Here was my first attempt on the PC. This was pure CC. I'd be happy to share to the sliders if I knew how to grab them (been playing her alot the last few days).
Lana, the Dalish Elf:

I'm still working on learning the toolset. I've made two characters from there, a human and a dwarf, but I think they can be much better with some more practice.

Wow, amazing characters. Amelia is so cute and Lynnae looks so young and innocent. Impressive work, keep it up (it is a harmelss addiction
@Nikkular:
Hi!
Don't be shy to post pictures of your characters. The picture of Lana is really tiny. but I think she looks great.
In a way it is a matter of practice and luck; sometimes you get something really good and sometimes it just isn't that good. It is also a matter of good lighting.
And you can conceal little "weaknesses" by taking a screenshot from a distance (middle or far away) or with a profile or half-profile shot, by just showing the favourable side of the face.
The hardest part is getting used to the toolset, the rest will come automatically in time.
Based on my elf Reba I made a human version, Julianna:

Captain Killroy:

Lynnette:

Emilia:

Lorra:

Thanks! I'm in LOVE with Lorra! It's so hard, at least for me, to make beautiful yet realistic drawfs. As for the tiny picture, there seems to be a weird issue with my images. They don't show up if i'm not signed in, and my profile picture changes in that case too... weirddd o.o
Alright here's try two, going to use a different image uploader, hopefully my large pictures of Lana will show up this time.

and some more varied pictures of her in game

Thank you. Dwarven females can be tricky and I guess I was lucky.
That is really weird, but your images show up now. And i stand by what I said, Lana looks great, she has got really stunning eyes and the red hair fits perfectly. Keep up the good work!

In other news, i'm trying to make a few new presets for my own use in the toolset. Mostly trying to make them as 'canon' as possible towards the different origins. As in, nobles would be more prim and proper, makeup, nicely styled hair, whereas dwarf commoners and dalish elves wouldn't have much use for makeup and what not. Naturally I jumped on the elves first, I'm obsessed with making them, even though they can be SO hard.

With her I was going for a more natural/earthy look. Most likely Dalish, which means i'll be changing her tattoo to something else once i get the face right. She looks nice, but it feels like i'm missing something important that makes the difference between nice and awesome.
I'd LOVE to have everyones opinions on what I can change and improve upon with her.

Really the only other thing I would suggest is mess around with a few different textures and use the blend option a lot, you can create some quite interesting effects. Don't be afraid to experiment!

I made a Dalish Elf in the toolset:

And although he is not perfect I liked him overall.
But in the game it's actually very disappointing.

And what's worse, when I set him as a preset character in the character creation, I can't get the custom tattoo. So I used the method to swap the in game head for the toolset morph. Then I have the tattoo. But...:

Then the hair is messed up! The hair actually also appears like this on the preset, but when I choose a different color in the character creation, it turns to normal.
So I can basically choose between the tattoo and the hair.

Ah, I forgot to address the other things. In both of the Dalish zones, everything has a sort of faint, yellowish-green tint to it, because of the environment I guess. Once you go to another zone, the proper coloring should return. About the white scalp thing: This is a common issue when using custom hair tints, but there is an easy fix for it as well. Do you edit your .mor/.mop files once you've exported them?

Once you have exported the .mor file, open it again in the toolset and amend this line by deleting the 't1_stb' bit

Then save it and use the face replacer to put him in your game. Should work then.

I've only had Dragon Age for a short while now, and I find the character creator very taxing. I suppose Sims and Elder Scrolls spoiled me, hehe. BUT, I finally managed to make some elves that I'm happy with.

Dalish elf - Rogue. Also known as Zevran's boy toy. :3 When I first made him something didn't settle with me. Changed the eye texture and BAM! I'm in love. (Too bad he's taken, hehe.)
Edana
http://social.biowar...5441/180126.jpg
City Elf - Warrior. She's a bit broody, and self-conscious about the scar the guards have her. Hard to warm up to, but she really does care about her friends. Kinda cold to Alistair, though. We'll see where this goes.
My first two really good faces. Please - any and all critiques welcome! After staring at these faces for hours on end, I could use some second opinions.
EDIT: Darn, can't seem to insert images...
The CC is indeed very difficult to work with, especially for a perfectionist like myself. I've probably spent more time in the CC than I have playing the actual game, and have scrapped countless characters because I disliked something about their face. I'm still working on my male HN as I speak, which is particularly difficult because I'm fixated on giving him a proper Cousland family resemblance.
But FWIW, those characters look very nice, especially Edana. Good work.

I think the elven lady is really good. I wouldn't change anything. Good work.
@renjility:
I agree with DevLog the light in the dalish areas isn't very good for screenshots. For elves an random encounter area calles Twisted Forrest is pretty goos for taking screenshots.
Presets are fine but using *.mor files and inserting them in a savegame via toolset or DA FAceReplacer yields better results, because the ingame CC tends to distort faces.

Thanks! You're characters are, as always, amazing!
@renjility
I was wondering that myself. I know how to use walls to get a closeup, but even when I turn my graphics settings all the way up, and get as close as I can without going INSIDE their head, i can't seem to make them look so.. nice. I find I can see the details of my faces better in the cc screen that in actual gameplay o.o
Speaking of which, here is my final on that dalish elf

What do I have to do?! Who do I have to kill, to get this character??? I'm in love!
What I have seen in the past 10 pages puts Bioware to shame in the character creation department, so many GREAT designs that simply discourage me from creating a character ever again with the basic creator of the game.
Thanks in advance.

I use *.mor files not presets (*.mop) which for me makes it easier, because I don't have to think about the distortions the ingame CC causes.
As for the screenshot I position the characters really close to a wall (the / on the num pad lets you switch beween walk and run; I use it to adjust the distance between character), then pause the game and rotate the camera around take a screenshot and cut the picture with IrfanView. That is really all I do. I guess it is a matter of practice.
I've always done it this way, maybe because I always had the feeling to miss details when I'm not as close as possible. I only take screenshots from further away when the face, in my opinion, is very flawed (all the morphs I make are flawed one way or the other, but some are just very, very ugly), because this way it is sometimes possible to hide the worst or the failures become "monsters"
Sometimes when you get too close to the wall, I think, strange effects might occur (mostly the nose will be very
prominent and the face will appear somehow bent, I can't describe it, but it is not a petty effect. You'll know it when you see it)
I'm really not good at explaining and describing, at least in English it is pretty hard for me to express myself.
@Nikkular:
Thank you. Your dalish looks great, natural and a bit wild. The face itself is well proportioned and everything fits perfectly.
An attempt to create a male dwarf (old morph from a year ago), which turned out to be a failure and became a "monster", Gigi:

That suit is a pretty cool mod. Is it available for download?
@mulcho00
Captain Gillroy looks pretty tough. Nice job. Great job on the other designs as well.
@fmorgana
I second MarkoGw's comment as well. Great design. Very, very realistic looking.
I've been out of the Dragon Age scene for a very long time. No doubt it's much better than Dragon Age 2 but just been tangling with Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas for a bit. Here's my unnamed character yet again. I'll call her Girl #5. lol.

person has passed. I do not know her screen name here on bioware, but
her DragonNexus account name is Spidercat . I recall I might of seen some of her work here in this forum. Some of her works are listed here.

Spidercate Boys
Her
battle with cancer is finally over, and she can now rest in peace. This
post is to only inform her friends and other possible people who know
her. Wondering why she didn't log on for awhile. My condolences, I'm
sorry. Please spread the word and inform, so her friends may know.
RIP Callia
