@ mulch - Well, I've only used the kayla texture 3 times in my last 35 characters, so it's not exactly repetition. We all have different strengths as designers, that's what makes this place interesting.
I would like to think my strengths are in fantasy themes, doll like faces, and maybe corrupt, evil types too.
AvatarHunter has got the knack of making very real life faces. But that's the sort of thing he chooses to do.
I see your strengths in texture combinations and themes.
I could list all the designers here, but the point I am making is that nobody has a perfect mix, we all have areas in which we could improve if we wanted.
It would be cool if that's the direction the thread took for a while, if we all had a go at trying to emulate each others styles. I think as designers we'd learn a lot.

Oh no, it's annoying if things like this happen. Everything lost and writing it from scratch isn't really fun. Poor guy.
@LadyAly:
That's a really good idea, I think I'll do that, because I have a bad internet connection and sometimes it doesn't load and the whole text is gone.
I agree with you on the matter of the personal preferences, every commet we make is based on those preferences.
@Mochen:
I don't think emulating whole designs and styles is a good idea. It would only bring up the whole annoying :"you copied my stuff, don't you have ideas of your own" discussion again and, nope, that's not good, plus maybe some people would see it as a sort of competition or one-upmanship or something bad. IIRC, something like that happened before and some people weren't too happy about it. So no, it's not a good idea. Plus in a worst case scenario, we'd end up doing the exact same stuff and arguing about who had the idea first, what was the original, what's unique etc..
No way in hell, I'm paricipating in that. I remember what happens if similarities between designs of two different people happen by accident, and I'm not willing to have that stress all the time. The burnt child dreads the fire.
I think we could learn more through honest feedback and truely consturctive criticism instead of, let's put it plain and simple, the ego-stroking and white lies (sometimes sycophancy, hope that's the right word).
Sure everyone of us has personal preferences, therefore we are all biased, and every comment we make on someone else's design is biased (because it's based on personal preference), but it doesn't mean that those comments should be disregarded and/or ignored. I think soemtimes this could really give new perspectives and ideas, maybe even open up the possibility of a new approch on things, somthing one hasn't thought of before, changing the routine. Disucssions and Arguments can very well be a source of inspiration. So why not do this, Experimenting with different ideas, textures, themes, proportions, wahtever comes to mind, breaking free of the routine, posting the stuff here and learning through real feedback (no matter if biased or not) given by the others, instead of emulating something, expecting a pat on the back from the person who made the morph first and a "Well done, you've masted my style, now move on to the next master." sort of comment.
Not having the perfect mix is the whole point, that's just something everyone would do sooner or later and that means nothing new under the sun. Emulating will, in my opinion, only hinder people in developing their own style and realising their own ideas. Frankly it'll kill inspiration and diversity.
I mean, there is no right or wrong, only a lot to learn and try out. We can get new ideas and inspiration through listening to feedback and other people's opinions and the most important thing, in my opinion, is that we get the chance to develop and improve their own style through experimenting with the different suggestions.

No your ideas aren't terrible.They just don't change the matter at hand, that the thread is sort of dying because of the lack of intereaction, feedback and criticism.
We all became sort of lazy, unispired people trapped in our own routine only using this thread as a showcase for our own stuff and expecting others to make compliments. We need each others opinions and feedback to break free of that routine, of that complacency and be really creative again. And we need to learn how to give feedback and constructive criticism and how to deal with it.

In faces I also look at bone structure more than textures. Some of the best faces, imho, don't always follow a pear shaped design. But the beauty of this is that not everyone has the same tastes. What I like reading are the different takes by the different people, and remarks are usually made because there was something about a certain face that stood out and made a connection to that person. Not a good or bad thing...just reality. We all just have to take it in stride.
tklivory--that armor is called s l u t t y pumpkin and was made by Nowshin. I don't know that she ever released it to the public. But here is a wider shot of that armor on an older character/face I made:

If feedback is asked for, I think most of us here are more than happy to provide it. If it's not requested, I generally assume that whatever "imperfections" I see are intentional.
I really don't understand the kerfuffle. I've seen this kind of thing before and I didn't understand it then either.
But seriously, the passive-aggressive back-and-forth? Cut it out. Or take it to PM. I think most of us here understand that everyone has a different perspective - some I like more than others. But I prefer to focus on the positive, instead of trying to make someone conform to my standards.
I apologize if I'm terse, but with all the butthurt plaguing a lot of other threads, this was one place where I could simply post my designs and admire others. So, please, let's tell the sphincter fairy we won't be needing our butts uppercutted today.

Page 315
mulch00: The appearance of Mick is good. However, the "scar" used on Mick doesn't show the volume. It looks too plain makes him looks like wearing some badly made tattoo.
I like how you put the Ash Wrath and scarification scar together. The blind eye does enhance the effect and make Firil looks unnerving.
Meldrick looks good in that mage outfit though I prefer him naked :-P Where do you get that blind eye texture?
Camilla....I think she looks too soft even with that tattoo. In my opinion, I will tune her skin to be more weathered and narrow her eyes a bit.
Danka, Jojo and Mathilda are nice dwarf designs.
IceStorm: Thank you for your compliment on Pyari
If possible, could you post more frontal screenshot of Mason? We can have understanding about him.
mochen: The mask like tattoo gives him a unsettling appearance and the red-eye give out a hint of blood magic. Where do you get that mask?
Chaos looks like some undead creatures rising from their tomb * shudder *
Prisicilla is wonderful! I love him! He has inspired me to create two morphs as a tribute to him
Thank you for your compliment on
Jarlanvain: I want to design a face which match the punk hairstyle. Thus he ends up with a bit of confident and smugness.
Ar'cynesoth: I want to design something different, a kind people and I am satisfy with the outcome.
Falmari: He is based on some sea creatures.
Nug: He is the result of experiment for pushing the slider to extreme.
Bahmour: I experiment by pushing the slim slider to high value and see what will be look like. He ends up look good.
Thank you for the opinion for Shin. I will take that into account.
Echona's facial feature and large eyes give her an unearthly appearance.
I love Irokez! The hairstyle, beard, tattoo and eyes give him a wild and mean appearance. It seems like he is always ready to strike at the next moment. However, I find him attractive. May be because "bad guy" are always be praised?
Francine is pretty and I like the tattoo on her brow.
Petehog: The doll-like texture just looks like the puppet doll I have posted many pages before. It gives her an ethereal appearance.
Page 316
AvatarHunter: Thank you for the encouragement of my current direction and appreciation of Tedwin and Daniel.
mulch00: Among Johannes and Mauro I prefer the latter. The thick lips, eye shape and beard gives him a lot of character.
Azrek...he looks like he has been hit on the left eye.
I like the use of tattoo on Carolina. She looks elegant.
Silver...however, in my opinion, her skin is too pale and even shining under bright light, which makes her facial feature, tattoo and hair almost indistinguishable.
The scar on Norbert the Slayer is a plus on his toughness. Could you tell me which mod I can find the scar?
Is the frown on Momo come from dwarf skin texture? She looks annoyed and I like the design.
Another bunch of nice dwarf design! Among them I think Damor and Mogor stand out to me. They seems like those who have rough appearance but there is a kind heart underneath. I think it is mostly because of the eye shape.
-hendrixXx-: Thank you for your compliment. The images of Morgan and Davon are broken and I can no longer see them.
mochen: Thank you for your appreciation of Lawivor, Hakri, Grumdi, Parlok and Kurgan. Kurgan is based on some random image found in the internet (though he looks completely different to the original) and I like the outcome.
Maybe because of the angle of the screenshot? The armor Kalista wore looks like a Kendo robe.
Saerwen: I like the second screenshot of rose. Her expression and the frozen chamber gives out a calm aura around her.
tklivory: I like the color combination you have used on the tattoo of Tessa. The tattoo also gives her more character.
I always stay away from the human beard provided by DAO as they are always unfit for the shape of the chin. The screenshot of Randy indicates that.
The screenshot of Dela is really nice, especially her sneer.
LadyAly: Although I don't share your direction towards Flemeth (I think she looks like a wise elder or oracle rather than a mean, cunning witch), she is still a nice design.
Retrogue: I think brown eye fits Lucretia better.
I'm glad you notice my general preference. I always think we are already living in a sad world, then why not design some happy characters? Though I still design some sad or mean characters when I'm moody.
The panda armor is one of my skinning (i.e. retexture) work. It will be contribute to a project I'm currently participating.
Scarred Morrigan...it is an interesting concept. I'm looking forward to your final work.
Page 317
mochen: I like the new Olivia.
The random...He looks like some people being skinned and then the skin is used to make a leather lantern...* shiver *
Among the three characters I like Aled more. He looks wise
mulch00: I really like your way to design Jarkash. The hairstyle is not easy to used on male characters but the tattoo can compensate for the features.
Mica is also a nice design as well.
Thank you for comment on Amber, Lyro, Hakri, Vorger, Grumdi and Parlok
AvatarHunter: Kallian looks pretty though she doesn't align with your usual realistic approach.
RagingCyclone: Although I don't share your...preference, I do think they are interesting concept. I like what you depicts on Leliana though I think Morrigan can be more tough.
Page 318
* facepalm * I have one of those who seldom frequent the thread. RL issues and I always tends to post up a long post which hinders me to keep posting here (I would like to but I haven't got the time because of busy work and other hobbies).
The thread is dying...it is a sad but understandable truth...it is not only because of busy RL, but also DAO, I have to admit, is a dying modding platform. With the steep learning curve for modding, without the further adventure DLCs and expansions, without the patches or feature enhance for the main game and the toolset, with the release (and let-down) of DA2 and the coming of DA3, the passion of players are declining and they will move on to other games. It just like situation when I join NWN community. * sigh *
The only things we could do is to continue our interaction, post comments on the others works and encourage new-comer to post their works.
It seems like I start confused about what I'm talking right now. I'm more a intuitive rather than a logical person. I will stop writting here now.

During the origins of this forum, I was glad to see that it became quite different from what I expected. It is the only forum to my understanding where people would offer feedback whether it be praise or constructive criticism to aid the designs. That being said, I'm not a particularly strong contributor to this thread. It just takes...a LOT of time to comment on other people's designs. If someone asks for constructive feedback and wants details on improvement...I may say something..but generally I tend to avoid saying anything...because honestly..I feel that I don't have the right to say anything. I may offer my thoughts. But I usually do it in a way where it's more of a suggestion. What we do here.. is a form of art. And art is just like food, music or preferences to a particular gender of interest. You're never going to get anyone to agree on the same things. Granted, there are universal designs of beauty or universal songs that people may like...etc. But for the most part, beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder and it would be unfair for me to force my views and beliefs upon another. This also goes with the layout of a design. Sometimes it's better to have the full body in there. Sometimes it's better to have the portrait. But it's a matter of preference and I've seen people pull it off both ways. It just really depends. At the end of the day, I always tell myself that this is just a hobby. It's something that I do to escape and just have fun. I do plenty of critiquing and being critiqued in my real job. and "modding" is just something to do outside of work. It's unfortunate when situations occur where a hobby no longer becomes a hobby and it becomes work..or something that is meant to be fun...no longer becomes fun. That being said, looking at at this forum..there are a lot of creative and artistic folks here and it would be nice if things would continue back to where things left off.

First of all - its personal taste - again. I will comment on outstanding designs which let me look more then once at it- and/or designs which I think they can be improved. All others simple good and in my eyes without faults.
@mulch I do like your designs very much - especially Ygrette has catched my eyes. A perfect harmonic design in my eyes.
Also Anja the soulless poor dwarfie - scary ^^ and well done.
and about the constructive criticsm - Annika is a sweet looking girl, but I think anything with cheeks or jaw sliders let her looking like a little human hamster.
Tjure is a strong dwarf warrior - I think this scar you used fits well in a story of blood and endless fights - a real veteran.
@mochen Minuete has nothing from a doll - she looks like a lady who exactly knows what she wants, and dangereous too. This dress is btw stunning for a noble - from what a mod is it ?
You should work further on designs like Minuete - its a very nice ( rather new ) facet of your work and I love it.
About the more creepy designs is nothing to say - you are anyway the master in it
@AvatarHunter nice to see you back
@RagingCyclone your elven designs are a cool try to make elven companions.
@Starlight The Seer is a very interesting idea - and you transported the idea in this design. The only thing which is bothering me a tad is his ... *grin* I think as a Seer with this background he should look a little bit more serious.
Mangan is handsome and Rorlec such a cute dwarf
My next design is a commission per request for LukaCrosszeria. He wanted a handsome dwarf, wihtout beard, and long hairstyle with earrings. So - this is the first attempt to make one.
Voran

That's a cool concept of Kallian Tabris. She kind of looks "street smart" (dunno if it's the right term) and very prety, maybe too pretty for her own good, is't understandable that Vaughan took her along with Shianni. The resemblemce bewteen the cousins is also good to see.
I really like her nose it's a really cute upturned nose (?)
@tvlivory:
Puh, there are quite a lot recommandable mods. I'll see if I can get together a list and send it to you via pm this evening.
@RagingCyclone:
Elven Leliana and Eleven Morrigan are really well done. I like especially the elven Morrigan.
That armor is indeed nice. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the skin colourt of the face is quite different from the skin colour of the rest of the body with this armour.
On a side not, I love how you made the light pink lipstick work with the dark skin on you order (nameless?) character.
@Starlight:
Wow, Mordor is a damn good design. The textures you used give him a withered look, but you managed to pull it off without making him look evil at first sight. He's prpbably someone you'd trust and follow through the deeproads and be kinfd of surprised if he attacks you.
Kirvor and Toboon are handsome. I like especially Toboon, because of his excotic appearance.
The seer is outstanding. He looks like a wise, old Seer who probably lives in the woods all by himself and if he's to teach a young apprentice, I think, he'd be kind and understandable mentor who always keeps calm.
Your dwarfs are as always good-looking. Skalf caught my eye, because he's got a mischievous look.
What I really like about your dwarf and what also never fails to amaze me is how you mange to make the dwarfs look, young, handsome and most of all how you manage to do this without putting a beard on them. It's a book with seven seals for me how to create good-lookg dwarfs without beards.
Edit:
The texuture on Momo are lunalips21 from Luna's kins by lunanella and spscar04 from Sp-Scars by weirdel.
I'm gals you like Mauro, it's one of my humanized qunaris. I just have no talent in creating "qunari-looking" qunaris.
The scar on Norbert is from the Tears of Sorrow file from Dragon Age Redesigned ny Dracomies:
http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=686
the tears of sorrow file is in a folder called DAR for Dragon Age Toolset.
The texute is called uh_hed_bloodworks_0d and I bended it with a skin texture I made myself (mine is a very dilettantish made skin texture, so bloodworks really is the improtant part). I also used a tattoo, uh_tat_ps002_0t combined with lesatatt16..
@Petehog:
Think the storm is over. We'll just carry on as before. Nothing ever changes
I agree with you beauty and a lot more lies in the eye of the beholder. Everything is coloured by our perception, by personal prefernces and experience.
@LadyAly:
Thank you. Anja was a texture test. Changed the normal map on uh_hed_slash2_0d with on I made myself, blended it all with uh_hed_infa_0d and gave her a custom dirt-tattoo. Really nothing special. But thank you for your nice compliment.
I have to agree with you on Annika, she was my first attempt on a child morph. I tried to get rid of those hamster cheeks but then her face was sort of stange, well stranger than it is, deformed. Just uglier than it is now.
I don't exactly know how to make kid morphs, Jalid was attempt 2 , he is nor really any better. I'm still experimenting. If someone has any suggestions on how to make it. Please don't be shy.
Ok, in German, because I just can't say it in English right now: Ihr Gesicht sah aus wie ein Bauklotz, viel zu eckig.
Back to English:
Voran is quite handsome, but still retained (?, working on my vocabulary) a rough/tough and dwarfish look. As I said before I'm always amazed how people make really good dwarfs without beards. Super cool dwarf.
beide Daumen und große Zehen hoch
@hendrixxx:
I'm sad to hear that. You'll be missed, my friend and I hope that one day you'll come back.
For hendrixxx, because he's leaving:

That design of Gregoir looks really cool. The scar and the damaged eye suit him well.

Ok, I tried to make a dwarf without beard, it didn't work. I have no clue how to do it. So Leif got a beard, but I tried to follow Mochen's advice to give him a bigger nose. Did it work? Still too small or does it look completely unproportional?
