ?

@Caladhiel The first Version was much better - for my taste one of the best Dusters I have seen. Now she is still a Duster but lost some in her appearance what let me stare in awe before.

@Elyssa PLZ a clearer close up ? She looks very interesting !

@Petehog The latest *older* version of Alistair looks pretty good - me likes :)

Well, these are not really DwarfCat morphs, rather DwarfCatified presets ^^ I'm just Catifying the original ones :3 They do look good however. I wannaplay with about 3 of them so far :D And that's 3 out of 5 I've done! :D
