Although for Estike I would have chosen a more delicate tattoo and tried to compensate the strangely shaped eyes (caused by face shape 2) by using eye shape 3.

Estike’s sad eyes look like the animal's eyes. Is there a better way to express it?

Reba and Persephone are very good morphs, it seems so different from your other work. You do need to be clear and specific about who your characters are. :)

I actually thought Estike's eyes were her best feature. Very lovely face fmorgana :)

Here's something in the anime style <3

@fmorgana:
Estike’s dark eyes per se are nice. The colour is fine, what they are meant to express, the sadness, is fine. For me it is just the shape that looks odd, it's in contrast to the rest of the face, to me they look quite unrealistic or strange. It is just the eye shape. Sorry, I can't describe it better. Everyone has a different taste. But as I said, aside from the tattoo and the eye shape Estike is a great character.:)

I wouldn't say that Persephone and Reba are really different from others I made, I think they are maybe different from the other females I made lately (starting page 321). All in all I am pretty sure there are some (or a lot) that look very much alike. Persephone and Aljona have nearly identical slider stettings, just a little variation and different textures (A sort of morphing shortcut :innocent:).

As for characters, complexity etc. in the end it is the viewer who makes the interpretation or some sort of assumption.
If you see a young, innocent girl in Noveen that is really cool, for me it is a doll without personality (It was the description of the doll Reba from Duma Key that inspired me, but I named the morph Noveen, like another doll from that book, because I liked the name).
It's similar for me with your Estike, I didn't see the sadness as the centerpiece. I saw a clever, roguish tomboy, curiously exploring the old ruins, enjoying herself, but not without caution, because the memory of what happend with Tamlen and the mirror is still fresh in her mind, the sadness only a layer adding to her character. This is what makes Estike so outstanding, in my opinion.

When I make a morph I mostly want to use a certain texture, tattoo, hairstyle and/or a piece of armour etc. so I
make the morph, construct it around the texture etc., sometimes it is a theme or a situation. Firil is a good example, I wanted to use one blind eye and one empty eye socket and the rest is just constructed
around it or Hel which is constructed around the shroud. The same goes for quite a lot of my morphs.
Paula on page 310 is inspired by the the book Gerald's Game by Stephen King, so the inspiration was a somewhat hopeless situation not the character of Jessie Burlingame. Sandy (Page 318, not the Halloween versions) which I made for hendrixxx,
because he was leaving. Sandy and Paula are supposed to look sad and there should be no other interpretation (at least I hope that there isn't).
The most important thing, at least, for me is to find the right light and make a screenshot as close as possible to create some sort of portrait or close-up snapshot.

It is your imagination, your interpretation, which gives them a personality, which makes them characters or not, gives them complexity or not and allows you to see different facets or not. So I don't think specifying which one is the the evil wizzard, the torture victim, the white knight or a doll would do any good.

How do you do it? How do you create characters (morphs)? Is it a character/ personality or a feeling you think of and then make morph according to that idea?

Sorry about the wall of text :)

@fmorgana:
No, you didn't hurt me. I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. English isn't my first language and sometimes I i express things the wrong way.
I thought that maybe I made you angry, which wasn't my intention.

Wow, for seven or six characters you are really good. You are very, very talented.

I can't give really good advice, mostly I push around sliders till I get the desiered result. I can try to make a sad looking elven girl and then tell you how I made it, but my morph won't be very good.

peek in and - How gorgeous Anime she is - I love this delicate features :wub::wub:( You inspire me to try out one for myself)

fmorgana - I have to agree with mulch00 - you are very talented.  Your designs are pretty outstanding, lively. The discussed eyeshape was unusual, but normal people have not perfect faces - so I was thinking it fits her well.

*waves to all and hopefully you all had a good start into the new year*

Inspired by mochen's design above

@Saerwen:
That hairstyle fits Anarel perfectly. She looks elegant and tough, the perfect warden commander.

@LadyAly:
Wow the twins look good. I really like the combination of Pearl's skin tone and the hair colour. It gives her sort of an ethereal look. Amber has a very cute face and the hairstyle works well with her delicate features.

@fmorgana:
Wow, your nameless character looks amazing, extremely creepy, but amazing. It reminds me of an Aphex twin video (not sure which one, but one of the creepier ones).
Did you use a skin texture or a tattoo?
It sort of looks like some sort of scar texture.
Absolutely impressive design.

@mulch00 Very interesting concept on Licinia. I really like her. The hooded armor she wears fits well into this build. I lack behind on Nexus since I have barely time to dl the new stuff . What is it ?
Thx for teh complimet on my twins. Its interesting that I did nothing change on the facial structure - but hair skin and make up let them look different.

@fmorgana absolutely creepy and awesome ^^ - well done *bows*
I would like to know how I can find your awesome textures :)

@Saerwen OH - she is beautiful and looks so full of pride :) Nice work on her Saerwen and glad to see you here

@LadyAly:
That modification of the armour mesh/hood mesh isn't availabe for download. The textures I used for the armour in Licinia's pictures are from some really cool DA2 mod, but I can't remember the mod or the author of those textures, sorry. I guess I'm getting old and forgetful :(

It is really fascination how much the different hair, make-up and colouring changes the look of you characters. I honestly would never have guessed that is the same face. Amazing work and a really cool idea.

-mulch00 and mochen-  I want to fix the texture (incorrect normal map). I'll upload it tomorrow and some new textures. Please tell me how I can make an empty eye socket?

I fell off my carousel and decided to design some happy and friendly-looking characters!

Leliana is very fervent in her beliefs of the Maker:

Morrigan has some rather messy table manners:

I found this cute lil fella wandering around my camp one night.

Not such a serious post, I know, but every forum needs its odd bit now and then, right? All of these morphs were included in my release packs, however; so maybe there's a little seriousness, haha. I've seen some real exquisite work around here lately; each author seems to have a trademark feature or set of features they like to include. What do you all like to include with your morphs, usually?

@fmorgana:
Wow, I'm really looking forward to the new textures. You are the best :wub:
Deleting the entry under Part selection -> 2.Parts -> Eyes  is usually enough, but there are other methods that make it look better than this, but it is sufficent to delete the entry. I guess, it depends on the result you are aming for.

@Devlog:
You characters look great. I really like Sophia, bet she never has to buy her own drinks (but she should really spend the saved money mon some face cream). The last fellow looks quite trustworthy ;) Serious, he looks like the perfect bloodmage.

About your mod, i really like the new version of Wynne from 27.12.11 (
this picture
). Wynne is still pretty despite her age, a really good design.

To answer you question I like the pictures to mostly show the face preferably close up, like a portrait. For me the focus is on the face and not on the armour or the background though sometimes I include the armour or a piece of armour (I like hoods in game and in RL;)). Otherwise no clue what I include, I don't think much about features when I make a morph :whistle:

Sophia is a hot pocket for sure, haha. The characters, top-to-bottom, are: Leliana, Morrigan, Tamlen, Sophia, Avernus, and Uldred. Other than the first two, all of them show the result of having undergone some kind of massive alteration from their original forms, determined by their ingame storylines (trying not to spoil too much info here).Posted Image

I've always considered Wynne like a sort of "faded beauty", whose face is etched with lines of concern and her eyes staunch determination. Her hair color is not a standard type, but I wanted to illustrate a blonde tone shifting to gray, instead of a full-on gray. I designed a hair tint similar to that for another morph, but hers I decided to have a lil lighter still. For the most part, out of all my creations, the companion characters bear the strongest resemblence to their defaults.

I try to get screenshots of actual conversation with my morphs, as I think it shows them in their most natural state; timing is important here for expression. Appropriate garments are a nice addition to the characters' overall appearance, but it's not something I concentrate on either. Individuality is promoted as much as possible, and I avoid using the same eye texture, tattoo combinations, or hairstyle for any group of morphs. I mix some of the other features up as well, even among those characters of a similar background. This is one of the reasons why I haven't created a ton of PC morphs...only so many materials like that to work with, heh.

mmmh .. I can't see your pic Pete:blink: :crying:

@DevLog
nice shots and I had to giggle at the comments. Morrigan looks interesting - is she a Vampire in your playthrough ? ^_^
Uldred is perfect in my eyes.
I like your thinking - for me is the act of the creation the fun. I did play so many times that I just want to make faces with different materials. Screenshot should be perfect fit to armory, background from the Charstory - etc. I'm a real sucker for harmony

@fmorgana I would really like to try out your textures too, they are really wonderful.

@LadyAly--Well now, I'm not sure if Morrigan truly is a bloodsucker, but I seem to recall conversations with her revolving around some kind of sucking; so you be the judge, haha. I'm glad you liked my menagerie.Posted Image Your Leona is cute; her appearance and expression reminds me of a character from an anime series I recently watched, where a young lady of privilege enters into a magic school with a rather self-important attitude. Surprises and shenanigans ensue.

@rak72--That tattoo is one of my personal favs. I use it for one of my versions of Morrigan. I can't see too much variation of colors in that screenie however, prolly due to the lighting. You can never go wrong with leopard print though.Posted Image

@Petehog--Yep, so she's hot; not as hot as my Sophia, but no one can hold a torch to that beauty. Okay I'm kidding, you really have a knack for sexy females, sir. The eye shape, jaw curvature, and poutiness of the lips are especially alluring.Posted Image

@fmorgana--I can't say I've seen many tattoos which cover the neck with such detail and also look good like that; although it appears that the facial tat is of a different type of design. I think it might look better if the colors were alternated a bit. Of the two morph versions, I'm favoring the dark-haired one; she has a more confident air.
