@mochen How managed you to give your new elf this *wicked* appearance ? I still think the elf ears are tooo big in general. Is there a possibility for smaller ones ? so they not looking as if the Char could playing Ping-Pong with ?

@Mlai00 Snotra is the best, sweetest dwarf I have ever seen - includes her name <3 !!! I adore her since I have seen the first screenshot

@Petehog I said it before - Your Morrigans are the best ( look behind Snotra ! )

@y.h. oooh.. I never thought this armor can look so good. Fits Elissa very well.

big piccy of Elissa, she's a sad panda ATM...

and a toolset-made city elf. I have a feeling mochen and v.cat might like her. EDIT: see next page.

Oh dear, that pic just makes one want to cuddle her!^^

Creating this thread was a great idea, btw. I always love seeing what kind of characters other people post - it inspires me and gives me new ideas for future chars. All the better that we now aren't restricted to pretty characters anymore.

Here's one of the mages I created a while back. I must admit that I abandoned him after completing the Origin. I thought he looked too old, it just didn't seem to fit in with the game (Irving calling him 'child' sort of freaked me out...). I've never managed to delete any of my characters, though. I've got probably hundreds of screenshots waiting to be sorted out... Anyway, here's Ecurio, who was supposed to specialize in Spirit magic but got stranded on the way to Ostagar:

Wow, thanks for complimenting Snotra everybody!  I never meant for her to be a 'pretty' chara, which is why I posted her here.  But yeah she's a class 5 hurricane of adorability!    And to think I just whipped her up in the CC in about 15 minutes when I was ready to play DC!

I'm not sure why some of you like the name so much, without knowing its origin?  I usually try to have a name with a meaning:

Snotra = In Norse mythology, Snotra is an obscure goddess whose name means "the clever one" in Old Norse.
Hister = The name interpreted to refer to Adolf Hitler by the seer Nostradamus.

@ Petehog:
If you're basing your Morrigan redesign on V.Johnson... don't you think her face should be longer?

@ Axekix:
Yeah, Sten punched her in the eye LOL.

@ Yasu:
I think you should crank your video settings up to max, when you're ready to take screenshots.  Framerate doesn't matter for that.

And LOL at Elissa's sad panda.  Don't worry, Snotra cba'ed to do that stupid flame puzzle either.  Too bad there's no shortcut to save that girl.

I think your blonde elf needs to lighten her eyeshadow.  It would give her a pure, natural air.  Since everything else about her is so pale and light.

@ Mochen:
While people don't have to look evil to be evil... that elf guy doesn't look very evil.  Did you intentionally give him a harmless face?

@ Caladhiel:
Ecurio is great.  In the first pic, he makes me think he is young Thulsa Doom played by a young James Earl Jones!  Don't worry about Irving; I'm sure he calls everybody 'child'.

Edit: Ah! :o  I gotta make a human mage who looks like Thulsa Doom!!!!!!1

^ thank you for your comment on my elf. He originally had different eyebrows but they looked rather stuck on, so I changed them.

@y.h. Your new elf has fragile features. The only thing I dislike on her is the eyeshadow - the pink/purple *bites* with her style and eyes. give her a more light blue color - or probably nothing. She is the *pure* kind of an elf.

Poor sad Panda - I want to hug her ...

@Caladhiel ah this is a quite fine mage - maybe we can see him in daylight once ?

@mochen Oh no - keep his face - he looks like the way you wanted him. I wouldn't trust him, not even for a lot of gold XD

You changed a pic we already commented on? I take back my words, now he looks like he'd never hurt anyone.:P

My latest. I only know that the creature behind him is a miniature giant space hound.
Certain things will be changed on the final version. I'm planning to play origins and awakening with this one.. Well, I know it's been my intention with the last 10 characters or so...

Ooooh. :o:happy:
Terrific !

Speaking of which I had tried to do this for fun not long ago, but I guess she's barely recognizable because Bioware themselves could never decide on a face for her (seriously, she practically looks like a different person in every artwork she appears in, only the armor never changes and well, that's not something I have the skill to remake.)

mlai: I could, but I CBA'd myself to do that. they come out alright anyway IMO, and I can hopefully get a gaming PC pretty soon, so the settings will (hopefully) be on max. Snotra is an adorable hurricane BTW :)

I see what you mean about the eyeshadow, and LadyAly as well. good thing she's a toolset face :)

loc_n_lol: maybe try the 2nd lipstick on the first face? I like the first one more.

@ Presence - Do you want me to give feedback on this character? You didn't seem to be very happy when I tried saying something about your last work.

@ Loc_n_lol - I love the first design!

@ YH - Your city elf is lovely! She has a really soft face (definitely my taste!)

@ Caladhiel - I really like him actually. I never see that particular tattoo used as it often looks bad. But it really seems to work on him. The strong jawline and chin make him look very masculine!

I have found myself at a bit of a loose end making characters lately, so I may not do any new ones. I think I've done every design I wanted to anyway and I'm quite proud of my little collection. So unless I get a sudden moment of inspiration, I won't be doing any serious new designs.

Uhm, I think you got me wrong, I appreciate any feedback I get, although I only make any changes if I myself feel they're necessary.  Perhaps I should've said it differently, but I had a qunari day.
My point was that all feedback is welcome, suggestions, anything. I promise to consider every suggestion carefully, but in the end I will do as I please, as blunt as it may sound.
Also, if a face of mine doesn't quite look good, I want to hear it, instead of "it's.. umm.. looking... very good, yes".
I don't want any sugar-coating on the feedback, the idea of finding something good to comment on needn't be applied to my work. In my opinion if you have to actually find something good, that "good" is not good enough to be mentioned. But then again, if something is specifically good, then why not mention and compliment it.

I admit I don't apply this idea to others' work for certain reasons... but this is the way I want my feedback served. :)

This is mainly because of I create a lot of different things in "real life" and get a lot of feedback on those things. Feedback is a tool for me to get better. Even if someone seriously says "that's sodding awful" I still consider that "feedback". Generally it's the (constructive) negative criticism that's best for the goal of getting better. Of course, positive feedback is needed to help see the good sides, and build confidence.
Then again, too much confidence can make one too cocky, as I know only too well. I get reminded of it every time I cut my fingers with the chisel when carving and not paying enough attention because of too high a confidence in one's abilities.

TL;DR: feedback is appreciated.

PS. I know you'll only be taking a break from serious creation. It's too addictive.

Oh thank you presence!

@ Caladhiel, I really like your mage, I am so bad at making guys, so kudos! And I like the colour you used on the tattoo, it makes it look more like facial markings, very cool!

@ Loc_n_lol, I really like the first design, the makeup's really nice. I think when doing makeup, you have to choose either to accentuate the eyes OR the lips, otherwise it looks too put on (From experience IRL lulz). I like your second design, but I think you have to choose to either have heavy make up on the eyes or lips, not both. Perhaps a more natural colour for lips? But I still like her!

@yasuraka, you're Elissa's lovely (I have a fondness for that hairstyle, as you can tell from the profile pic), I just wanna give her a hug! You're CE is gorgeous too, but I agree with other people about the eyeshadow, just a tad too much.

BTW, does nobody want to comment on my characters that I posted the other day? I feel a little left out :(

I pretty much know exactly what you're saying, and agree. although for me, its more like doing an "eh" jazz solo and then the next guy / girl completely blows me out of the water, type thing.

mochen: I think Presence is right, you'll only take a break ^_^ :P

@ presence - Ah ok, no worries. Honestly it is so easy to misjudge what someone is saying on a forum without any facial expressions or body language to help out. And you and YH are probably right, I may well do more designs in the future, I just feel kind of 'spent' right now.

@ Gemc123 - I'm sorry I didn't comment. I try to say something about everyone's designs but I missed yours. Apologies. I also have a character named Pandora. I love that name! I like how you've done the makeup around her eyes. Were you going for the evil looking blood mage? coz she definitely looks mean.

Your dwarf has that battle hardened look. I like her too. She looks tough and unforgiving.

@ Everyone who noticed. Yes I did change the picture of my elf. I don't know why I put him up to begin with as he wasn't finished. I changed my mind about him almost as soon as I'd done it. Well, I scrapped him anyway as tbh he was quite crap. And part of the reason why I've decided to take a break at least.

Funny to see "my" thread being so successful. I think Presence hit the spot there for me too. Feedback is awesome, but in the end it's your own opinions that matter. I tried to explain that in the first post.

I usually try people's suggestions, but I don't go with them if they don't fit with what I want out of my character, so to speak.

Ohwell. I'm playing a couple of other games atm. The loss of all my .mrh-files left a huge hole in my soul :P I had spent hours upon hours on those creations. It's like having someone rip your paintings when you're finally happy with them D:

I will be back eventually and I already have a few new ideas. I think I won't try to copy my previous chars, only use them as inspiration to the new ones. But since I have 114 games beside Dragon Age to play, I might take a break for like a month or two. I will still visit this thread tho.

LadyAly I'm not going anywhere. I'll still post here and comment on peoples characters, I just won't be making any more of my own for a while.

Sazuka is really unique! One of the stand-out designs on this forum for sure :) I think it's her eyes that really work the best. I'm drawn to them when I look at her face. She's definitely one of your best designs.

Thanks @mochen - I really love her.  The most surprising thing is she was made pretty fast, not much changed - it was more an act out of instinct to make an asian looking char. And if I look at Snotra from Mlaii00 - relatively fast made, too.
Sometimes you have simple a lucky hand Posted Image

But what I ment about you and VirusCat  - I will miss your both work!

:) Actually I do know what you mean about fast made characters. My elf Mirabelle was done in about 15 minutes. She was a bit of a fluke, but she really inspired me to try and do more designs.

Here are some shots of Aveline looking sultry. I hope everyone doesn't mind me showing her off again!:D

Thanks everyone for the compliments on Ecurio! As I said, at the time I thought he was too mature for the setting of the game. But I might just have another go with him, maybe he'll make it to Ostagar yet. And then I'll also take shots with him in daylight, promise.^^

@mochen: No worries! Aveline is worthy of being shown off now and again.^^ I especially like the eyebrows. They are rarely seen, probably because they often seem too thick on characters' faces. But you've included them nicely, they give Aveline that special something :)

@mlai00: Snotra IS sweet! I think it's the eyes, they're just so childishly innocent! But the hairstyle goes well with her, aswell, my DNF also had it. It just makes them look so.... cheeky! :wizard:

- very manly btw.
@_Loc_N_lol  I like the first one much better, but the black eyes disturbing  me a little bit. - maybe give her brown eyes ?
@mochen Aveline is no doubt one of my favorites in your Collection - I wonder what armor she is wearing ?
